Jesus ! Isnt that abit big? o.O

Not at all. Would be a good mid range turbo on a 20B (EDIT: Especially with the 1.00 exhaust housing). They can take massive huffers and be streetable. Love the Cosmo, awesome cars. Had one once - only had 220rwkW though (stock turbos and everything aside form exhaust & intake). Ran a 13.4 in the heavy bastard with a crapola launch then wheel spin (you get that with 20s) with the stock converter.

It's quite funny coming from having 2 Skylines where a 3040 is classed as fairly big 3037 and 2835 are good mid range. And where a TO4Z is HUGE.

In the rotary community - a T04Z is small for a 20B even a 13B - However - I don't know anyone that is running an HKS version - they are all Garretts. I have a very sneaky suspicion that I will surprise the Rotorheads with the HKS.

I didn't get the turbo for outright power. More for response and nice big fat power curve.

Full boost should come on about 2500 RPM on the 20B (Some say even less than that). And I will be happy for anything over 300 rwkw - but again, I suspect more.....

Will be matching this with the Halech E11V2 ECU, 550cc primary injectors, 1600cc seconaries - bigger fuel pump. Already have re resst of the gear on the car - big exhaust, bigger FMIC.

Going to get the manifold custom made from steam pipe.

Should be a ball tearer - and able to able to achieve a decent 1/4 time - FINALLY !

Stay Tuned !

Cool - that's a pretty good price. I got mine for a bit less than that, but not much less. You got the turbo 4 days before you ordered it ? How good is that :)

Blitz - I am hoping for better fuel economy after the ECU and turbo upgrade. Currently getting 300kms to a tank (85L)......... Thirsty bastard !

I was going to say that's what I get, lucky to get 300kms out of 80 odd litres!! God it was expensive to run, otherwise a perfect cruiser.

Should have got a thumper. Now that is a good steetable sized turbo for a 20B with decent top end. :(

I had a T66 on an RX7 which was a good street turbo, made 300rwkW on 15psi came on full boost by 4.5k rpm and ran hard to 8k. Rotaries love big turbos.

My cousin just put the Garret version of this turbo on a 12a, it's also got a custom (made by him) steam pipe manifold. Like you say they seem rediculously huge for a piston car, but for the rotars they are well suited..............something to do with the exhaust overlap i.e. more exhaust gasses per revolution than a piston motor.

Good luck with the mission of over 300rwkw

The reason for that gets rather technical and can cause arguements on rotary forums :) But yes subsequently rotaries are strong on the exhaust side of things and make the power of relatively low boost from big turbos (compared to their piston counterparts).

  • 2 weeks later...

Nearly ready to take it into the shop.

Got the HKS GT2 60 mm wastegate coming this week, plut al the turbo fittings.

Already have the 1600 cc/min secondary injectors, along with the 044 pump.

Sard BOV will replace the standard one

Custom steampip turbo manifold being made up, along with custom dump and air intake, filter box etc.

ECU will be Haltech E11V2

Should be ready to race in about 3-4 weeks !

Can't wait !

    • Yes, I know🙄 but the sequential is not in my budget... don't want to reduce power neither, so looks like I'm stuck in the rabbit hole🤣
    • You’ll be very upset when you bust that too not to mention the gearing totally sucks. Don’t do it.

    • So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
