Tyre Pressures?

Just got new rims for my r33 and just wanted 2 no wot tyre pressure i should have 4 235/40 r18 tyres?

I woud run about 34 - 36 psi in them, cos of the design of the castor swings on the front wheels, and the weight of the car, i would stick at least 34 but not much more than about 36 cos of the 18's cos you will feel every bump in the road.

i run 40 psi in my cars.

Do you run 18 inch wheels? and are your wheels still a nice sound shape? If you answer yes to both of these, I would go to your local tyre Tech and ask them to spin your wheels and seeif they have flat spots.

18 Inch wheels do not like High pressure and low profile tyres, kind of a bad mix on Australian Roads. They like to go a little flat in some places when you do have high pressure.

also are we talking hot or cold pressure? hot and cold pressure and vary by up to about 8psi.

All Tyre pressure rates are based on cold pressure.

Tyres should be checked when cold. not after you have driven on them for an hour.

just thought someone better point it out so that they aren't driving around town the checking the pressures and letting air out to get them to the right pressure.

often tyre placards have a hot and cold temp on them.

on the skyline i run 235/40/18s front and 265/35/18s back...car was in for a check up at a suspension/tyre specialist few weeks back and all was well...apparently still life in the tyres after over a year of driving at 40 psi..

I just bought some Hankook K104's 255/40/17 and the tyre place told me to run them at 42psi as they are a Silica compond. I have G3 Potenza's at the front and they set those at 38psi.

It was a surprise to me as I previously ran the car at 32psi all round.
