G'day all, I am about to undergo a few changes to the 4 door, the biggest is a full respray courtesy of mate who is pro-spray painter in Narrabri (thats inside and out). I am a bit unsure of what colour to go at this stage (thinking of XR6 sky blue colour that is on the BA Falcon). Any suggestions of colour would be welcomed, and if I were to go XR6 colour what do you think?

The next part is polishing the engine pieces, intercooler pipes plenum etc. I have already started on this part as much as i can do with needing the car at present.

I have been doing this car for the past 2 years, and it has come along way from the NA RB25 Auto it started as. Gone from that to manual and 220KW@the wheels. This is what she looks like at the moment? Help me pick a colour guys?

I would make it look like this full stop! Kit can be had for $1800 :D

THanks for the reply, I have not seen many 4 door kits that actually suit the car but that is quite nice. I am trying to keep the sleeper look but after seeing that i am tempted?????

Ha ha yeah it is a pretty awesome kit!

If you want an idea of what a blue R33 4 door would look like track down the user spooks skyline..he has a similar colour to the one you mention, he might show you some pics

go Midnight Purple, the light XR6 blue, or maybe even bayside blue (like the R34 colour) they would make it look good.

Cheers mate, you obviously think like me as I am thinking dark purple or the light blue. The only thing is that I dont ever recall seeing many light blue skylines as compared to purple colours. Its hard to visualise the car in another colour, however sky blue is very rare on a skyline, especially a 4 door.

Thanks for your input, it has been noted

Mine is Dark Blue and I am wanting to paint it Midnight Purple (or XR6 Purple) as I havn't seen many 4 doors in that colour. If I go purple I will get white wheels that should look good.

ok so i feel the need to post up a pic, as it seems to be the rage!

i'm thinking i'll eventually respray it silver (again), but with a copius amount of metal flake. glitter silver!

Hey thats actually a very tidy looking 4door, that is a very unique look, as was said it is not over the top and more importantly looks good. Silver is a very nice colour for four doors, contemplating keeping mine silver for ease but i can go whatever colour i want so i may as well investigate!

Would like to know what that kit that is??

The amount of four door lovers that have replied to this is good to see. We will have to organise a 4 door only cruise!!!!!!!!!!!

Keep the pics coming guys, it is nice to see flash 4 doors for a change.

G-day mate ..

on the boot lid all being dark.. here is a pic of mine.. cheers..

I would say there are too many blue skylines on the street nowadays. Got my vote for the purple, really suits the 4drs, make it as phat as you can mate:)

Great pics of all the 4drs, looking good!! Love the silver one, so tidy! I am also thinking to get my car respray, but just couldn't get the enough money for it....... anyway, looking forward to see your cars after the respray, cheers!

Thats one nice looking paint job Dave. Thanks for the pic, I am looking at something similar, probably a little bit lighter.

Will have to keep an eye out for it in my travels in Brisbane. Looks nice but hey, what did it cost etc, you mentioned it has sparkles, bet that looks good but unfortunately photos never do those thing justice.

Are you going to upgrade your breaks to the 5 stud 4 piston GTST breaks? It would be a good idea to do that down the track. :D

Yes, very true. It is probably the next mod that will be done. Will try to find a way to keep four stud wheels and get bigger discs to suit the 4 piston calipers. Am constantly on look out for the brakes, disc diameter is different by a few mm so I will have to find a way around that. But if it can be done, i will find a way. The brakes at moment are way crappy for the power. I Want to keep four stud to stick to the whole sleeper/surprise package.

Bigger Turbo is hopefullly soon but convincing the missus is the biggest obstacle

    • I refreshed the OEM injectors with the kit and connected it up. It now ideals okay even with the IACV removed. Driving still has the same cutoff issue like the 550cc injectors so the issue is somewhere else. I bought FPG's Fuel Pump Hanger. I will be installing it next, but it is not as straightforward as I thought it was with my limited wiring knowledge and no instruction on the specific model I purchased (FPG-089). I also got the incorrect billet clamp as I could not find info on the OEM sizing.
    • Stop looking at the garage floor, and turn the radio up a bit louder if there's any strange noises...
    • No. Turbo shuffle and surge/flutter are not the same thing. Specifically, on a GTR, turbo shuffle has a definite meaning. On a GTR, the twin turbos are assumed to be the same thing and to operate the same way, exactly. In reality, they do not. Their exhaust sides are fed and exhaust a little differently, to each other. Their inlet sides are fed and exhausted a little differently, to each other. Consequently, when they are "working" they are often at slightly different points on the compressor map compared to each other. What this means, particularly when coming on boost, is that one of them will spool up and start producing extra flow compared to the other, which will put back pressure on that other compressor, which will push the operating point on that other compressor up (vertically). This will generally result in it bumping up against the surge line on the map, but even if it doesn't, it upsets the compressor and you get this surging shuffle back and forth between them That is "turbo shuffle" on a GTR. It is related to other flutter effects heard on other turbo systems, but it is a particular feature of the somewhat crappy outlet piping arrangement on RB26s. There are plenty of mods that have been attempted with varying levels of success. People have ground out and/or welded more material into the twin turbo pipe to try to prevent it. Extending the divider inside it works, removing material doesn't. There are aftermarket replacement twin turbo pipes available, and these exist pretty mush purely because of this shuffle problem.
    • You can temporarily* use lock collars to keep it in place until you can do the bushes, back the nuts off, slide them in, snug back up. *temporarily is often for ever
    • Thanks for the quick reply. To be clear, when you say turbo shuffle do you mean turbo flutter "stustustu" or referring to something else? I had thought they were the same thing. When I wrote the post my intention was to say it wasn't a flutter/compression surge sound. My understanding was that a flutter sound would be occurring when throttle is released, whereas I can keep the throttle in the same position for this noise
