I'm not sure on pricing but one mistake I made is not checking hte part before it was installed.

Make sure you do this!!! Mainly checking for welds and other restrictions.. all welds should either be on the outside or ground back so not to cause any undue turbulance and restriction.

ok mate, this is a really bad question to ask the people here, as everyone is going to rave about their own exhaust, or spit out brand names that cost thousands...

my opinion is that an exhaust, as long as its flow is fine, does not need to have a brand name or anything like that in order to make power.

I think the loudness of an exhaust is related to

- its age

- type of muffler

- presence/absence of resonator/second muffler

Thus... when factoring in price, loudness, and power, i believe the best option is to get a setup that comprises a custom cat-back and cheap dump/front off the forums

So keeping in mind that a "turbo-back" exhaust consists of

- dump pipe

- front pipe

- cat

- cat-back

i reccommend the following:

1) dump/front pipe in one from BATMBL: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=74022

2) 3" cat from BATMBL: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=74022

3) custom 3" mandrel-bent exhaust including new muffler and resonator: see your local exhaust shop and shop around for a few prices...

This should all up cost you less than $1000 and see you a decent increase in the seat-o-the-pants-o-meter

cheers,

Warren

I'd just go mild steel from a local exhaust shop.

I paid $600 (without a hi-flow cat), that was a new dump and full 3" mandrel exhaust.

Cheaper than stainless... and realistically, you dont need stainless.

You cant see it, so who cares?

personally i'd go the x-force mild steel from cat back. $699 from justjap (go to your local shop and ask them for a price and if justjap are cheaper then see if they can match or better that price). if you go with the batmbl dump/front pipe and cat you are up to over $600 and still have to get a cat back system, which you won't get for under $200 as it costs about that much just for a decent muffler.

    • @GTSBoy This method was able to get readings of -10 to -2, so it looks like its monitoring.  Now I need to figure out why the vacuum on the line provided isn't alternating with manifold pressure.  I went with 2 lines that an RB25 tuner recommended but I'll get a longer hose and try directly off the back of the manifold.  He may have been used to OEM intake setups while I have a DBW setup that removed the MAF and IACV.
    • I work at a car detailing and tinting shop called Quark which gets all manner of German cars in usually (mainly due to a contract with Mercedes Benz Kita Osaka, BMW Nishinomiya and others) but every once in a while something special comes in, like a fully restored 1972 HS30 Nissan Fairlady 240ZG... The shop owner had immediately started applying film to the windows as soon as it was in the shop so the interior was completely covered in towels and plastic sheets. But I could get a few photos of the engine bay which was restored like new. Such an amazing car to see in pristine condition in Japan these days.
    • Was going to say the car pulls up nicely everywhere, especially going into that last long right hander before the main straight. Looks like a lot of fun.
    • Hey Dave, welcome aboard! Good to see another soon-to-be Stagea owner here. The wagons are awesome — plenty of space, still got that Skyline DNA, and loads of potential if you’re into mods. Definitely post up pics when you get it, everyone here loves seeing new builds. What model/year are you looking at?
