Ok I have a late model R32 GTR with about 450hp at crank, usual mods; nismo turbos, dump pipes, cam gears, boost, direct clutch (to be replaced) 18psi etc..

I have always wanted to have great response in a GTR, not outright top end speed but good enough. Since have seen the Mines R34 GTR DVD with keiichi Tsuchiya saying "its just too fast" I want one.

I was thinking if I should buy the Mines complete engine (stage 2) and get rid of my engine or should I rebuild my engine with similar mods (I beleive mines use Tomei internals).

Bearing in mind that a Mines complete stage 2 engine costs $21,000 (excluding freight and GST and labour fitting), I would love to have that sweet engine.

What do you people think? Shoud I rebuild with similar set up or just bite the bullet and get the engine and simplify life (but file for bankruptcy >_< ).

P.S. Mines Stage I RB26 costs approx. $16,000 (comes with R34 GT-R N1 turbos)

Mines Stage II RB26 costs approx. $21,000 (comes with HKS 2530 turbos)

The Mines R34 also has a host of other bits which make it that fast.

I believe it has different ratios in the diffs, gearbox and a Carbon Fibre tailshaft which make it consiberably quicker than a normal high hp car.

It just wont reach the V-max that other GTRs can.

pretty sure that mines use mines engine parts but i could be wrong. it's entirely up to you. if you think $20K+ is reasonable then by all means buy it. you could certainly get a similar package though for less money.

I would get these parts and build it here:

HKS step 2 2.8 litre kit

HKS 2530 turbos

HKS V-cam set-up

tomei full sump

carbon tailshaft

twin plate clutch with lightweight fly wheel (nismo coppermix)

ARC intercooler

Power FC ecu

SARD 700cc injectors

nismo air flow meters

HKS full piping kit (the one that replaces all pipes from turbo to plenum)

lots of head work (needed to fit the V-cam anyway i believe)

tomei oil pump

nismo fuel pump

nismo oil catch tank kit

carbon air box built around the pod filters

OS Giken close ratio box, or other similar box

Blitz SBC ID III or HKS EVC V

HKS or trust split dumps (or tomei dumps are quite nice too)

with a nice exhaust (maybe ARC or Amuse or veilside all make nice systems)

tuned for 100 octane

obviously there are lots of other bits you will need to make a nice car but this should give you a pretty kick ass and responsive package. it's what i'd do if i had to build one.

Could be as its a demonstration car, its specs should be in fluid form at all times. However the engine tested at the time definately was a complete stage II engine.

I agree diff ratios and carbon fibre tailshafs make it also faster, but the engine is still a masterpiece.

I think that it would be so much easier to buy an already built engine with the mods already done such as the Mines stage II as it would make things easier, such as not waiting for parts, machining costs, labour costs, problems with fitment etc... I could also go for a Mines complete car but I'm not made out of gold

Thanks guys for your response, it all helps.

Mate you would be surprised to know that all the above parts combined would probably exceed the $25,000 mark. Carbon tailfshafts and V-cam not exactly necessary just yet.

Well you do realise that when you factor in GST, Freight and all the other wonderful sums that get whacked ontop of import parts then you would be easily looking at over $25K as well.

HOWEVER IF i had the cash then i would go for the Mines option hands down!

In my eyes it doesn't get much better than the Mines 34!

Good luck with what ever you do!

yes they would be more than $25K much a much better package than a $25K engine in an otherwise standard car. V-cam and carbon shaft may not be neccessary but it is if you want a car with the same power and response as the mines 34.

Mines Demo R34GTR is fast. But it is not for customers and set engine up is diffrent between Demo car and for customers. Mines has Demo R34GTR for street drive that is not such fast whatever they asid same engine. So, Mines R34GTR in race truck is special set up, engine set up, ECU set up too.

let me put it this way, if you do youre own calculations on how many kgs have been lost on the mines r34 it doesnt add up. some weight saving has been done to the engine internals as well, for sure it has titanium rods etc and those diffs/gbox have different ratios as stated b4

question.. do mines supply the block and the like??

yeah you get full engine but you got to buy injectors/ecu/adj fpr/fuel pump after that

easiest way to do this is to sell your car and import another gtr with the engine installed

well the mines engine would be from an r34 gtr and not an r32 gtr so its an updated rb engine and r32's known for some problems so in my opinion if u buy it and can still live go for it because they are japanese pro's and not some people here who might rip u off and screw u over with some shiot work and as some one else u wont get it to repsond as good especially if u a 2.8 litre kit well anyway goodluck man and nice car by the way!!!

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
