Definitely will solve your misfire. Providing of course that the coils are the problem. But 99% of the time coils are the cause of misfiring.

I had the same problem on my R33 and just recently bought splitfire coils from Lynx corporation in Erina central coast. Also put in Splitfire triple platinum spark plugs. I now have no more misfiring and much crispier throttle response. It revs a lot smoother as well.

So in my opinion worth the investment.

Paul.

Have you tested the coils?

If they are not faulty, then its a plain waste of money. Splitfires are only as good as good condition stock coils

It could is a multitude of other problems, dirty AFM, dirty connections to the coils, plugs etc etc etc

hey all

iam thinking of buying split fire coils for my rb20det will the get rid off the misfire above 4000 rpm and make it run smother.

thanks

Dan

Spend $20 and change the plugs first. 99.9% of the time misfiring is caused by plugs.

 cheers :(

possibly get new plugs and run a smaller plug gap. helps firing and may make your need for coil packs go away. get a workshop to gap them if you dont know how to. i dont know how small a gap you shoud run ither sorry

correct me if im wrong anyone

splitfires are cheaper than standed coils if you shop around . i just brought a set from perfect run 580 bucks delivered to my door in 4 days from japan

You paid $100 for postage?!

They are around $486 converted from YEN and they do delivery by the weight, and coil packs are 1.8KG which is ~$40 to post to Australia. Should be able to have them for $526.

I just ordered some stuff from Perfect Run, the shipping was $55 which is equivelant to 2.5KG

Just out of curiosity, if you happen to have a problem with one or more of these coil units that were imported how do you have the warranty sorted out or coils replaced?

    • List all of your mods. It sounds like an aftermarket ECU hitting rev limiter. Like a valet mode, or a cold rpm limiter?
    • @Kapr Haha yeah thats the one. I missed that you had a built up engine, I wouldn't want to run it on there either then. It was good in my situation just to replace the original turbo on a stock engine. @MBS206Yep definitely not a replacement for anything name brand
    • You are selling this? I have never bought something from marketplace...i dont know if i trust that enough. And the price is little bit "too" good...

    • It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about. Reliability of everything in a 34 drops MASSIVELY above the 300kw mark. Keeping everything going great at beyond that value will cost ten times the $. Clutches become shit, gearboxes (and engines/bottom ends) become consumable, traction becomes crap. The good news is looking legalish/actually being legal is slighly under the 300kw mark. I would make the assumption you want to ditch the stock plenum too and want to go a front facing unit of some description due to the cross flow. Do the bends on a return flow hurt? Not really. A couple of bends do make a difference but not nearly as much in a forced induction situation. Add 1psi of boost to overcome it. Nobody has ever gone and done a track session monitoring IAT then done a different session on a different intercooler and monitored IAT to see the difference here. All of the benefits here are likely in the "My engine is a forged consumable that I drive once a year because it needs a rebuild every year which takes 9 months of the year to complete" territory. It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about with this car.
