Weird Noise From Turbo Area

just the other day i noticed a loud hissing sound on my R33 coming from the turbo area..

i thought it might have been a leak on the turbo to dump pipe gasket, so i took the dump pipe off and applied some gasket maker on the gasket.. i put it back together and took it for another spin and im still getting the same noise..

it cant be a leak in the intake piping as the car wouldnt run properly..

the noise comes on as soon as i hit boost and rev it over 3500rpm, it sounds heaps louder than it should, almost as if there is an exhaust leak.. the car pulls good, but im just curious as to what this noise might be?

any help would be appreciaited?

turbo is HKS 2530kai

Manifold gasket if the car is "louder" than normal.

One of the more common maintainance problems

If you get right in there its probably coming from the manifold-->block

Failing that the dump still isnt sealing, but bets on for the one above first

im hoping to god it isnt that, as i have replaced it like 3 times already, and they arent cheap(around $120).. im gonna have to take off all the piping tommorow and have a look..

if the turbo to manifold gasket is leaking would it make a similar noise?

3 times? Is it being installed correctly?

I never broke one, and i had the manifold off heaps of times when i was playing around with stuff

lol.. yeh i installed it correctly, its just that ive had 3 faulty manifolds so far..

my last 3 manifolds were aftermarket ones and they kept on cracking near the flange where the turbo sits.. people suggested it was faulty engine mounts that caused it, so i had to weld some supporting frames around there to hold it properly..

anyway, this is why i dont think it would be that particular gasket, as its pretty new, although ill check it out tommorow along with the turbo to manifold gasket..

you think it might be something to do with my BOV venting air?

had the same problem 2 times now and each time it was the same thing.

exhaust manafold to turbo. the bolts come lose there if you have changed the turbo or gasket at anytime. the little metel tabs there that stop the bolts from coming undone (did you put them back on when you replaced the turbo?) are ment to be replaced if you ever replace a gasket, or they will work there way lose after a few months, and burn through your gasket.

ive experienced this problem in the past also.. i forgot to put the metal tabs back on, and one day i noticed the 2 bolts were missing.. ill double check that tommorow aswell though..

couldnt help it, i went and checked the manifold to turbo bolts, they are intact and tightened..
