They won't make one for a RB25 you will need to get one for a RB26

Cant find a solid answer if the RB26 one fits or not.....

Surely they arent different, Same P/S, A/C and water pump (or near enough to)

Will see what they come back with, ATI will know if it fits or not, so if there getting in contact with them I'll have an answer soon

On another note. I emailed Titan motorsport about an ATI balancer for an RB25 and they said there is no such thing and werent interested at all in helping

Emailed another American performance parts shop and they are going to contact ATI or get a custom one made.... lol no idea how expensive that is or if its just like one of the others I've seen which is just a mix of a few different ATI balancers

atleast they emailed u back callan. i've emailed a few american companies regarding parts and not one single email back, f**kin useless

also arent rb25 a 3pk on the power steering where as the 26 has 4pk. also think the neo is 4pk.... also belt spacing maybe different

Callan - There are balancers that support a trigger wheel too (I think the Ross does). I'd be looking into something like that if you ever plan on making over 300rwkw. The CAS is junk and they never work well at high RPM with lots of power. Toyota shit on Nissan when it came to Crank angle sensing.

Regarding the car....

I've considered:

EVO 9 or 10

2001 Toyota Mark II iR-V Fortuna

Honda NSX with turbos

R32, R33, R34 GTR

Jeep Grand Cherokee (lol)

S13 with RB26

V35 or V36 Skyline with twin Turbos

Toyota Caldina (lol)

Toyota Chaser tourer

The Fortuna looks pretty cool, has a JZX110 in it. Under $20k too so plenty of room for mods.

Its f**king doing my head in though, because I've always wanted a 10 second GTR, and I'm definitely looking at the R33s.

It least with the fortuna I can take it to the drift track :)

Bit more shit done today, next days off will be painting the engine all black and Rocker Cover will be getting the crackle black treatment, colour theme is Black, silver and white... f**k the bright colours. Spent the day degreasing shit how fun.

White, silver and black are great for engine bays. The only thing better is swapping the silver for a brushed stainless/alumminium look

havent heard back about the ATI damper, I mentioned I'm from Australia and think that scared them off. But I'll shoot an email to ATI direct to see what they can tell me. Hopefully its as simple as changing a belt or two or changing one of the pulleys

Just looked up the Ross crank trigger kit, $2000....... I think I'll try my luck with the CAS first. The quick research of done, STATUS has suggested it is mainly due to the gates belts and the noise they often produce causing an oscillation at higher revs (not all cases) and its less common on RB25's then 26's and less common with Power FC's

See what ATI come back with anyway, At least I have the option if i end up going a Ross

Crank Trigger is not worth you spending that much money Cal, honestly if your car was a full blown race car where engine reliability is a must and engine is worth over $50K then yes. But street cars making 300-400rwkw then no. Our crank trigger setup on our R32 cost lots of dollars and it still has the standard CAS but has been modified by Mark to read in with the Vipec Crank angle sensor (don't ask me how it works its all classified info shit). It took a lot of setting up and went through 3 crank trigger sensors before we got it perfect because the have to be so close to the chopper wheel and if you have any flex in the sensor bracket then kiss that sensor goodbye.

If your CAS is playing up 1. Buy a new one, 2.Swap exhaust cam to R34 type and Run R34 CAS then are newer. 3. f**k the Power FC off get a new ecu and rewire the engine and throw all the standard loom away chances are if half rooted anyway's. These cars are over 15yrs old now and shit don't last forever, especially electrical sensors.

P.S buy a Ross Balancer if ATI f**k you around there are nothing wrong with them.

Ben is right, but if you are going down the RB30 road I would definitely go for a crank trigger. I've seen too much variance when tuning using a CAS, and even seen an engine fail because of this.

If you're using the standard RB25 or RB26 then the trigger is not really needed. I think the RB25\30 suffers because of the different length of the timing belt which causes flex. While tuning, a car was varying 500rpm back and forth on the ECU because of the CAS \ Timing belt whip and flex.

