Sorry to be negative, these are great turbo's and very responsive, however I have a pair on my GTR and it only makes 321 RWHP on X-speeds dyno at 16psi tuned by SCALI ! So 600ps I would love to see !

Any one with any suggestions on tuning these for the 400 odd RWHP they claim can be easily done would be appreciated, my GTR has all the usual mods and some, excluding cams!

When I purchaed the car the previous owner claimed it made 275rwkw however it was not even making 275rwhp.

Before you damage this sellers thread, maybe you should do a little more research before you blame your cars apparent low HP figures on these turbos because the HP ratings geo88 has quoted *are* correct.

Get yourself some Tomei Poncams and lift your boost levels and if you want to discuss your vehicles setup in more detail, start a thread in forced induction about it.

Hey mate,

FYI, the data is from HKS NOT me. I never use this turbo before. If I have it wont be BRAND NEW. Also what is quote is 600ps at the crank @ 1 bar I believe. HKS alway use the data from the engine crank and not wheel. GTR is 4WD and I guess loss should be more.

If you want to argue if it can make 600ps or more, try put up a case with HKS itself for misleading u or what. I am selling a HKS turbo and using HKS data sheet. Thanks.

I make a easy 300awkw with these turbos. No idea what your problem is buddy they are among the best turbos out there for a street GTR.

Hey there Guys,

These are not HKS read the print on the side of turbo

Who told you they were HKS?

Hks does not have an equivilant to these

The ones you are refering to Geoff are the -7 that Garrett make...not -9's

Anyway having said that these Turbos are only worth $2700 approx new from suppliers

:D

Wrong.

You dont really know what you are talking about so you are out of line making such comments.

HKS turbos are based on Garrett turbos, thus the ID plate says Garrett, not HKS.

Fact: These ARE HKS GT-SS turbos

I know this not only as I use them on my own GTR, but I just verified the ID with another set I have access too.

Having said that, the price being asked by geo88 is entirely fair, and you have now been issued with a warning.

Tune Agent is an Australian dealer not a Japanese dealer, and they are selling Garrett GT series GT2860R turbos (that dont include wastegates either) claiming that the HKS equivilent to the Garrett they are selling, is the HKS GT-SS. This is also funny as the Garrett GT2860 is a much larger turbo than the GT-SS so its a very unaccurate comparison.

HKS GT-SS specifications, I suggest you have a read:

http://www.hks-power.co.jp/products/turbo/...ss/ac_gtss.html

You made a claim that geo88's turbos werent actually HKS GT-SS which wasnt correct, in future if you dont know for certain I suggest you dont post as its hardly fair on geo88 now is it?

Part numbers Match up. Maybe because HKS buy turbos from garret. Stick their badge on it and wastegate. Rate it 50 or so hp/ps more per turbo. Then sell it! And stings the poor person who buys it for not doing their homework! When they can get the same turbo from garret (wastegate not included). And avoid the marketing cost, extra badging cost, and repackaging cost! At the end of the day the item for sale is a HKS-GT-ss which is a Garret turbo part no. 707160-9 which is a GT2860R (without wastegate). Which is still cheap what geo88 selling it for when you add in the cost of new actuators

HKS use the housings, yes, but the internals are changed. Fin angles, spread, sizes, weights etc are generally different.

For example, the HKS item might well flow the same amount of air, but will have better response and get on boost earlier. Its the little things that make a difference. You pay the extra $$ to get on boost a few hundred RPM earlier and spool back up faster after getting off the gas.

I would love one of these GT-SS's on my SR20DET.. *drools*

Tekin. I have the GT-SS on my motor, ALL HKS is made by Garrett.

Sometimes HKS use garrett comp covers/ID plates. Sometimes they do not. The GT-SS has Garrett Comp covers and Garrett ID plates.

Please dont post if your not sure of something. The other website has them listed as you can get a Garrett equivalent as the cartridge is the same. Its the wheels that are different.

If you dont believe me, you can come see them on the motor in real life, and the HKS boxes, manuals and everything else HKS that comes with them in the HKS box :D

Arkhaeon - As i stated, the cartridge is still a Garrett item, the only changes are the Turbine and the Compressor wheels in the case of GT-SS.

Hope that clears up a little more confusion.

Back to the sale, good luck as they are priced perfectly having brought some into the country myself a few months ago.

Hey everyone,

If you dont believe it is HKS or some pirated turbo so be it. As far as I am concern and my source, this is a pair of Brand New HKS GT-SS Turbo. To those who think I can just buy a pair of HKS Actuator to fit onto a Garrett turbo. Think again, do HKS sell a kit for a Skyline T3 flange garrett in the very first place?

Only those who uses GT-SS on their GTR will know it, those who dont have or just hear the who-say, please stay away if you are not interested in buying. this is buy/sell thread not a technical discussion thread. Maybe you can start a thread to find out how GT-SS look like first. hehehe

Thanks for helping up. Sometime I just dont understand why some people have no intention of buying my GT-SS but go all out to discredit what I am selling. Only those who have the turbo know the difference, those who just quote from tuneagent is only a forum hero.

