Finally got my compliance plate and registration yesterday.

Been driving non stop since then and the car hasnt let me down. ...Everthing I had hoped for.

Used the Maguires products today and shes come up a treat.

First used soft gel wash

then paint cleaner

then water finish polish

..and will wax it tomorrow

is this the right way to do it? Maguires have got so many products that seem to do similar things.

Was hoping to see some of you tonight so I could have a run. Drove everywhere and couldnt find anyone willing to have a bit of fun.

Be seeing ya

says the one in the very shiny clean polished R33

am certainly loving it.

Car is a stocker but good things come to those who wait. Im a bit worried about my license though. Its such a smooth and quiet (stock exhaust) car that u dont even realise hoe fast your going. I only have 3 point left and crossing my fingers.

Will post some pics soon (after I wax it)

There IS a question in my first post!

No way that is completely wrong the way you have washed it! you haven't given meguirs enough money that way you need to buy the following and place on in the folowing way

1. shampoo that is a nice yellow colour that gets rid of air of the paint

2. a different class 2 type that gets rid of any left over air from the paint incase you didn't get it off from the 1st wash

3 class 3 air off paint remover

4 car shampoo & wash

5 car shampoo and wash cleaner

6. car shampoo and wash cleaner cleaner

OK honestly i think meguirs is a VERY good product but i really think they have gone over board in there range and are hopping for people like us who car dearly about our cars to buy everyone of their products this i think is all that you need!

1. First used soft gel wash

(2. deep cut polish or swirl remover if your car needs it)

3. finish with Gold class wax/polish

these are the only 3 products i have been using for the past 1. 5 years and works a treat... anything else really is overdoing it. Even my friend who details porsches told me the same!

My car sometimes after starting seems to idle eratically for a few seconds before idling normally.

Does anyone know what might cause this?

ALso how many ks do you guys get out of a full tank when driving at a medium to hard level?. Probab only been getting about 250-300 myself

I dont drive my car hard 100% of the time on average I get 450-500km's out of a tank. I generally change gears at 3000rpm around 90% of the time, whilst 7% is around 5000rpm and the rest around 6500rpm. If you only got 350km's out of a 60l tank, I'd suggest you have been floggin it far too hard, back off or you will do some damage, especially if the car was complianced with cheap oil also are you using BP ultimate98?. I get the same rev problem when starting the car, happens maybe once a fortnight... dunno what it is, could be something to do with the AFM.

whats the point in having a turbo if your going to be changing gears at 3000RPM.

ImPrOvIsE, if i drive, and shift at mostly 3000rpm - 4500rpm i'd probably get around 400km out of a tank, depends if you're driving on boost a lot too, be a lot different if you accelerate softly up to 5000rpm without generating much boost, than planting it from low revs to 5k. I have taken it easy for a whole tank before and managed 480km (city driving) and the fuel light had only just come on (sits on E for ages before the fuel light comes on).

paul 6000rpm all the time? how often you change your oil and oil filter?

chris.

The point is I like to get good milage and prolong the life of my engine and most of my driving is done going to and from work at peak times. The point of having the turbo is that when its late at night and I want to fang it I can. If you wish to drive like a ****nut and change gears *all* the time around 6000+ rpm go for it. Just dont whinge about your poor mileage. I'll ask my questions again, do you use BP Ultimate 98 and what engine oil was put into the car?

    • Before I get to the test day, just to finish off the android head unit. This is a demo from car start up....the standard/host system takes a few seconds to boot (same as all v37) but Android comes up quickly. In this vid I'm using the delivered launcher but have set the default to Agami since which is easier to navigate when if use primarily 5 apps. You can see the host system still takes over when required eg putting it in reverse, and you can switch between Android and not by holding the back button 3 sec. It is pretty responsive (fast) but you can see I had to press harder than expected a couple of times.  I still have the phone connected to the stock system, and that also seamlessly takes over Android music playing. v37-android-demo.mp4 The bigger reason that I put this in though is so that I can use Ecutek directly on the head unit. That gives me a dash with logging (up to 20MB only), high and low value warnings on any parameter etc etc. I've run a USB cable from the Ecutek OBD dongle to a USB input on the unit, easy. v37-ecutek-demo.mp4   The unit did freeze on the launcher the other day, I think Agami was trying to verify the license when it didn't have a data connection...will monitor and report back if there are any other problems but so far I'm very happy with the upgrade.