But at least if you do get the Ross balancer, the option is always there, even if you don't decide to use it. (Increases the resale value too)

Anyone else seen a really f*cking clean R34 in white with a wing? Sounds awesome and looks amazing, i can't remember if it has a CF diffuser and i don't know if it's a GT-ST or what.

Not Kingy's R34 GTR it's the cleanest R34 I've ever seen.

    • Also, I logged some data from the ECU for each session (mostly oil pressures and various temps, but also speed, revs etc, can't believe I forgot accelerator position). The Ecutek data loads nicely to datazap, I got good data from sessions 2, 3 and 4: https://datazap.me/u/duncanhandleyhgeconsultingcomau/250813-wakefield-session-2?log=0&data=7 https://datazap.me/u/duncanhandleyhgeconsultingcomau/250813-wakefield-session-3?log=0&data=6 https://datazap.me/u/duncanhandleyhgeconsultingcomau/250813-wakefield-session-4?log=0&data=6 Each session is cut into 3 files but loaded together, you can change between them in the top left. As the test sessions are mostly about the car, not me, I basically start by checking the oil pressure (good, or at least consistent all day). These have an electrically controlled oil pump which targets 25psi(!) at low load and 50 at high. I'm running a much thicker oil than recommended by nissan (they said 0w20, I'm running 10w40) so its a little higher. The main thing is that it doesn't drop too far, eg in the long left hand fish hook, or under brakes so I know I'm not getting oil surge. Good start. Then Oil and Coolant temp, plus intercooler and intake temps, like this: Keeping in mind ambient was about 5o at session 2, I'd say the oil temp is good. The coolant temp as OK but a big worry for hot days (it was getting to 110 back in Feb when it was 35o) so I need to keep addressing that. The water to air intercooler is working totally backwards where we get 5o air in the intake, squish/warm it in the turbos (unknown temp) then run it through the intercoolers which are say 65o max in this case, then the result is 20o air into the engine......the day was too atypical to draw a conclusion on that I think, in the united states of freedom they do a lot of upsizing the intercooler and heat exchanger cores to get those temps down but they were OK this time. The other interesting (but not concerning) part for me was the turbo speed vs boost graph: I circled an example from the main straight. With the tune boost peaks at around 18psi but it deliberately drops to about 14psi at redline because the turbos are tiny - they choke at high revs and just create more heat than power if you run them hard all the way. But you can also see the turbo speed at the same time; it raises from about 180,000rpm to 210,000rpm which the boost falls....imagine the turbine speed if they held 18psi to redline. The wastegates are electrically controlled so there is a heap of logic about boost target, actual boost, delta etc etc but it all seems to work well
    • hahah when youtube subscribers are faster than my updates here. Yes some vid from the day is up, here:  Note that as with all track day videos it is boring watching after the bloopers at the start.  The off was a genuine surprise to me, I've literally done a thousand laps around the place and I've never had instability there; basically it rolled into oversteer, slipped, gripped and spat me out. On the way off I mowed down one of the instructor's cones and it sat there all day looking at me with accusing cone eyes as I drove past. 1:13:20 was my fastest lap, and it was in the second session, 3rd lap.  It (or me!) got slower throughout the day as it got hotter.
    • It sounds like you want what the Toyota Landcruisers have for their roof racks. Wanna know what you end up with? Rust holes in the roof, and water everywhere...
    • Discovered today that if I select reverse first and take my foot off the brake, then select drive, the drive indicator light works and so does the tiptronic gear indicator.
    • Ok so after much research and talking with knowledgeable people I've got my turbo conversion done and it's all running great other than 1 small issue.  Car has remained auto with the na auto and tcm, I've used a stagea ecu with. NIstune board and everything is great other than my gear selection on the dash. It illuminates park, reverse, neutral, 3rd and 2nd. But nothing drive or what gear your in when you pop it into tiptronic.  I'm sure there is maybe 1 wire in the ecu plug I need to move to rectify this. Does anyone here have any ideas?   Cheers guys
