yes, find somone with the same car with zero missfire problems. then raid their set-up for their coil pack loom. it's only a short piece, easy to swap. make sure you just change 1 thing at a time, so start with your orig set-up. then try loom. then try coil packs, then ignitor etc. also i'd suggest if you are running more boost than stock or plan to go for BCPR7ES (they come gapped at 0.8mm) as they are one heat range cooler.

can anyone tell me if letting the ignitor just hang without being attached anywhere is ok?

Its a pain putting and removing the the center valve cover.

Ive heard of a couple of guys here whove killed a ignitor from letting it just hang there....

my problem is that my r33 miss fires from around 4800? thru to 7000rpm im guessing as the vct kicks in it starts miss firing mods are

stage3 slidingperformance hiflow

intercooler

3" from turbo no cat

walbro fuel pump

now ive only had the hiflow for about 3 days now,and since bolting it on it miss fires on all boost settings including stock 7psi, before with stock turbo it would only do it anything above 7psi so i could run stock 7psi wen it would carry on and could rev it cleanly... i was using .8 gap on my plugs so yesterday i explored and regapped the plugs to .6 they are a ngk plug heat range 7...now this has fixed all my miss fire problems runs like a dream on 7 thru to 13psi

now if since i regapped to .6 it fixed my miss wat was the weak link before that? coils? stock ecu? ive ordered splitfires thru sliding they sould be here within the week,im not fussed if they were my problem but i wanted to get them anyway b4 powerfc so ive got it all sorted b4 it goes for a tune..so have any of u guys got a clue as to why .6 gap runs perfect and .8 gap onwards it misses terribly.

.6 means less of a gap to jump for the spark, like when the coils are worn etc, on healthy coils you can put the gap back up!

I would have tested the coil packs first...

well would stock coils handle 250rwkw i wasn't sure if they would so thats why i wanted to upgrade the coils its only $600

mine were fine at 260rwkw. but having said that I've now changed for piece of mind.

stock coils fine a 250rwkw-will be fine for alot more power to as long as they are in good nick- I changed mine at 300rwkw

whilst at the Veilside workshop earlier this year I was poking around their 7 second, over 1000hp R32 GTR... guess what. standard coils. not sure if they run them all the time, but it was definately using them whilst I was there.

like mr660hp said. the coils are great providing they are in tip top shape which after 10 or so years in a hot engine they generally are not in good shape.

thats probably the main reason i changed mine as mine are in 1993 r33 and are gettin old and would only cause the miss fire after they heat up!

Mine were fine, over 350rwkw, big boost, good fuel etc.

Surpriing Veil used stockers, but i bet there was a HKS box or similar giving that little "extra" oomph

id be cheking the igniter? ps.. throw an earth kit on it for sfe mesure.
