Okay, i'm bored, so i thought i'd post up some pics of my car that i took yesterday afternoon....

I detailed it on the weekend.... started at 7am on Saturday morning, stopped working on it at 6pm Saturday night, and worked on it again from 7am Sunday morning until Midday....

Needless to say, its rather funny watching me try to walk today 'coz my back and legs are killing me! (had to work in a very confined space, so had to be a bit of a contortionist)

the end result can be seen in the pics :P

hope you enjoy!

lol! i feel ur pain. Detailed mine on saturday for close to 6hrs with 2hrs tryin to scrub up the white rims at QuickFit.

All this for a promo shoot yesterday out at the train yards to then gather dust as we drove over some rocky and dirty roads.

Was only lucky to take the shammi and cloth with me.

Goddamn Azzurra thats looks sweet. Im sure that thing would put a horn on a jelly fish.

Out of curiosity what did you use to clean your car? wax brand, mag cleaner etc

cheers in advance!

The thing is, every car is different... what works on one car, may not work on another car. Also depends on the condition of your paint, the colour, if its been resprayed previously, etc... there are alot of variables... its just trial and error to see what works. Also depends on what you're looking for in a finish.. whether you want outright shine, or a deep/wet look etc...

I.e. after i had finished, we tried a different polish, from Menzerna on one of the panels, and it was better again than what i had already used... also costs a bit over twice as much :)

With white, you really have to make up your mind where you draw the line, as the more you spend, you get ever-diminishing returns, as white is probably the hardest colour to get looking really good.

Hi, im interested to know what product you used.. also did you use a random orbital buffing machine, or was it the painful way of using your hands?

I used a Bosch PEX 400 AE Random Orbital... would be pretty much impossible to get the same sort of finish doing it by hand... the pics don't really do it justice... you literally have to wear sunglasses when looking at it in the sun... lol...

I will reply to the rest of the posts later on tonight when i get to work!

So when are you going to get some wheels for that gorgeous beasty????

The standard wheels while nice are not good enough for that car!!

And as soon as you get enough "experience", I want you to do my car. (After it is painted of course...)

that looks sweet, the close up pics really show it off. ive spent the majority of a day doing mine before but it just makes me wanna get it re-painted because u see all the little things you dont normally notice

tell me about it.. white can be hard to get looking good, but when you do get there, it looks fantastic.

when i had my front bar fitted i had my whole car professionally buffed and polished and whatever else they do :ninja:

came out looking like it had just been resprayed tho, very happy with the job!

WOW!! How can i make my girl look that pretty?!?!?!

Firstly, what you need to do is decide what sort of finish you are looking for, then assess the condition of your paint... read around on a few different discussion forums like www.autopia.org or www.detailparadise.com.au, to see how others rate products etc. Then you really need to speak to a detailer, or someone who knows their products well, to find out what they think you should use (again, depends what your paint is like, the desired outcome, whether you are using a random orbital or doing it by hand, etc)

Nice work!

I bet you're spewing its raining today

nope - she's at home in the garage, as snug as a bug in a rug :) I have another car that i can take to work :D

hey azzura what happened to that oznissan site?

Hey mate, the server got hit by hackers (multiple forums went down) and the guy maintaining it wasn't around for about a week, and the forum was going downhill anyway, all it was used for was spam, so i decided to can it.

what made you want to take the photos out at brendale?

Was richard doing something for you or was it just the place you chose to take the photos?

Brendale is close-by for me, and i wanted an industrial backdrop for the photos.... was driving past, and the block of buildings that ARE is in caught my eye... then noticed it was ARE's workshop so i decided it was semi-fitting to take the pics of a modified car outside their workshop :D

As always Jason comes up amazing.

But... how did you go with water?

I just used 2 buckets... 1 with the carwash in it, and another to rinse the car down with (this one was constantly being refilled)

i have a Karcher pressure washer that i can use... i have modified it so that it can be gravity-fed from a bucket, but it takes a lot of effort to set up, and i really couldn't be bothered the other day :P

Really nice finish mate, I never seem to get the same effect when i detail mine but then again i dont have a buffing machine

the buffing machine makes a lot of difference :)

also, the quality of product you are using, as well as the condition of your paint are big influences as well.

