rbc arent cheap from my exp

ummm first of all, why would you want CHEAP bearings, i personally wouldnt trust them..

What area are you from?

RBC has a few branches.

You could also try bearing wholesalers. I know the guys in the moorabbin store :stupid: cheap cheap for me

i live close the cambellfield... i might check it out first.. does the moorabin store able to ship the parts and how much did you get yours for? I'm looking for NSK parts so i think all NSK bearings perform the same and just difference places sells them at different prices.

you want low quality bearings

be prepared to have a head smash 24 valves.

Cost should not be an issue for idler/tensioners

true that but the prices vary so much from 100ish for NSK ones to 200ish for genuine ones. if they are of identical quality it would be nice to save some $$. a few people here are using NSK ones with no probs, i guess because they havent clocked the k's on em yet to find out. ah what a head scratch!!

they aren't gonna cost 200

RBC charge about $120 for the pair as complete units ready to bolt in. They are standard NSK which are the Nissan OEM bearing so just call with the stock part number. There is a decent number of threads on here that will have the number listed so search. I've known of others who have pressed the bearing out and just replaced the bearing to have it fail about 5000km later.

Make sure you get new grade 8 or 12 bolts. Young guy that lives nearby had mild bolts installed by the mechanic and one failed through fatigue in a couple of hundres kays. Pistons survived but new valves all around.

Chris, this is the whole pulley for reason stated above.

I found RBC helpful and a good fair price.

thanks Geoff...hope ur feeling better mate. I still have a front grille for you!

Yeah good point...I took off some pullies the otherday and thought they were on the way out...$120 for NSK is not bad for the whole unit. I thought they were just talking about bearings.

on that note I broke off one of the tensioner screws yesterday...must have failed for something just sheered right off..lol bought some new bolts but need to get the old thread out.

I'm also trying to work out an easy way to take off the damn PS belt...looks like the lock bolt is the one just above the tension bit...bitch to get at...give it another go next weekend.

Might as well do the bearings also while everything is out...so what are the stock part nos...?

yellow pages is your friend, we get stuff delivered from bearing wholesalers, but we have an account with them at work etc. they could possibly courrier then out, i do not know ... best to look it up in the white pages there may be a store close to you

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
