Feul Gauge (standard One)

hi all,

this morning i had half a tank left and then noticed it was on full later on, gauge wont move and its stuck on full, can any1 help me, or give direction as to whats stuffed, loose, etc.

possibly the fuel guage sender in the tank?

either that or the actual guage in the cluster is rooted.

most likely the fuel guage sender is gone.

are you keeping the tank as full as possible in case you run out of fuel?

yer i get 350km's to a tank so once it gets to 300 i fill up

Taking a fuel tank off isn't too big a job. I recommend finding a mate to help, but you can do it by yourself if you have to.

I'm sure almost any wrecker can help you as it's an uncommon problem so they'll have lots of spares If you can buy a used GTR fuel pump for $150-$200 I wouldn't pay more than $60 for a gauge float.

Fuel light works off a different sender than the gauge

You shouldnt need to remove the fuel tank to get to the sender, it could be different in the 33's though, but underneath your boot lining or the back seat carpet (depends if your seats fold down or not) there should be a round shaped metal plate which you can lever of to get to the fuel pump and intank fuel filter, attatched to it should be a little black floater connected to the sender unit. The little floater gauge just clicks off. Dont forget to relaese the pressure from your fuel system before you take off any fuel lines or you'll get a very painful shot of fuel in the eye.

Then again if that little plate is nowhere to be found you just may have to get the fuel tank out, which would be a pain.

And i could be wrong, but im pretty sure im right. I'm sure someone will correct me if im wrong.

do R33 gtst series 1 have the fuel light?

I can't say I've ever seen it come on in my car. Maybe that's why I think I'm getting crappy economy as when it is showing empty it may still have fuel in the tank?

How much fuel is left in the tank when the warning light comes on?

i got series 1 too but i fill up when i got a quarter left...

most cars allow you to travel between 3-10km's once the light has apeared, duno bout skylines tho

i have a series one and there is a fuel light on it, but i only got it on once in its life i have had the car. went and filled up and only got about 57 litres in it so theres a bit left when it comes on

Ummm I've done 60km in my GTR. This post isn't for a pissing contest, just to share that there is a LOT more than 3-10km whilst the light is on.

I reckon that I have about 15 litres left when the light first appears and the manual says that it comes on with 7 litres left....

Sgould get 50 or 60 kays with the light on
