i have an series2 r33 rb25det

the following is the selection of modification components that i am in the process of purchasing

i am just after opinions as to turbo selection in this setup

i am not chasing massive top end power, just a well tuned, quick streeter. i consider a quick streeter around mid 12's

- sustec pro coil-overs

- bridgestone potenza's on 17inch work rims

- apexi pod

- hybrid fmic

- full exhaust - split dump - 3inch front pipe - 3inch high flow cat - HKS 3 inch system

- hks ssqv

- apexi avcr

- sard FPR

- Denso performance pump (rated around 300l/ph)

- inlet plenum (possibly bigger throttle body)

- 550cc injectors (considering high flowing standards???)

- apexi power FC

- stainless low mount manifold

- gt30r ( this is where i need opinions. should i retain the standard t3 flange or go for a bigger option?) also what other turbo's have the capability of performing what im after. also would it be an option to externally gate it with a screamer pipe or best not to????

thanks

Your on the right track but you could save a few $$$ and buy other things..

- apexi pod = K&N panel filter in the standard air box (no defect)

- hks ssqv = waist of money! keep the stock BOV

- apexi avcr = PFC boost kit instead or even a $35 turbotech will be fine up to 18psi

Use the SEARCH button... there are 100's of threads regarding this topic

Cheers

you wont need all that stuff

dont need :

plenum or Throttle body

sard FPR

low mount manifold - std would be fine for that typeturbo/power

GT30R, will still be laggy even in the 0.64 rear housing trim .. full boost at about 4000rpm .. and is externally gated

but should get your mid 12's goal.. then again a 2535 running 245rwkw can get 12.5

suggest something smaller like the 2835 ..

check out the RB25 results thread ..

anything will around 250-270 rwkw will get you the 12's your after

maybe the stock bov was stuffed. i know mine is, so is a mate of mine's. both leak at idle, and mine leaks up in the revs too.

and what stuff do you already have, and what are you getting, cause in your post in the dyno section you have some stuff listed. would've made more sense to say what you had, and what you were getting.

spot on, forget the plunum. the money you would spend on the plenum spend on suspension instead, to help you get the power down. and gt30 is probably a touch laggy on the streeter side. there are probably better suitable turbos to give you some good average power,

r33 hiflow

hks gt-rs

hks 2835

garrett 2871

You are on the money with this one Paul. Might be worth having a look at www.nengun.com for the RB25 GTRS turbo kit with injectors Power PC ect

If you only want 12's

Forget the following:

FPR

GT30r

Stainless Manifold

BOV

Plenum

Just saved the best part of 4k-5k there....

All you need is:

550cc injectors

PowerFC

Full exhaust

Better I/C

GCG hi-flow/HKS 2835 (bolt on replacements)

EBC of some kind

Decent clutch

You dont need anything more than 220-240rwkw for mid 12's on street tyres.

Any more spending is going overboard for no reason.

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
