So my car has been sitting in a workshop for 9 weeks next monday...and has not been started.

Its a S2 R33 GTS-T.

Hoping to pick it up next week, so i was just wondering what issues, if any should i look out for and look to prevent if possible?

I'm expecting the fuel to be shit (3/4 tank :P) so i'll just drive around nice and easy till thats all gone....was also thinking of putting in a bottle of injector cleaner when i pick it up...

New clutch will be in, so i'll be taking it easy for the first few hundred k's anyway...

Any other issues that may arise?

do these engines shit themselves after having not been started? knowing my luck, ill start it, and it'll go bang!

Thanks

Dezz

i'd soo laugh if it went bang :P

...jokes dezzy my boy lol, i know what its like for ur engine (engines in my case) to let go on u...y not be on the safe side and drain the petrol and replace it straight away?

i'd also make sure u prime the car for a fair bit before u go to crank her over, that's about all i got to add other than cross ur fingers hehe

Is it advisable to use injector cleaner anyway?

I was considering this lately.

I've always avoided these additives in the past as a rule of thumb. they're usually not very good or useful.

But i've heard ppl on this forum using them, better fuel economy, smoother idel, etc.

opinions ???

also, sorry for hijacking, i have a habit of doing that. but it's ok, coz i dont care :P

thanks for the replies (except the hijack, please start your own thread or search)

I used injector cleaner when the car was first imported, but havent used it since...dont really see the need if you're using good fuel all the time which we do.

the last thing i need is for the engine to go after all this

lol, you told me off for hijacking, then answered my question anyways. excellent.

i dont see why you'd have probs just coz the car has been sitting.

except for maybe a low battery and 'stale' fuel. but nothing serious.

dezz, im pretty sure if the engine did munch itself, ud cry, caus i know i would, if it was just because the fuel was stale.

so do the right thing and change that fuel, hell im sure u can find a use for it somewhere else

It'll be fine mate. Our cars sit on the dock for even longer before we get them.

I can't remmeber how long it was, but I think the buying, shipping, sitting, compliance etc of my car was about 6 months.

Just drive easy. You don't need injector cleaner or octane booster or anything.

i imported my car, and it was no where near 6 months for me...thats why i bothered with this thread

My car was moved from the auction house to the docks, where it sat for 3 weeks...it was started when the guy in japan went to take some photos for me (i have a photo of it at idle) and then again when driven onto the boat.

2 weeks later it was driven off, and then could only have been left turned off for a max of 2-3 weeks

thanks for the reply though. hopefully its all good

My car took 6 months. Also, many cars just sit at the auction holding yard waiting to be sold and stuff for ages. A soarer that we imported sat for 9 months before it was bought.

Basically, it'll be fine. I wouldn't worry about the fuel or anything. E.g. my car, on the dock, it needed a jump start, drove it straight off the dock to hobbs brothers, where I then drove it to compliance. simple.

    • You'lll likely have to make do with R33 GTR for engine/tranny stuff, and Stagea for the body. I don't know that there's even been an actual diagram seen in the wild.
    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
