Hey guys just looking for opinions on whether i should respray my rims to maybe a matt black. I was looking at buying new wheels but the budget just doesnt allow so im looking at the cheaper option now :D The wheels in question are some sort of ancient Work ones but i have never seen another like it and cant find any info on the net so if anyone can tell me what exact model they are it would be appreciated.

So, what do you guys think? respray black? or leave as is?

edit: the wheels are actually some sort of pearl white but their too dirty in the pic so it looks sorta silver-ish

Cheers >_<

i got black (brake dust) dark gray r32 rims you can fit to your car to have a look at what you think of the colour change as my car is still not 100% after engine conversion so is up on axl stands but i dont think black with white cars look good any more seems to give my car that ricer look but i would rather black over white rims on my car or chromes

but i wouldt mind getting some bronze colour rims next

hehe got a pic of some sort of ur wheels?

hmm yeah i wouldnt mind satin charcoal metallic gunmetal gray black or watever its called nowadays :P

Is it better to paint rims or get them powder coated? powder coating is better for grills etc as it stands up to stone chips etc better, don't know about brake dust though? anyone had experience?

Sorry man, a little bit off topic but could help your decision.. nice pic too

I'm really Diggin that pick man. Love it.

How about a silver base coat with a metalic orange pearl?

 which would make what colour? an orange wheel with a silver tinge to it? :/

yeah after all the positive replies from you guys im really leaning towards painting em, just cant quite picture if a satin black or a gunmetal grey would look better. Guess ill just flip a coin

Powder coating rims is the best option. I've had mine done over a year now and they are still perfect, apart from one........................... They don't like to be scrapped on brick pillars :P

Powder coat colour on my rims: Precious Steel Perl (satin)

I had these done for $120 for all 4, no prep work was required as rims where in good condition.

I just got my track rims done in the same colour, but gloss. They do look a little shinnier, but the finish isn't as "smooth", hard to explain, smooth isn't really the right word. The gloss is only a clear powder coat over the satin, as there is an additional layer, up close the coat looks a little ripply, almost like "orange peel" in paint finishes but not as fine :( . The track rims where $150 for all 4.

Yawn: Car look very nice, but lower that ass end, your not driving a Kingswood :/

Just noticed your from Melb. Your more than welcome to come down an fit my track rims onto one side of your car, just to see if you like the colour. Let me know via PM, if you are interested.

I'm on the same road atm for my R32 - I want to get my wheels painted/powdercoated, so that they're close to/darker than my gunmetal grey paint (recommended color code/name?) . Need a fresh coat on the stockers as they're all stained and look dull, my centre caps are showing bits of yellow!

Alse, can anyone recommend me to a place where they powdercoat rims in the Western Suburbs?

Cheers,

Steve.

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
