os giken solid centre twin. does not drive anything like a standard clutch. rattles, and is very on/off in it's operation. but it doesn't slip like a stock clutch either so overall i like it.

Im unsure which way to go, I need the car to be streetable considering the car will be demo car for the business .

I have some serious plans for the motor, The clutch needs replacing now and I only want to do it once.

Yeah, the Nismo Super Coppermix is a VERY popular choice and I've never heard a bad word about them.

I'm using an O.S Giken STR2CD and it's very streetable, light under foot and pretty quiet. Gets a bit grabby when it gets warm though ( a bit touchy in traffic ) but 95% of the time it's great !

Got an OS Giken Twin. Not bad, but it can stall on you sometimes if you don't give it enough revs. Even after 6 months of having it, I'll stall it at least once a week still. I reckon its the super lightweight flywheel that causes it rather than it being too 'bitey'. Then again I have an SR20 so its probably a different case on the RB2x

I have a OS Giken twin plate clutch in my 33GTR and it takes some getting used with stalling done on a weekly basis and it can be quite noisy, but there is no slip and it takes the high rpm changes no probs.

So you need to decide as to the type of power you will be putting down and how you want that translated to the road. I put up with the on and off grab of the clutch as I use mine almost every day, I know it's going to hold together changing under load.

Im still not sure, I drive my car hard . the clutch that i fried wasnt all that old and was a heavy duty not sure on the specs.

What about a single, whats the best choice ?

id go a os-giken twin plate. they cop a hiding. my old ts2bd (480ps rating) put up with my 430hpatw gtr till i simply just upgraded for the hell of it to a nismo tripple.

the os was like a stock clutch compared to this nismo one omg its a prick to drive. although i spose any 1000ps rated solid centre tripple would be ;)

the one id recomend is the TS2CD model. not sure on the price but it would be a good choise for both power handeling and drivability.

I have a twin plate and hate it. The pedal is heavier than standard but Im used to it. The driveability is worse than standard but I have adjusted to it. It has NEVER even thought about slipping with 280rwkw.

But the friggin rattling, that is why I am getting rid of it. People know Im home, not from the sound of the exhaust note but from the friggin rattling. The car is mainly a streeter so at traffic lights everyone stares thinking somethings wrong with my car. Then theres the "your gearbox is f@cked"your bottom end is rooted" you reply with "actually its just my clutch and its normal" and get blank stares. I'm over it.

My mate has a silent exedy twinplate which is ideal but I cant afford it as I need a new gearbox so I will be getting a Jim Berry item which from all research so far seems to be a good option for a single at my power level.

^^ Haha yeah I know what you mean. But I just pop it into neutral with the clutch in when at the lights etc. Another method is to load (slip) the clutch plates ever so slightly slightly and the noise goes away when you're idling/waiting to move off as well. The noise isnt as bad as a clunking KAAZ LSD though lol.

    • I don't understand how this hasn't boiled down to - Upgrade the turbo when you have everything required. ECU, injectors, fuel pump, turbo, etc. Do it all at once.  If you don't have everything required, just enjoy the car as it is and keep saving up your pennies. 
    • Sounds like you've got an interesting adventure ahead here with local support if you have trouble! My guess is that, unboosted, you will be OK with a small upgrade like -9. What will happen is that once the stock ECU sees more airflow than it expects it will add a heap of fuel and pull a heap of timing to be safe because it can't understand how it could get that much air without there being an issue. You will see clouds of black smoke and it won't pull hard through the midrange and top end. So, overall it will be a bit frustrating but should be OK. If you are still nervous set the base timing back 2o through the CAS, but it will be even more sluggish everywhere. As said above through...this is not my guarantee your engine won't be blown into a million pieces, leaving you looking for very hard to find parts A better idea is get a computer with logging ASAP, wire in a wide band O2 sensor and a use remote tuner. I've done multiple cars this way and while it is not as good as a specific tune on a dyno they can get it 90% right. I'd suggest if you can afford an R33 GTR these days you can afford an ECU and tune. And if you can't afford that you sure won't be able to afford the rebuild if it goes bad in the meantime,.  
    • Yeah it would be nice if someone took the time to put that sort of information together, but there are a lot of variations in looms. I think you are making this way hard for yourself if you just want to get it running....sourcing an SR20 with the right wiring will be a billion times easier than matching the RB loom to an S15 chassis. If you do end up going this way, you just need to trace every wire in the loom with a multimeter, 95% of them will go to a location you can confirm at the ECU.....and then post it up for the next person who needs it  
    • Just top it up with water, and keep a general idea of how much you added. It is normal for water to be pushed into and pulled out of the reservoir through the cap, and it should not be more than half full or it will be likely to overflow when hot. Any decent mechanic can do a pressure test of the cooling system to confirm if you have a leak. Keep in mind if it is only leaking a little and when hot it may well evaporate before you see it hit the ground
    • I'd ask the shop what they used and use that. Mixing coolants is sometimes OK, sometimes not, and you have know the details of each coolant to know whether it's a good idea or not.
