Unbiased opinion - I paid 20k for a stock December 97" S2 gtst 3 months ago. It was completely unmodified and had 58K on the clock. Dealer was a mate www.northshoreprestige.com.au and threw in an HKS Priest 3" Catback and a Blitz Pod. Not sure about powah as its not seen a dyno yet, but as is its an awesome car and blows the doors off my mates VS SS Commodore :)

S2 33's are awesome cars, hence why i bought one.

I get tired about people complaining about the wieght as stated earlier there is only 70kg difference with the r32. And the Power to wieght ratio is heaps better with the 33 than the 32 anyways due to the larger displacment etc and is infact close to the power / weight ratio of a gtr.

They are an awesome all round car, good looks, heaps of power, easy to modify and extract more power, solid, don't feel tinnie on the road like silvia's do and handle well. Make sure you drive a few cos you will see a bit of a difference between one selling for $16 and one for $20.

Just out of Interest, is this going by the 1320kg of the later model r32's or the earlier models which were listed as 1260kg??

From what i understant r33's weigh 1370kg. I wasn't aware that the r32 had two different weights depending on year. I thought they were 1290kg, which would actually make it 80kg (correction) either way it is between 50-110kg which the larger displacement more than makes up for anyways. By the way i dont have anything against 32's quite like them actually, just figured when i was buying that the 33 was a better everyday drivers car just being generally newer with more features like airbags, abs etc.

No worries, yeah I think 32's, 33's & 34's are all nice cars with good engines I have nothing against any of them. Personally I prefer the 32 so I bought it but I was likewise curious about the weight difference. Another thing that has to be considered is the weight added by compliance. Many 32's, in particular the older ones weighed less to begin with then were complied under 15 year rule so didnt need things like re-inforcemnets in the doors.

Unlike my car which is a later model and does have full compliance like all 33's would have. My doors are very heavy which you really notice when closing/opening but overall the car feels quite light and very responsive off the line and on downchanges also in directional shifts.

I havent driven a 33 myself to compare so cant say for sure if it 'feels' heavier.

My stock R33 GTS-T got owned by my friend's 2006 edition Maxima while we were competing on both running starts and traffic lights.

The only things he did on his maxima was his muffler, suspensions.and an aftermarket ECU.

You need to get your car looked at or learn how to drive. Your car should be capabale of 0-100km/h in 6.5seconds, and thats a alot quicker than any maxima, even with the minor mods described.

Im guessing your car is an auto so that would slow you down, but still maxima's are big sedan, your car is a turbo sports car!

that's what i thought too!

both our cars are auto. the maxima's a 3.5 litre car running the infamous VQ35DE V6 engine pushing 198kw at the flywheel even when stock (which is more than the stock R33 GTS-T).

I just put my car on a dyno, and it's peak power is 132kw at the rear wheels.

and yes, it's still ahead and pulling away after i've hit my speed limit set by my ecu (a bit after the needle went over 180). :)

Im not sure if ithe later model R32 is heavier but I know the ones with a sunroof add a fair bit of weight same goes with the R33.

Have to agree with what everyone is saying Silvias are for drifting. Skylines are a more comfortable for a everyday driver and the RB25DET has a lot of potential.

Stage 1 mods from my site can be had without spending a fortune and will give you 180 - 200rwkw this is a lot of power for a road car that weighs under 1400kg. Things start to get expensive after this though and you would certainly want to upgrade your suspention, wheels and tyres before you go any further.

Is your car a sedan? cause at 33 coupe with 132kw at the wheels should not have issues smoking a maxima (lightly modded or not). My 32 is pretty stock and b4 new exahust when it all it had was cat back and pod and the cat back was crap, prolly loosing power, but i g-teched 0-100km/h in 6.5secs. I know it is quicker than that now, but a standard 33 gts-t is quiker than stadard 32 gts-t. So something doesn't add up with your mate beating you all the way to 180km/h. And i hope this wanst on public roads!! but something tells me that hope is in vain....

It's a coupe. To add on, there were two people in my car, and three in his. Don't ever underestimate the nissan 2006 maxima... it's on a whole new level than the older maximas. :P

Apparently, the maxima can go from 0-100 in 6.8s stock, which puts it on par with a stock R33 GTS-T!

Have you ever launched your auto skyline?

I did on the weekend and it flies of the mark if you know what you are doing.

Power button on, over drive off, hold brakes, rev it gently past 2000 RPM but not over 3000 RPM, let go off the break and floor the pedal... awesome!

I got mine stock standard not even a pod filter.

cost me 15000 and loved it power was good handled great

I have since modded it and im now getting 201rwkw and love it even more.

take one for a test drive i did then i took it home because i didnt want to get out

Iv had mine for almost 6 months. Love it.

Fuel wise can hurt if you keep letting the turbo spool up but perhaps that was just me enjoying the feeling after coming from a NA car.

Size wise is a little more practical than the smaller S13-15. Plus the SII is a beautiful looking car from stock.

Best advice is to drive everything you can, cause all tastes are different.

Yea, that's what i did. It's not a matter of stop-starts too; i lost on running starts when both our cars are at about 40!

Yep thats what happened to me - I was going to buy a VY Calais and my mechanic suggested that we walk next door to Northshore Prestige and test drive a Skyline. I picked my Dec 97' S2 gtst out first, test drove it and 2 days later owned it.

Id have a late model 33 over a 32 any day cause genuine K's are way lower and are generally in way better mechanical condition.

    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though. 
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
    • BTW I measured the jack I have, it is 70mm at the saddle but you only have about 700 until it returns to 150mm high at the cylinder so it is good but no magic bullet.
    • My experience with Rising Sun Exports Before agreeing to the sale I tried to do as much research as I could (obviously), his Facebook reviews are 98% and he goes Live at least once or twice a week. I contacted 2 people in the UK who had used him for their imports, both had positive feedback. His explanation and talk through of the import process was thorough, answering any query no matter how stupid it was. It felt as soon as the money was sent, communication dropped off. I asked for shipping updates every 2 weeks or so, not wanting to pester him, he never had any updates. I wasn't informed the car had been dropped off at the port, I only found out by his Facebook story. I asked for the photos taken at the port, knowing he would need some for insurance purposes. I received a few 5 second clips and that's it. When asked again, he said his staff had them. Weeks later I asked again, he tells me he doesn't have any, but does have 50 photos from the original advert. I never received them. I eventually got the documents sent via WhatsApp after I mentioned the port was requesting them. I purchased a CarVX report, to find out the vehicle is a Grade R with recorded accident damage, first recorded in 2017 when it was first auctioned. He never told me the grade, then again I didn't ask. His response was "Grade R means nothing, it wasn't chassis damage". Still, I would have liked to have been informed about it. Jon prides himself on being open and honest when it comes to inspecting cars, it's his main job doing so at the auctions for customers. When the vehicle arrived in the UK I noticed a few little cosmetic issues. It's a 21 year old car so it wasn't going to be mint condition. The side skirts are cracked on each corner and the sealant is failing. The front grill on the bonnet/hood isn't secured very well, mounting studs are missing. Both minor things, but again, it would have been nice to be told. During a Facebook Live walk around video of the vehicle, he mentioned it has a front Whiteline anti roll bar/sway bar. While on the inspection ramp, I noticed the stock item has been installed. When first questioned, his response was "the ARB? Switched? Since when, it never had them". Since sending video and photo evidence I've not received a response. I'm probably being over critical of the overall condition of an old car, but all I wanted was honesty (which he claims to have). I'm aware I wasn't his only customer, he's busy doing XYZ but other reviews praise him for great communication with regular updates and photos, I felt I didn't receive the same treatment.
