but in all seriousness you will need somthing that can make the figure at 18psi or under unless a head gasket is part of your plans?

EDIT

You have a forged engine...get a 30307s

already fitted with metal head gasket andy.

Turbo for 300 plus rwkw rb25. Whats the best bang for buck.

Low mount, standard manifold. HKS item. something like a 25/40R or step up to a 28 series turbo.

Hyflows are good, and I wont diss the hyflowed mention as its been a top performer, but atthe end of the days its not a HKS item.

The red R33 from the sunnie coast that was at the dyno day makes 270rwkw on a HKS 25/30 so the above mentioned gives u room to grow.

yeah I didnt read it all ha ha

3037s or GT30 with the .64 housing with a decent whack of boost it should make the power and not be overly laggy

The GT30 can be had with the internal gate too which might interest you

internal gate does indeed interest me. can that turbo be low mounted?

Correct, but nothing quite gives the punch of a nice little HKS item

what peak output do you think is achieavable with the stage 3 hiflows josh. With supporting mods of course.

It can...I can show you some pics if you like...high mount is more convenient but

This is true....But it probably wont quite get to 300rwkw

A GTRS might get close...i didnt know this but apparetntly they are based on a T28 frame not a T25

Whats a stage 3, whos stage 3? specs!!! Stage 3 in 1990 was like a VL hiflow with a t04 wheel. more info bish

Appreciate your input fellas. I am starving and the old girl has gone to sydney for the weekend. I better go buy some food.

A little idea of mine for you to think about.

Has anybody ever thought of going to a largish punchy turbo and using "phase in boost" In other words. Not nos for high end output but nos that is there instantly and just phases out as boost comes on giving you an unbelievably flat power curve for a turbo motor. Been thinkin bout it for a while now. What are your thoughts, back in 30

The maroon R33 at the dyno day makes 270rwkw on a hks 25/30....

Noels car with the headgasket, cooler, ecu, fuel systsem and with the 25/40 should get the 300rwkw pretty easy, in a good rev range. Cams will only sweeten the deal, I might be wrong, it's been a while since ive played with turbos. Using the Maroon R33 as the base, and what ive used in the past as the reason to my madness.

Highflows are all well and good..but at the end of the day, if I was you (and you could afford it), i'd change your turbo. Like Josh and I are saying..either a 25/40..3037s...or practicly anything in the mid to large HKS range are some of the best turbos available. However you can get the same type of turbos in the garrett range, for less money.

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
    • It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.
    • If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.
    • Lock me in mate, although I'm not sure if I'll be heading up from Goulburn or down from Sydney, either way, return will be back to Goulburn
