That will never happen simply because the F1 races start at different times every race. Sometimes it could be midday, other times it could be 6pm and other times 9pm and that is too much hassle to be shown live.

The F1 times, like all other race days are pre-set.

Its very very easy to schedule around it if you even remotely wanted to.

Have other motorsport events inbetween races.

Even cover all the other races, Carrera Cup etc etc etc in the mean time

Or alternatively just have a slightly delayed qualifying that fits into the nearest hour block

I like Crompton...i really enjoy his commentary during the race. Fark it...the world is farked, i have had 3 x $50 parkign fines in 5 days...everything these days is a money grab...so why would i be surprised if the V8 Supercars is just another money grab with the next step beign no more free to air, and more expensive ticket prices.

Wouldnt be surprised to hear that worse tv coverage means punters will be more inclined to watch the V8 races...currently ticket prices are extortion anyway...yeh fark em. Can you tell im in a foul mood

you are absolutely right dangerous_daveo, $10k is SFA even for state level racing when it is spread over 40 entrants (only $250ea we pay more than that for the entry fee) and the reality is almost everyone could get $250 a round if we were on TV.

But in the end many of the state racers treat it as a hobby, only a few of us treat it as serious business. So the hobby guys just see an extra $250 cost not the opportunity :P

Which is a damn shame because combined touring car racing is a bilion times better to watch than super cars

LoL, I wasnt sure if $10k was a lot for you guys or not. Shame, they cant find $250. I guess you really wouldnt have to do it for long, once you got a few more sponsours to cough up. I guess some of the others dont see it that way.

And yes, much better racing, its close and you guys arent trying to kill each other.

few things ive noticed while scrolling this thread

a. 5th gear is not better than top gear.

you must be kidding. i would take tiff and what's her face over jeremy and his mates any day. better driver, better reporter, less of a wanker.

:D:D:(:):):):):)

Jeremy is just a fat wanker who cant drive. Although i do enjoy watching the show he is a pretty funny wanker after all!

Havnt heard too many people here mention that Ch 7 having V8's and no other motorsport may take the sport to the next level as they can solely concentrate on 1 series (no F1, indy cars etc to worry about). Then again the AFL commotments they have may kill it to :D

Its going to make RPM wierd :D

yeah dont get me wrong i dont 'hate' jeremy, but he is a fat wanker like you say. he is still good to watch, BUT he has nothing on good ol' tiff. i love tiff, he is a bit of a wanker too, but damn he can drive, and loves to thrash the nuts off everything he gets into. I just love that infectious enthusiasm he has for cars that really comes across well. you cant help but like the guy cause he is always so excited. :D

I think most of channel 7's motorsports comentators have retired or started calling the race horses. (poor buggers). I think channel 7 used to call themselves the home of sport.. that has gone by the wayside though. Still if they are going to have to cover the cost somehow so i doubt they would kill the coverage off and make a big loss on the taxi cabs. Personally I think its there is some old nostalgic types on there that used to like the coverage on what they used to have eg AFL, Grp A, ect. maybe the seasons might change for the taxi cabs say to be covered over the off season of AFL, nice summer days, least it will be something interesting over xmas specials.

To be honest though.. in TV talk i see a change of the guard of sitting down and watching tv at times on when the shows are broadcasted. Instead you download the episode (whether that is its release time of say 830pm monday night) or live or delayed coverage of a sports event. you pick the time you want to view it (its great for stats too). all 7, 9 and 10 are investing hevily in there websites and most people now are taking up broadband and a ever increasing rate. I think it will me more like picking up the tv guide as like a menu and picking something... instead of waiting for a certain time to watch things.

Tiff is gold, I love that guy. He just comes across as the James Bond of cars if you will.

Richard: They've shown a round of Le Man seris on foxtel too. When is porsche racing on, and what series, porsche cup?? From which country??

Dangerous_Daveo: They pay for coverage of drifting

porsche racing is sporadically covered, ten show it too, but generally like 10 rounds at once. then nothing for 8 months :) it was euro porsche cup. from memory, and farking awesome to watch. yeah they have le mans too sometimes.

yeah you cant help but get caught up in tiffs excitment as he explains how much more slide angle he can get with the different traction control settings on a brand new F430, or watching him pound the curb sideways in a M5 V10 while saying what nice seats it has and how the engine is 'fabulous'!

I just watched him in a fifth gear episode last night testing the new corvette z06

"you could enter this car in one of those drifting competitions, and you would win it hands down"

i have always felt that tiff is a drifter at heart, someone should enter him in a comp!!!

"sorry tyres!"

hahahhaha no you fcuk knuckle!!.... is the track in the background 'Paul Ricard Circit'...

thanx for that i havent laughed all day!!

