Hi Guys,

As many of you know we are planning an SAU entry into this years PAS Wester Salon (if you don't, read the Events section).

We have decided to go for a race theme and although we have a number of ideas we would like your input into what things you would like to see us do.

We all have our likes and dislike so please tell us what yours are so we can try and make it an impressive display.

So please help us by letting us know what ideas you have, along the lines of a race theme.

See'ya:burnout:

Paul

How about a TV/monitor next to each of the display cars showing someone like gtrken (or other talented driver) giving that particular car a little work out at a trackday or mc day or summit?

I would like to see what a car can do, not often you can tell what a car can go like by how it sits in a paddock.

- a rear projector will sort out lighting issues

- get a large banner made up obviously

- put on your shirts and make sure the entered cars have the sau stickers

- get one guy whose skyline is more music orientated and crank the tunes

- have a track day or something befor ethe auto salon and enter the cars, and like jon said gets vids from them, and pics (otherwise you might have ricer theme with pauls car :D)

just an idea similar to shuto-boy's.

-have it set up like a pit lane etc with fuel drums (empty) and pump and stuff like that if you can get it.

-would look cool if you could get an rb engine on its own and have ken or someone work on it all the time like a mechanical display thingo.

bit far out there but there you go....

i am with epoch and aidwin, i was thinkin of like pits, or a garage with parts and tools around the place and we should make it look like nick's car is up on a hoist and shit , and if we feel really cool have sau overalls so we look like mechanics hehehehe

adrian :)

I have seen a display at one car show that use the corner of a race track (made to look like one) with the cars mount with two wheels on the ripple strip, looked great and would be easy to do, maybe could have a pits setup as well. I will keep thinking.

:)

Have lots of tyres stacked up everywhere you can make it really interesting by having a smoke machine or lights inside a stack of tyres so you get smoke coming out the top

Also seeing as this is pretty far away maybe by then you could have that SAU jacket idea done up so everyone has a cool racing jacket on! thatd really show every1 how its done!:)

Jon,

Thanks for that, we were planing either a TV or projector with footage from gtrken, MC Motorsport day, cruises etc. We're not sure if the lighting will allow for a projector on not.

Heyas

i really don't think a projector is a good idea, due to light issues... if not your own then everyone elses that has lights all over their display it really will be lit up a lot.... at cabin there was one projector display for lextc but he had it in a fully sheltered cloth tent so people could see the projector.

maybe if you had a few black sheets to surround the projector and the screen to block out light....?

monitors or always nice and easy.... James Mandy owner of PULSSSAR has always used a nice monitor with a power point presentation... goes down VERY well with the judges it outlays what he has done inthe builds and how he has done it...

i think most importantly is the SAU banner and the people in their SAU t-shirts and stickers and jackets etc...fancy displays may not be remembered but SAU must be permanently imprinted in the minds of all showgoers :)

also Adrian giving out Nandos chicken with Aidwin dressed as Party Boy Japan

    • Hi Guys, Does anyone know any aftermarket part numbers for a starter motor to suit the VQ25DET? I can find lots of alternative part number for the VQ35DE, which I assume would fit, but there is a lot of conflicting information out there. Thanks..
    • I don't understand how this hasn't boiled down to - Upgrade the turbo when you have everything required. ECU, injectors, fuel pump, turbo, etc. Do it all at once.  If you don't have everything required, just enjoy the car as it is and keep saving up your pennies.
    • Sounds like you've got an interesting adventure ahead here with local support if you have trouble! My guess is that, unboosted, you will be OK with a small upgrade like -9. What will happen is that once the stock ECU sees more airflow than it expects it will add a heap of fuel and pull a heap of timing to be safe because it can't understand how it could get that much air without there being an issue. You will see clouds of black smoke and it won't pull hard through the midrange and top end. So, overall it will be a bit frustrating but should be OK. If you are still nervous set the base timing back 2o through the CAS, but it will be even more sluggish everywhere. As said above through...this is not my guarantee your engine won't be blown into a million pieces, leaving you looking for very hard to find parts A better idea is get a computer with logging ASAP, wire in a wide band O2 sensor and a use remote tuner. I've done multiple cars this way and while it is not as good as a specific tune on a dyno they can get it 90% right. I'd suggest if you can afford an R33 GTR these days you can afford an ECU and tune. And if you can't afford that you sure won't be able to afford the rebuild if it goes bad in the meantime,.
    • Yeah it would be nice if someone took the time to put that sort of information together, but there are a lot of variations in looms. I think you are making this way hard for yourself if you just want to get it running....sourcing an SR20 with the right wiring will be a billion times easier than matching the RB loom to an S15 chassis. If you do end up going this way, you just need to trace every wire in the loom with a multimeter, 95% of them will go to a location you can confirm at the ECU.....and then post it up for the next person who needs it
    • Just top it up with water, and keep a general idea of how much you added. It is normal for water to be pushed into and pulled out of the reservoir through the cap, and it should not be more than half full or it will be likely to overflow when hot. Any decent mechanic can do a pressure test of the cooling system to confirm if you have a leak. Keep in mind if it is only leaking a little and when hot it may well evaporate before you see it hit the ground