As far as I know Garrett made turbo for HKS with HKS specification on the fin and turbine. And HKS use garrett cartridge which is why there is the similar in part number for it. Thanks anyway. :(

Hey mate,

before you shoot your mouth off, I hope you have seen a pair of original HKS GT-SS turbo with HKS box with your very own eyes and tell if it is different from the one I am selling. If you have not seen one in your eyes and just quote from some website, think again before saying the word below.

Ask you a question, you have a T28bb on your Sr20DET. But after that you send your turbo to be high flow by some turbo expert. So is your turbo still a T28bb? It outflow a stock T28bb with the same part no.

This is the difference between a normal Garrett turbo with same parts number with the HKS one. As for the wastegate, I dont think you can buy it off the shell just like that for the GT-SS. I know it can come as a option for the HKS GT-2530 turbo I am using though. hehehe

Dude let me get this straight, all the best with the sale, my intentions weren't to hang sh!t on your turbos. That price is a very good buy for a brand new set of HKS GT-ss.

In relation to your previous entry: So what you are saying is a HKS GT-ss is a hi flow GT2860R? As for the wastegate whats so special about a HKS wastegate? A stiffer/heavier spring? Also any manufacture will sell you anything if you have a part number or can forward you to a distributor that will supply it you. They're all out there to make money, and that's a potential sale!

I am quite sure the HKS wastegate have stiffer or heavier spring for higher boost. I dont sell HKS product or is their agent so if you are interested, please check with the HKS agent / dealer in Australia. Though I must admit, I love to use HKS turbo if the pricing is right. I am sure the price I am selling is fair and cheaper than what a lot of people are paying for down here. Take note, I am not a dealer just a private seller. hehee

As for a part number, the garrett part no. is on the turbo itself. You should be more worry if I sell a turbo without a part number. It might be some 'made in china' GT28RS that most dudes are selling on ebay. At least mine is a HKS turbo maded by Garrett. hehe

Yes the HKS wastegates have heavier springs....if you undo the two nuts holding the actuator diaphram to the mounting plate there will be a green or yellow dot marked with paint....green dot is a 1bar spring and a yellow dot is a 1.2bar spring. A standard wastegate actuator has a 0.6-0.7bar spring.

Just for the record....these turbo's are GENUINE HKS GT-SS items....end of story!

good luck with the sale....i may just have a buyer for these....ill let you know.

    • Yeah, that's fine**. But the numbers you came up with are just wrong. Try it for yourself. Put in any voltage from the possible range and see what result you get. You get nonsense. ** When I say "fine", I mean, it's still shit. The very simple linear formula (slope & intercept) is shit for a sensor with a non-linear response. This is the curve, from your data above. Look at the CURVE! It's only really linear between about 30 and 90 °C. And if you used only that range to define a curve, it would be great. But you would go more and more wrong as you went to higher temps. And that is why the slope & intercept found when you use 50 and 150 as the end points is so bad halfway between those points. The real curve is a long way below the linear curve which just zips straight between the end points, like this one. You could probably use the same slope and a lower intercept, to move that straight line down, and spread the error out. But you would 5-10°C off in a lot of places. You'd need to say what temperature range you really wanted to be most right - say, 100 to 130, and plop the line closest to teh real curve in that region, which would make it quite wrong down at the lower temperatures. Let me just say that HPTuners are not being realistic in only allowing for a simple linear curve.
    • I feel I should re-iterate. The above picture is the only option available in the software and the blurb from HP Tuners I quoted earlier is the only way to add data to it and that's the description they offer as to how to figure it out. The only fields available is the blank box after (Input/ ) and the box right before = Output. Those are the only numbers that can be entered.
    • No, your formula is arse backwards. Mine is totally different to yours, and is the one I said was bang on at 50 and 150. I'll put your data into Excel (actually it already is, chart it and fit a linear fit to it, aiming to make it evenly wrong across the whole span. But not now. Other things to do first.
    • God damnit. The only option I actually have in the software is the one that is screenshotted. I am glad that I at least got it right... for those two points. Would it actually change anything if I chose/used 80C and 120C as the two points instead? My brain wants to imagine the formula put into HPtuners would be the same equation, otherwise none of this makes sense to me, unless: 1) The formula you put into VCM Scanner/HPTuners is always linear 2) The two points/input pairs are only arbitrary to choose (as the documentation implies) IF the actual scaling of the sensor is linear. then 3) If the scaling is not linear, the two points you choose matter a great deal, because the formula will draw a line between those two points only.
    • Nah, that is hella wrong. If I do a simple linear between 150°C (0.407v) and 50°C (2.98v) I get the formula Temperature = -38.8651*voltage + 165.8181 It is perfectly correct at 50 and 150, but it is as much as 20° out in the region of 110°C, because the actual data is significantly non-linear there. It is no more than 4° out down at the lowest temperatures, but is is seriously shit almost everywhere. I cannot believe that the instruction is to do a 2 point linear fit. I would say the method I used previously would have to be better.