Wheels are coming soon... am waiting until my current ones wear out, then i will be upgrading to some 17's :)

Usually have to leave a car for a couple of months after its been painted before detailing it, due to having to let the paint cure properly first, but let me know, and i may be able to help you out :)

yeah, with every good thing, there's always a downside...

It has bought out alot of the imperfections in my paint too... i've found bog marks that i never knew were there, shows up the little dents/bubbles in the paint/fisheyes/scratches etc....

tell me about it.. white can be hard to get looking good, but when you do get there, it looks fantastic.

excellent! you have any pics?

Ummmm sexy stuff there Jas...

I reckon you need practice on a yellow car...

Then maby a newly painted Silver car (same model of course)...

Then maby we can all go for steak again...

sounds like a plan, lol!

    • Cheers. Skyline is back on the menu, can’t get rid of it. It’s like a child you don’t want, or herpes
    • I got back to Japan in January and was keen to get back on track as quickly as possible. Europe is god-awful for track accessibility (by comparison), so I picked up a first-gen GT86 in December just to have something I could jump into right away. The Skyline came over in a container this time and landed in early January. It was a bit battered after Europe, though—I refused to do anything beyond essential upkeep while it was over there. The clutch master cylinder gave out, and so did the power steering. I didn’t even bother changing the oil; it was the same stuff that went in just before I left Japan the first time. Naughty. Power steering parts would’ve cost double with shipping and taxes, so knowing I’d be heading back to Japan, I just postponed it and powered through the arm workout. It took a solid three months to get the car back on the road. Registration was a nightmare this time around. There were a bunch of BS fees to navigate, and sourcing parts was a headache. I needed stock seats for shaken, mistakenly blew 34k JPY on some ENR34 seats—which, of course, didn’t fit—then ended up having the car’s technical sheet amended to register it as a two-seater with the Brides. Then there’s the GT86. Amazing car. Does everything I want it to do. Parts are cheap, easy to find, and I don’t care what anyone says—it’s super rewarding to drive. I’ve done a few basic mods: diff ratio, coilovers, discs, pads, seat, etc. It already had a new exhaust manifold and the 180kph limiter removed, so I assume it’s running some kind of map. I’ve just been thrashing it at the track non-stop—mostly Fuji Speedway now, since I need something with higher speed after all that autobahn time. The wheels on the R34 always pissed me off—too big, and it was a nightmare getting tires to fit properly under the arches. So I threw in the towel and bought something that fits better. Looks way cleaner too (at least to me)—less hotboy, less attention-seeking. Still an R34, though. Now for future plans. There are a few things still outstanding with the car. First up, the rear subframe needs an overhaul—that’s priority one. Next, I need to figure out an engine rebuild plan. No timeline yet, but I want to keep it economical—not cutting corners, just not throwing tens of thousands at a mechanic I can barely communicate with. And finally, paint. Plus a bit of tidying up here and there.
    • Nope, needed to clearance under the bar a little with a heat gun, a 1/2" extension as the "clearancer", and big hammer, I was aware of this from the onset, they fit a 2.0 with this intake no problems, but, the 2.5 is around 15mm taller than a 2.0, so "clearancing" was required  It "just" touched when test fitting, now, I have about 10mm of clearance  You cannot see where it was done, and so far, there's no contact when giving it the beans Happy days
    • It's been a while since I've updated this thread. The last year (and some) has been very hectic. In the second-half of 2024 I took the R34 on a trip through Germany, Italy, France and Switzerland - it was f*cking great. I got a little annoyed with the attention the car was getting around Europe and really didn't drive it that much. I could barely work on the car since I was living in an inner-city apartment (with underground parking). During the trip, the car lost power steering in France - split hose - and I ended up driving around 4,000kms with no power steering.  There were a few Nurburgring trips here and there, but in total the R34 amassed just shy of 7,000kms on European roads. Long story short, I broke up with the reason I was transferred to Europe for and requested to be moved back to Japan. The E90, loved it. It was a sunk cost of around EUR 10,000 and I sold it to a friend for EUR 1,500 just to get rid of it quickly. Trust me, moving countries f*cking sucks and I could not be bothered to be as methodical as I was the first time around.
