a 17 that's 8" wide with a +35 offset sits inside the guards nicely, with good strut clearance. I test fitted a super advan 3 spoke a while back to get an idea of what would suit the car as far as the dimensions go. you could go to 8.5" without any worrise, but a 9 would need a bit of negative camber to remain inside the std guards at the top.

one of the problems as I see it is that the rear guards are significantly like 15mm) narrower than the fronts. I test fitted some R33 GTR rims on my car (9" wide +30off) a while back, and while the fronts sat right on the edge of the guards, the rears were outside of them by at least half an inch. you can't fix that without flaring the guards...

Be careful when lowering, I have to run crazy camber on both the front and the back to get them to fit in the guards.

That would change if I could afford to raise it about an inch or so, but with no tools and experiance, the tyre workshops out here want ~$250 to raise and wheel align it........ so will just have to deal with un-even wearing tyres for the time being.

I dont do many kms in it anyway, only about 200kms a week, but still eventually it'll cost more to replace all four tyres I know, meh either way I'm screwed

would definitely make for a gnarly looking wagon. dunno about slr flares but... little bolt holes and such... there was a 200sx, an s14, that DMD did. purple one, that had some gnarly flares. i think it was on the cover of ff and high tech perf. mag.

looking at them from the back, though... a stagea with big wheels does seem to have a really wide stance, anyway.

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
    • Yeah dunno why johhny posted that here with no context, just post on FB/insta bro where he put it up?  Laine had an off at T4 during Thurs prac, he's ok, car is less than perfect, they are done for the weekend, he can fill in the rest. Bando also binned it like 100m up the road.
