i dont like the look of it at all,

the front bonnet lines are ugly the front lights look like they have a fold/bend in them, the grill is a strange shape and the arse end/tail lights remind me of a mongoloid r33 skyline with the red circles and white indicators below

to top it off it has a clubsport/te50 like bodykit

aparently the interior is almost identicle to the old camry

with a few added tweaks

i hope it didnt cost them $1 billion to come up with it

Its ugly....

I don't understand why Toyota don't save them selves a little money and simply rebadge the mark-x as the new camry.

Its a nice looking car with reasonable power and it will sell.

FWD really is horrid; accelerate moderatly hit a pot hole and it yanks you across the road. (380 GT Auto I drove)

looking at the target market, a to b, cheap as possible while looking not with as many comforts as possible it might do the job eh ? whats the price range ? 20k new ? sounds about the goods eh ?

shit house

We all remeber the days Toyota made exciting performance cars-JZA80 Supra TT, MR2T ...but now Toyota is all about the cardigan set......shit house

edit make that boring and shit house

i drove it today. I work for toyota so we had a half a day skidpan session and launch day.

If you are placing it against its competitors in the same class - yes the aurion has a lot to offer and does shizzle all over holden and ford .... in power which was demonstrated when we drag raced all three manufactures, in style and in what you get for your dollar. But its a family sedan .... will always be a family sedan .... its like the nissan maxima - all luxury .... not a true sportscar. To me the Camry is far more aggressively styled - the aurion looks a bit soft. The bodyroll in the non sportivo models had a big precence and it was a very quiet car - didnt sound like a grunty powerful car at all.

At the end of the day it is what it is .... it will do well in the segement it was meant for .... it has a lot to offer fleet buyers and families - but not sportscar enthusiasts.

Price wise:

AT-X - $34,990+

Prodigy - $39,500+

Presara - $49,990+

Sprtivo SX - $38,500+

Sportivo ZR - $42,500 +

(+on roads)

Any other questions - ask me :P

Personally i like the look of the first one... but yeah, the FWD aspect kills it

Whats Toyotas problem anyway... why fight the system?

Just make it RWD and everybody will be happy

Safety Aspect - Toyotas a reliable safe vehicles - not meant ot go sideways. They pitched the Aurion against a Ford Falcon in salom (wet skidpan style) to show how the Aurions VSC (which you cant switch off) works and how much grippier it was than the ford ...... aurion never kicked the rear out ..... ford spent all of its time sideways (so much fun) but yeah FWD is more a safety thing for Toyota. They dont make RWD cos that isnt the kind of market they are in their cars are no longer meant for track purposes - but family cars.

Whats hte difference bewtween the SX and the ZR?

ZR - leather seats, Front Reverse Parking Sonars, Smart Entry & Smart Start (push button start), Climate Controled Dual zone Air con

The Sportivo looks sensational

Sorry, don't agree with that...

shit house

Best line EVAH!!! :P

This thing will only sell because of old folk wanting to update their older camry, fleet sales and gov't cars. This vehicle is certainly not aimed at enthusiasts or anyone who enjoys driving.

This is the kind of car that would be purchased by someone who is only interested in getting from A to B

i think you are wrong with the above comment. Just because it doesnt appeal to you doesnt mean its immediately uncool. No it wont be a favourite with the younger generation but its not really in that price range anyway ..... it will sell very well to the market it is meant for obviously not a market you are in but still a more general market than old people and govt.

I'm so down on fwd as I've driven the magna's in the last 6-7years as they are released.

A few standard base models but the majority have been VRX 5speed with the occasional auto.

The new 380 GT Auto I drove had a fair bit of off the line punch and reasonable top end but it was difficult to get off the line clean; it would tend to spin up easily.

The older shape 3.5ltr VRX 5speed's were quite well balanced but you really had to hold on to them around corners; a 'spirited' drive through the hills left you feeling as if you had just run 25laps at Kart Mania.

The old 3.5ltr VRX auto's were pos... They would bog down off the line.

If you read my post I never actually said it was uncool, but now that you mention it...

I'm allowed to express my opinion and I didn't push it onto anyone else. Other people can say its cool if thats their thing, I simply happened to disagree with the initial thread starter and agree with the second poster.

Also, you don't have to immediately like it just because you work for Toyota. This is a Skyline forum after all and not a Toyota forum.

In all honesty I think Toyota have gone backward with their design of the camry. I actually feel that previous years models look better, including the just superseeded model.

i never did say i liked it - these arent cars that personally interest me .... but you have said that noone is going to buy it - which is not true ..... just cos it doesnt appeal to you doesnt mean it wont appeal to others - that is my point.

i'll take my 350z anyday over an toyota .... i chose a skyline over a supra and so on but that doesnt mean they dont make a good car - toyota make a brillant car - the amount of people i have in here that have been reffered by their mechanics saying that you cant buy any better than a toyota is amazing. Toyota do what they do very well: quality, durability and reliability ..... they aren't a sports car manufacturer but as i said before just because its not a RWD and its not this and its not that ..... its not MEANT to be those things its a family sedan thats to take on the six market and will do very well - as the new holden we had to drive wouldve been only a month old and already disintergrating in some areas so that alone was proof.

Oooh cat fight!

Anyway, remember that this *is* a sports car forum, any post about a Camry is going to be met with boring/bland/FWD/slow/boat comments - most people here will place styling, power, handling and driver involvement over and above boot space, seating capacity, fuel economy and NVH.

How is this saying noone will buy it?

I don't know about WA but the Qld Gov't buys heaps of camrys...if those aren't sales well I don't know what is really...

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
