Thanks mate!

Im even thinking blue nuts as the valve stems on my work rims are blue... unsure yet! Are the rear pods just the standard Vspec ones?? Im looking for a set and they look great on yours....

Also R32_GODZILLA where do you get the border ducts from mate??

Great stance Kevin. Bet it looks angry in the rear view mirror!

Yeah it seems as though one should buy all the mods they want up front (or as soon as possible) so you can enjoy them for as long as possible... doing it up over time is more realistic but it seems as though as fate would have it you end up having to sell just shortly after doing one big mod or another.

Yeah that's the thing. Most people even spend so much money modifying their car but never get it right. I have spent a lot of money and time on modifying my car and now it's time to let it all go. I wish I can keep but but with a company car, a young family with kids - I hardly get the time to drive it anymore and keep it in the garage and maintaining it is just too costly.

Thanks mate!

Hi buddy, yeah definitely get genuine Work blue nuts to watch your rims always a good choice but don't forget the valve stems or it won't look good. I bought a set of genuine Rays valve stems and nuts and gotta say they look much better than other types.

The rear pods are actually Top-Secret style ones. I don't like the standard VSPEC ones so went for Top-Secret items.

Re: Border ducts - you mean the same ones on my front bar's lip? It's a standard series 3 lip that comes with the ducts. Series 3 GTR front bars (like mine and R32_Godzillas) are the best looking for a R33 GTR in my opinion.

ewwwwww. angled exhaust :( just doesnt look good on a 33 imo

That's what I thought too...and yes, up close it doesn't look that flash but from a distance...it actually suits the car heaps...also my exhaust is no toothpick, it's a 3 inch Kakimoto turbo-back exhaust so it looks definitely. Not for everyone of course.

I got a few PM's from guys wanting to know what bodykit I have on my GTR. Ok so here is the combo:

- Front Bar: genuine series 3 GTR front bar with Nismo N1 front nostrils/ducts and original series 3 lip and ducts

- Sideskirts: Do-Luck style replicas as it brings out the R33 stance more I'm my opinion

- Rear Bar: stock GTR bar with Top-Secret style rear pods

- Wing: Stock GTR wing with genuine GTR end-cap insert plates

Hope that heaps

Kev

Thanks for the kind words guys.

I bought my 'copy' ducts from eBay - Originals are very expensive to me. They're a bit of a pain to install - They're not a 100% fit. You will need to cut small sections of the bar and rivet to keep in place. Here's a link http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nissan-Skyline-R33-GTR-Border-Style-Front-Bumper-Air-Duct-Intake-Cooler-Guide-/270948325192?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3f15c75748&vxp=mtr

Otherwise just type in R33 GT-R duct into eBay and a few come up - They all range around the same make/price.

Hmm my genuine border ducts were a perfect fit around the shape of the bumper, could of used double sided tape to hold them on if i realy wanted to, but used screws just in case.

u get exactly what u pay for. border ducts were only about $480 delivered to my door

Spot on Chris - You get what you pay for and I took the risk for a mate to test fit on my car. At the time I couldn't justify spending that amount.

For half the price you can make do with the copies and achieve the exact same look, but you'll need patience with the DIY involved. You may also need a hand fitting them. If not, by what Chris is saying, the originals may be a better option for some.

ML73ZR, I just took a quick couple of snaps as I only just fitted the lip. I'll try get some more soon, weather permitting.

Cheers.

all gtr front bars are the same. n1 vents were an option. series 3s had the larger lower lip

the "ducts" on r32-godzilla's car are aftermarket additions made by Border (although his are copies)

Cheers guys!

If anyone hears or sees a genuine r33 Gtr bumper for sale plz let me kno.

As I'm keen to add some n1 vents and the ducts but dont want to cut up my standard item.

Won't need the lip

you have to cut the bumper to fit the ducts, the ducts are larger than the standard indicator holes.

when i said perfect fit for mine i mean that the shape of the ducts perfectly matched the shape of the genuine bumper as in no gaps around the edges.

Correct. I thought you were talking about how flush they sit - Mine lined up perfectly with the shape of the edges as well. Only problem was the duct wasn't prefectly moulded to the curvature of the bar - I has to press against the duct before riveting to make sure it hugged without any protrusions.

    • Will have a look at that. I cant see any leaks
    • Put another overflow bottle (ie, a 1.25 coke bottle or similar) under the overflow hose and see if it is being pushed out there or if it is disappearing into the engine.
    • Staring on a stand is no issue. You just have to wire everything up, give it fuel and cross your fingers that the stand is robust enough. Arranging the inlet plumbing is often the hardest part, without any surrounding structure to hand some of it from. No need for coolant if you only want to run it for <1 minute. As to the gearbox - I think the little Aisin box is a bit stronger than the other small Nissan boxes that went behind SRs, but I wouldn't be too keen to test its limits with the torque of a boosted 25. I don't know if you can retain the box and the tailshaft. The box won't connect to the RB without an adapter of some sort, which is either a plate that will push the engine forward (which is not good for fitting it into the bay's available space) or push the box back, which messes with the box position and tailshaft length - OR - cut and shut work on the bellhousing, which is a long way from "least modification". I'd be buying a new 370Z 6 speed or similar, doing what has to be done to that to make it fit RB (ie, cut and shut bellhousing) and the requisite tailshaft custom/mods.
    • Hi Everyone I am from West Pennant Hills in NSW. Been too busy until recently to attend to my RB25DET Series 2 engine until recently. I am planning to stick it into the S15 shell at this stage, unless a nice SR20DET turns up... For now, i am going to try and get the RB25 running and working well then decide what gearbox to use. My preference is to retain the SR20DET  6 speed gearbox and tail shaft to retain as much and least modifications as i can avoid. I am an old guy and won't be doing any heavy drifting so i don't need a bullet proof gearbox Does anyone have experience with starting the RB on a stand? I got everything setup as much as I can with the info i can find... endless searching and videos on Youtube I would be great to get some pointers Cheers Songo
    • Hey all, Recently have had my s1 r33 gtr serviced and noticed my coolant reservoir was topped up to the max line. Took the car out for 1 yesterday and noticed today the reservoir is completely empty.  Any ideas? Radiator is full
