Recommended Posts

I have three part time jobs:

1. Random odd jobs at a motormechanic, when I have time to go there in between uni

2. Making pizzas, and very occasionly doing deliveries

3. washing dishes at a resteraunt.

I'm also doing 1st year bach of mechanical engineering and business at Swinburne in Hawthorn.

do you drive past 'the hawthorn' at around 12:30 or so most mondays, as i am normally eating a parma and see a black 32 with stickers on it drive past....

I did a Bach of Eng (Robotics and Mechatronics) and Bach App Sci (Computer Science and Software engineering) for 6 years at swinny, worked part time as a software tester for the second half of my course, now have been a software engineer/developer for the last year and a half at a bio med company. Currently deciding what to do when my contract expires at the end of June, stay or go somewhere new

Ahh, the good ol' $10 parma and pot, they were good. I noticed the size of the parma go down over the years I was there though :D

do you like the course, its what i plan todo in 2008

i'm kinda disliking it now coz i'm struggling lol. alot of work, mostly theory and it's pretty hard (for me anyway).

but yeah first two years are in the city and they're pretty boring. mechanical/aerospace/automotive students are together in years 1 and 2.

years 3 and 4 are in bundoora campus and should be better coz we'll be doing more and bigger projects. 4th year there's the formula SAE project car which we'll be working on.

what makes it difficult, i know im going to suck with the maths, thats the only thing that shitted me in the course outline, everything else seemed very coold

Completed Year 12 in 2003 and absolutely had enough with school and studying so I didnt carry on to uni. That was back in perth

3/4 of 2004 Whilst back in Perth, I worked for a company called Austrahose, which is a Direct Importer/Supplier of Hose and Fittings (to the smaller hose+fitting shops and mining industry). I worked in Sales and service over there. Was good fun.

Being originally from Melbourne, I moved back over after getting a job.

Since September 2004, I work as a Full time Sales Consultant for Wurth Australia. Massive German company that is heavily involved in the Automotive/engineering industry. I look after the North Eastern suburbs (Cambpellfield,Fawkner, Reservoir, Thomastown, Epping, Lalor, Millpark, Preston etc) and really enjoy it. Im around cars almost all day, get to know plenty of good people, good customers in the panel and mechanical trade to work on my car etc. I look after some pretty cool customers as well, such as the FPR (ford perf racing) Supercar team, Prodrive, Monaro Performance, Rajab Racing, Promaz, Selectmaz, JPC etc.

I work for Just Car Insurance.

When I had finished yr 12 wanted to be a chopper pilot in the army, sorta want to live life a bit before big commitments.

In the last year my cousin has persuaded me to join the Police force, so in the next year it may be, I have my test in 2 months  .

I did that test. Seriously easy....if you know anything about maths or english(like adding up and spelling simple words) you'll be fine

Beef cattle farmer in the Yarra Valley, been doing it for the last 9 years now.

Prior to that I worked in IT as well, last role was at Telstra managing the computer systems for a development group, I had a corner office on the 30th floor of a building that gave me sweeping views across the whole bay - I miss that office - do not miss Telstra though.

    • You are selling this? I have never bought something from marketplace...i dont know if i trust that enough. And the price is little bit "too" good...

    • It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about. Reliability of everything in a 34 drops MASSIVELY above the 300kw mark. Keeping everything going great at beyond that value will cost ten times the $. Clutches become shit, gearboxes (and engines/bottom ends) become consumable, traction becomes crap. The good news is looking legalish/actually being legal is slighly under the 300kw mark. I would make the assumption you want to ditch the stock plenum too and want to go a front facing unit of some description due to the cross flow. Do the bends on a return flow hurt? Not really. A couple of bends do make a difference but not nearly as much in a forced induction situation. Add 1psi of boost to overcome it. Nobody has ever gone and done a track session monitoring IAT then done a different session on a different intercooler and monitored IAT to see the difference here. All of the benefits here are likely in the "My engine is a forged consumable that I drive once a year because it needs a rebuild every year which takes 9 months of the year to complete" territory. It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about with this car.
    • By "reverse flow", do you mean "return flow"? Being the IC having a return pipe back behind the bumper reo, or similar? If so... I am currently making ~250 rwkW on a Neo at ~17-18 psi. With a return flow. There's nothing to indicate that it is costing me a lot of power at this level, and I would be surprised if I could not push it harder. True, I have not measured pressure drop across it or IAT changes, but the car does not seem upset about it in any way. I won't be bothering to look into it unless it starts giving trouble or doesn't respond to boost increases when I next put it on the dyno. FWIW, it was tuned with the boost controller off, so achieving ~15-16 psi on the wastegate spring alone, and it is noticeably quicker with the boost controller on and yielding a couple of extra pounds. Hence why I think it is doing OK. So, no, I would not arbitrarily say that return flows are restrictive. Yes, they are certainly restrictive if you're aiming for higher power levels. But I also think that the happy place for a street car is <300 rwkW anyway, so I'm not going to be aiming for power levels that would require me to change the inlet pipework. My car looks very stock, even though everything is different. The turbo and inlet pipes all look stock and run in the stock locations, The airbox looks stock (apart from the inlet being opened up). The turbo looks stock, because it's in the stock location, is the stock housings and can't really be seen anyway. It makes enough power to be good to drive, but won't raise eyebrows if I ever f**k up enough for the cops to lift the bonnet.
    • There is a guy who said he can weld me piping without having to cut chassis, maybe I do that ? Or do I just go reverse flow but isn’t reverse flow very limited once again?