LOL!!

omg im an idiot, i was thinking jeez that guy is pretty blonde hasnt he been reading the other posts!!!!

ive been studying for this stupid exam on monday and its driven me crazy!!

yes it is paul ricard!!!! hahahaha~!!!!!!

CH7 will play 21hrs more coverage next year than this year. V8TV Limited will be formed which is in charge of the production of the races and V8 shows and then sold to Ch7. V8TV will tender out for a production house to do these packages. Expect next year to get live Saturday Qual as well. Also a V8 only show goiung to air on non race weekends. With all this I cant see too many viewers dropping off.

Could'nt give a rats arse who airs the V8's, I have'nt bothered to watch it in years.....FAR rather watch some grass roots motorsport, long for the old Group A days with the Mustangs, Volvo's, BM's, Nissans etc....sigh.

And fwiw i'd have to give the latest series of 5th Gear the nod over Top Gear :D

    • If as it's stalling, the fuel pressure rises, it's saying there's less vacuum in the intake manifold. This is pretty typical of an engine that is slowing down.   While typically is agree it sounds fuel related, it really sounds fuel/air mixture related. Since the whole system has been refurbished, including injectors, pump, etc, it's likely we've altered how well the system is delivering fuel. If someone before you has messed with the IACV because it needed fiddling with as the fuel system was dieing out, we need to readjust it back. Getting things back to factory spec everywhere, is what's going to help the entire system. So if it idles at 400rpm with no IACV, that needs raising. Getting factory air flow back to normal will help us get everything back in spec, and likely help chase down any other issues. Back on IACV, if the base idle (no IACV plugged in) is too far out, it's a lot harder for the ECU to control idle. The IACV duty cycle causes non linear variations in reality. When I've tuned the idle valves in the past, you need to keep it in a relatively narrow window on aftermarket ecus to stop them doing wild dances. It also means if your base idle is too low, the valve needs to open too much, and then the smallest % change ends up being a huge variation.
    • I guess one thing that might be wrong is the manifold pressure.  It is a constant -5.9 and never moves even under 100% throttle and load.  I would expect it to atleast go to 0 correct?  It's doing this with the OEM MAP as well as the ECU vacuum sensor. When trying to tune the base map under load the crosshairs only climb vertically with RPM, but always in the -5.9 column.
    • AHHHH gotchaa, I'll do that once I am home again. I tried doing the harness with the multimeter but it seems the car needed a jump, there was no power when it was in the "ON" position. Not sure if I should use car battery jump starter or if its because the stuff that has been disconnect the car just does send power.
    • As far as I can tell I have everything properly set in the Haltech software for engine size, injector data, all sensors seem to be reporting proper numbers.  If I change any injector details it doesnt run right.    Changing the base map is having the biggest change in response, im not sure how people are saying it doesnt really matter.  I'm guessing under normal conditions the ECU is able to self adjust and keep everything smooth.   Right now my best performance is happening by lowering the base map just enough to where the ECU us doing short term cut of about 45% to reach the target Lambda of 14.7.  That way when I start putting load on it still has high enough fuel map to not be so lean.  After 2500 rpm I raised the base map to what would be really rich at no load, but still helps with the lean spots on load.  I figure I don't have much reason to be above 2500rpm with no load.  When watching other videos it seems their target is reached much faster than mine.  Mine takes forever to adjust and reach the target. My next few days will be spent making sure timing is good, it was running fine before doing the ECU and DBW swap, but want to verify.  I'll also probably swap in the new injectors I bought as well as a walbro 255 pump.
    • It would be different if the sealant hadn't started to peel up with gaps in the glue about ~6cm and bigger in some areas. I would much prefer not having to do the work take them off the car . However, the filler the owner put in the roof rack mount cavities has shrunk and begun to crack on the rail delete panels. I cant trust that to hold off moisture ingress especially where I live. Not only that but I have faded paint on as well as on either side of these panels, so they would need to come off to give the roofline a proper respray. My goal is to get in there and put a healthy amount of epoxy instead of panel filler/bog and potentially skin with carbon fiber. I have 2 spare rolls from an old motorcycle fairing project from a few years back and I think it'd be a nice touch on a black stag.  I've seen some threads where people replace their roof rack delete with a welded in sheet metal part. But has anyone re-worked the roof rails themselves? It seems like there is a lot of volume there to add in some threads and maybe a keyway for a quick(er) release roof rack system. Not afraid to mill something out if I have to. It would be cool to have a cross bar only setup. That way I can keep the sleek roofline that would accept a couple bolts to gain back that extra utility  3D print some snazzy covers to hide the threaded section to be thorough and keep things covered when not using the rack.
