Best / Safest Place To Park At Manning Bar At Sydney University?

Recommended Posts

Not that my car is anything special compared to what else is out there, but I'm going to a gig at the Manning Bar at Sydney uni coming up soonish, and I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions for the best/safest place to park the car, which will be unattended from mid evening til the wee hours.

The Manning Bar site says there is parking on "Parramatta Rd, City Rd and Carillion Ave" but these are all major roads and I'm not sure if that's the best place to park. I haven't been to Sydney uni before and don't know how big it is going from the map, but I was thinking car parks closer to the venue and under lights... Failing that, where is the most frequented road I could park on near the Manning bar where lots of people would see any late night shenanigans?

I look on these pages and the parking "stations" look like their a fair way from where the gig is:

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. PS. Yeah, I'm paranoid.

Cans?

I'm coming from interstate. I'm bringing 4 mates, I can't use the public transport...

Surely there's some students with fancy cars that are in the know?

My friend used to live near there at one of the uni apartments and he had his own space in underground parking. If you know anyone that has that, park there and kick their crappy car out for the night.

Thanks jantolis, but I don't know anyone there. Are the general public parking areas really bad there? Or should I not worry at all? Will a car cover (which I have) help, or just bring more attention? If the area isn't a black spot then I won't worry, I guess I'm just after that kind of info, and if it is, then the "least worst" place to park, as I don't have much choice. It's alarmed and all.. but don't want to tempt fate by parking in an area known to be bad (if indeed it is...?)

hey dude.

park your car someplace and catch a cab to the location

i wouldnt be parking my car on the road in that area. its not particularly bad area but still

get public transport and get on the cans - simple :D

:)

Thats even better!

Drink while you wait for a lift to the airport, drink upto takeoff, land, and have a drink after you get your bags from baggage collection, then get a cab from the airport to the bar

Enjoy your trip :)

Jimbo2000: I like the idea of finding a secure park away from the area, long as I can find it. I guess it'll still be a public park but maybe at least have a boom gate and stuff. The others might b*tch if it's too far a walk after the gig but stuff em hahahah. I'll be driving up during the day so we can bum around so I'll use that time to figure out the best place.

EVL15H: This is good to hear from someone... I just wondered how come others were instantly saying take public transport! Another friend today told me it's an OK suburb (Newtown?), but he only owns a boring car. Which gig? Well, saying that would let anyone who read this know when a skyline would be in the area!

;) Let's just say it sure aint Britney Spears :D \m/

RE Flying: I'm driving up to avoid my gf's penchant for 5 star hotels whenever we go anywhere, which makes what could be even the cheapest trip unnecessarily expensive :D

And... I'd be scared to even sneeze while boarding a plane these days... they'd think there was a bomb hooked up to your olfactory system and crash tackle you to the ground while your trying to clean up your boogers lol

dude just park it wherever. I mean don't go seeking out a nice quiet dark alley or anything, but just park somewhere on the uni grounds if you can. or at one of the parking stations in the city. dont worry too much if it all does go wrong that's what insurance is for. :D

Nice one Dazz! Thanks, sounds like the go for sure. Now I just need to check it's open from a sunday arvo til like 2-3am the next morning. Anyone know off the top of their head?

broadway shopping centre c/park prolly wont be open till that late man...if u follow the entrance into the uni from parramatta road (at the lights) and go up the driveway and turn left, there are some car paying places on the right, but not heaps..otherwise u cud park in uts carpark further up parramatta road..uts is that big brown building jus after braodway shopping centre heading towards the city on the left...

    • Order for the 2025 model R35 GT-R were accepted from 3rd March and 26th August the last order rolled off the production line at the Tochigi plant. Concerning the R35 GT-R replacement, current Nissan CEO Ivan Espinosa said "Nothing has been decided about the GT-R at this time, but we are well aware that everyone is waiting. The GT-R will evolve and reappear in the future. Please be patient until that day comes." Nissan has a lot of issues with management and finances so take Espinosa's words with a big grain of salt. From what discussions I've had and read about here in Japan, not a lot of people are confident about Nissan's future, let alone the next GT-R.
    • Thanks. We getting some parts along too so he will be solving the speed issue like next week so i will let you know what he came up with.
    • 21 is explicitly the coils detected as the issue. Is it guaranteed the actual issue? No. Just the ECU thinks it is. When you say rattling, describe it better, get an audio clip as best you can if possible.
    • Yea got me coppers. Bad news is I just put them in and the car still has the light and shakes. I also noticed I hear like rattling coming from the exhaust piping right under me. Does 21 also have a possibility of being O2 sensors?   So, coil packs are good, the harness is good, the MAF is working, and obviously the spark plugs just replaced and working.
    • Make sure you drop the GTT base tune back in, and set your injectors again, this will remove anything playing up with it you may have removed. Possibly lean there as it's normally a fast transient going THROUGH atmospheric pressure, and a turbo motor would then quickly go richer as boost builds. The only worry you MIGHT have is ignition timing, as the DE is higher compression than the DET from memory. But again, you're not in boost, so the DE motor will be a lot more forgiving at atmospheric.   Get Murray, Kinkstahs, and Johnny's input on tuning haltechs, those guys have played with tuning enough in the past to be able to help now you're past the trouble shooting stage of the MAP issue
