hey guys,

in the middle of wiring a 25 into a r32, can someone point out for me which wire exactly is the 'grey injector wire by the main engine bay plug'? Is this referring to the ecu plug, or something actually in the engine bay? Because I cant work out what you're on about lol!

Cheers man, great guide otherwise. Should be able to fire it up today if I get a wuick answer. Cheers

Oh great read this is, ill be attacking this conversion shortly. ill be buying an series one rb25 minus coilpacks, turbo and loom. Is it possible to run an aftermarket ecu for eg microtech ltx12s and the standard rb20 ecu together?

I was told that the rb20 ecu and loom will run all the electrics air con and so forth and the microtech will run fuel ignition etc. If anyone could clear that up for me or anything that would be much appreciated!

Jase...

Awesome write up!

I wish I had this when i did mine!

Did you find that the car progressivly began to start harder and harder?

Im almost certain that the car starts too rich.

At first in a 1/4 of a crack it kicked alive.. but now it will crank for 4 or so full rotations before it kicks..

If so.. how did you overcome this?

just had a RB25VCT/30 put in my 32gtst thought i might aswell post pics and point out that although i have heard of people using the RB25 inlet manifold we couldn t get it to fit under the (aftermarket)bonnet because the RB30 block sits around 40mm taller in the engine bay. So now my RB has a greddy manifold(RB20 throttle), which then necessitated moving the clutch master cylinder along the firewall closer to the brake booster. Also changed the gearbox to the 25 and changed the tailshaft. Trying now to get the RB20 ecu to run this setup with SAFCII(still considering ecu options), still alot of work to do however this should give an idea of how it fits in the 32 bay.

i would be looking at your cold start system. sometimes it takes a bit...might be your o2 sensor...at a guess.

looking good buddy, who made the plate to fit the standard throttle body to that plenum?? cause i dont want to get another throttle body lol. as for moving the clutch master i am getting a shortened one (clutch master that is). i am also running an rb25 loom and ecu and rb25 box, i only had to change the yoke on the tail shaft too, whoever says you need a whole new shaft is wrong..

Will put up pics when i am all done.

i just had my conversion done. the only problem i hav, is the slight vibration on 1-2k rev... i had jus checked my tail shaft and its in perfect condition .

thus i was told that this vibration might be caused by the gearbox mounting, that's not aligned. Currently i only had 2 screws screwed to the mounting. Could this be the main reason my gearbox is vibrating?

Besides the tailshaft issue, any other known cause?

-oops, sorry for the spelling, im too used to typing over the mobile phone....

    • Depending on how long the car sat it is very possible for injectors to be stuck open or closed, I'd get them cleaned and flow tested. Other than that, obviously when the loom changes and the car doesn't start any more....the loom is suspect so some tracing / comparing may be required
    • Harness is for a s1 Rb25det, and it is engine and lower harness.  the old harness had broken off plugs and was in very rough condition/exposed wires and splices etc. it is not able to be put back on the car, I could visually inspect to see if they had rewired any pins on the ecu plug. The fuel pump definitly isn’t turning off it’s an external pump and very loud you can hear it. Will look at the other harness tonight, am also going to pull the fuel rail and watch the injectors spray, will update here with what I find. Pretty sure at this point it has to be something to do with injectors because car will fire up on starting fluid and cas is clicking the Injectors. Fuel pressure is steady 43psi
    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
