as it says what kind of alarm should i get for my r33 2 door

should i just go for the one with the most tacky name, like stinger/hornet/viper?

i want one with remote start and remote central locking,

they have some good "no name brand" ones on ebay for around $200-300 would it be shit and if so how much do these things cost to get installed?

p.s thanks for all your help on the issues with my car everything yas have said has helped me in my quest to customising my beast, from replacing a 50 cent fuse that saved me going to an auto elec to installing a new stereo for my car, CHEERS!

An important thing to remember is that if your insurance policy specifies an australian standards certified immobiliser then make sure the one you buy one that meets the standard otherwise you will not be covered for theft (unless you have a separate A.S. immobiliser as well). Not all alarms; even locally sold ones meet the standards.

and how are you blowing htem? high volume, bumps?

no idea i turn off the car replace the fuse drive off 2 mins later the clock/stereo turns off iv tried it without the stereo on and it does it anyway.

last night i went to a dodgy looking servo got another fuse, it worked and is still working.....until it blows i guess.

i got no idea

I have a Viper Alarm, It is awesome.

Got all the things you want. Remote start and central locking etc etc.

here i made this video of the remote start.

Yep, got all the things a car thief would love, remote start!

Basically, find the module, trigger the remote start and the theif doesnt have to hot wire the car.

If you want to make your car harder to steal REMOVE the remote start module.

Not to mention that remote start is also Illegal and WILL void your insurance.

This topic has been covered a few times before, but for some more information, please check this out.

leave the remote start off it .. IF you MUST have remote start (assuming its an auto) then the austowatch 288 will do it properly at $1k fitted.

if you want a decent alarm that the insuance company likes send me a pm and I'll sell you one.

Turn on your parker lights, and see if that will blow the fuse - If so, run the black wire coming out of the stereo to a proper earth (e.g. under a screw into the metal dash support.) Common problem for lots of cars with people not knowing what they are doing - or 240v elecs that think the green wire means earth.

  • 2 weeks later...

When I bought my car, a mate recommended that I call Leon from www.securityinmotion.com.au He installed an Autowatch 446lri (read: South African, very paranoid) with built in turbo timer, shock sensor and remote boot release.

He is an absolute champion so go see him and get hooked up.

Cheers Christian.

    • If you mean the alarm immobiliser; theyre internal to the alarm itself which makes that difficult; I couldnt even see where he put it; its not in the same place as last time; but with all black wiring it might be very challenging to trace  I had someone turn the key for me as I know it only primes for a couple of seconds As my post above; I am getting no voltage to the pump at all; but I am testing continuity of the power line (SB) from the pump plug to the relay fine. As well as the negative from the pump plug to a 12V constant.    Yeah; he blammed the no start on a bad battery; said I needed to get a new battery and it'll start. Turns out the battery drained because the tail lights had been on for half the day during the install (the rubber cushion on the brake switch gave out while he was testing it as I have a picture of the car from that morning with the tail lights off..i've replaced that). The battery was turning over the engine just fine for a long time; but got low since lights were draining it so it was too low to test a start after he finished. I bought a new one on his advice...$250 wasted. My original battery charged up just fine and is healthy.    It was running perfectly fine when I messed up the old alarm (programmed out the remotes). He couldnt start it after removing the old alarm; my assumption is that when he unhooked it; he didnt bridge the circuit back when trying to start it. Its always been perfectly fine. The ECU swap and pump were 2 years ago. It's never missed a beat in that time.
    • This is a big issue for me without the diff. I just have zero drive from the passenger side when drivers side has no traction. Bec's parents place has a crazy steep driveway with odd camber and I have never been able to get up. My bro-in-law's 130i with an (unknown brand) LSD gets up fine as does their dad's Hiace. My car stays at the bottom. We have other odd camber roads around here as we're elevated a bit and if it's raining I can get totally stuck around some hairpins.
    • Yeah, I am super excited for this.
    • Was the car running before he touched the car?
