What Cars Do Japanese Police Have In Their Arsenal?

Recommended Posts

I was just reading an article in the newspaper today about how my local sheriff's office are now using modified Dodge Chargers for "reckless or agressive" driving.

So that got me thinking...

What are Tokyo, Osaka, or Nagoya police using these days for the same purpose? I recall seeing pictures of R34 GTRs, GTOs, and FD3S RX7s painted up in police colors awhile back. Anyone know?

there's a thread about japanese police cars that we all posted pics in a while ago... might come up if you search (make sure you search for all threads instead of just 30 days coz it was a while ago).

There's also a couple of pics on the interweb of a JGTC looking R34 in police decals... it also has a fake machine gun mounted on it... if you come across it, its not real, was a promo car for a japanese police car driving game.

The meanest Police car I ever saw 'in the metal' was a Crown Athlete in the Panda color scheme with the bug deflector and roof mounted strobes.... boring.

The gayest police car I saw in the metal was a Toyota Vitz (Yarus) with the panda colors and the roof mounted lights. With two fully uniformed and gun toting cops in it it was a something to behold >_<

wierdest one ever...

>_<

yet strangely I want to paint my haw-chee-raw-kew to look the same.

Can anyone read that kanji on the side? Does that say "fujiwara tofu"??

Funky- I'll be sure and check the older posts--do you remember the title?

The cop cars around where I live are mostly really scary Toyota Crowns or keis, although apparently there is a turbo Aristo that does the highways and I've been pulled over by a turb B4 Legacy.

Yea Takumi has quit the tofu business and now drives for the Miyagi prefecture police team.

Regular crime fighter he is these days... maybe its a crossover or something... next thing you know they'll have drifting mechadroids

that is gold!

I like the BNR32 cop car. all class.

justin, can you tell me again what the little shields are for on the bonnet? are they bug deflectors or something? I've had it explained before but cant remember.

Hahaha look what I found:

Wait...Ayu Hamasaki is not an adolescent boy!!!

PS- Did you know that when you buy one of those Le Seydes, it comes with a free bag of candy and a pair of oversized aviator sunglasses? True story.

I want a La Seyde based on an S15 chassis. extended wheelbase FTW. altho I'd be so tempted to stand on the side sill ghostrider style with a tommy gun on one arm and a cigar hanging out the side of my mouth.

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
