dezz i will give you pricing soon. as i got r33 and just have to work it out :D

Dazi will work on it on 16th of june bro, quick Q's how come u're in the Skyline australia man????

i don't get it.....

Adzmaxwhat you are lookin there is NISMO bonnet vents, yes i can turn your bonnet into it, but i prefer to do somethin different for r34, got the design in my mind already... :D

KEV... your car is well in progress man...

  • 1 month later...

As promised I took a couple of pics of the bonnet that freddy made for me, its only been placed on the car and has'nt been fitted along with the light covers etc. All I can say is that I would recomend Freddy (TopStage) to anyone, his done a mint job and exactly what I wanted. I'll put more pics up once the car is painted etc. Hopefully in the booth next weekend...

PIMP DAT- 250-260 on only .9 bar is unreal mate cant wait to see it.

Adzmax- Yeah mate it looks very similar, I still thought the real one had a bit too much venting. I cant believe how slow everything is going, but it will get there before summer :P, we will def have to go for a cruise when its back on the road.

Just a query, when changing bonnets to CF or adding large vents, does it need an engineering cert? I've heard conflicting advice, some people say it does not, as it's like a body kit, others say it does, as it alters the cumple zone characteristics.

I only ask as I'm considering a new bonnet for my 32, and am floating up going CF or getting a GTR bonnet and putting a vent where the air pod is.

DAZ, THat is niceeeeeeee dazzzz.. make sure you bring your bitch around once finished mate....

Adzmax for production, we have R34 single dip that we are releasing very soon. that nismo slats style vents are bad news for RB coil packs man i the rain...... guaranteed in couple of weeks in rainy days you'll be crying for new sets. that's why i do single vented for skylines ( caring for customers here :( )

BUT.... if you want moulded on the existing bonnet, i'll do it and i will place drip tray underneath them to protect the coil packs.

Kozeyekan the facts is.... if you have fiberglass or CFreinforced with fiberglass bonnet, you'll be safe as long as it has crumple zone. it has to be specified in the product specs. because conventional CF bonnet will snap on the hinge part and it will be bad news.

the safest bet for you is... do waht DAZ did, modify your OEM bonnet.

attached couple of my multi slats vents that is available now ready to mould it on your bonnet.

I like the look of that. Could you PM me a rough quote to modify a GTS-4 bonnet to include a smaller, side mounted vent? (i.e. above the pod) or something similiar?

    • Bit of a pity we don't have good images of the back/front of the PCB ~ that said, I found a YT vid of a teardown to replace dicky clock switches, and got enough of a glimpse to realize this PCB is the front-end to a connected to what I'll call PCBA, and as such this is all digital on this PCB..ergo, battery voltage probably doesn't make an appearance here ; that is, I'd expect them to do something on PCBA wrt power conditioning for the adjustment/display/switch PCB.... ....given what's transpired..ie; some permutation of 12vdc on a 5vdc with or without correct polarity...would explain why the zener said "no" and exploded. The transistor Q5 (M33) is likely to be a digital switching transistor...that is, package has builtin bias resistors to ensure it saturates as soon as base threshold voltage is reached (minimal rise/fall time)....and wrt the question 'what else could've fried?' ....well, I know there's an MCU on this board (display, I/O at a guess), and you hope they isolated it from this scenario...I got my crayons out, it looks a bit like this...   ...not a lot to see, or rather, everything you'd like to see disappears down a via to the other side...base drive for the transistor comes from somewhere else, what this transistor is switching is somewhere else...but the zener circuit is exclusive to all this ~ it's providing a set voltage (current limited by the 1K3 resistor R19)...and disappears somewhere else down the via I marked V out ; if the errant voltage 'jumped' the diode in the millisecond before it exploded, whatever that V out via feeds may have seen a spike... ....I'll just imagine that Q5 was switched off at the time, thus no damage should've been done....but whatever that zener feeds has to be checked... • I think Fitmit had some, have a look on there (theyre Australian as well)
    • Hah, fair enough! But if you learn with this one you can drive any other OEM manual. No modern luxury features like auto rev-matching or hillstart assist to give you a false sense of confidence. And a heavy car with not that much torque so it stalls easily.
    • Actually, I'd say all three are the automatic option. Just the different trim levels. The manual would be RSFS, no?
