Talk to Leon about mods and tuning. I've known him for many years. Done plenty of work with him.

Post a pic of your 33 Jake, might have seen you around

check out my post in the newbies thread as theres pictures there. but yeah i've got a pretty stock black 2 door R33 gtst, standard wheels also so yeah easy to spot...

also cheers i'll look into that, any mods that you guys recommend to do first?

Will do. I can't really comment i don't know alot about the R series liners but i'm sure most of the boys in here know their stuff and can help you out.

I have done CAI first with a high flow upper plenum, got springs + rims on the way and doing exhaust last. I try not to draw attention so i'm doing exhaust last aha.

around 2 months or so, normally fairly quite haha, but i did find a guy in a black or gunmetal skyline a few weeks back and had a bit of a drag up river street industrial area end.. not sure if thats one of you guys?

i'd love to do my mown work just sucks that i dont have a shed or the gear to do most of the work, plus little knowledge is a factor haha. I'm not sure what i'd like to do maybe, forge the engine, get a new ecu and fuel management, larger turbo. i'd probably be happy with that haha.

Forged internals are a bit extreme unless your thinking of running 350+ rwkw.

Realistically the stock engine is fine up to 300rwkw, and some survive even higher power then that with proper maintenance and supporting mods.

Doing a forged engine without the tools or knowledge to do any of it yourself is going to cost you somewhere in the region of $10,000 once you have your turbo, ECU, engine parts then work out if your doing all that work your gonna need a better oil system setup, fuel setup etc etc. The list will grow

Not trying to pick at your plan, just saying its alot of money you might not need to be spending.

Best way to do it is in this order.

1. Front mount intercooler, intake and exhaust. (Leon)

2. ECU (Powerfc, Vipec or Link G4) (Tuner)

3. Injectors (Tuner or Leon)

4. Turbo (NOT OFF EBAY, and not from some kebab shop owner) but talk to people that know what they are talking about. The best person is your tuner. (Leon and Tuner)

5. Drive it around until the engine dies or you want 350rwkw+ and have the money.

6. Either replace engine with another standard, or spend $15k rebuilding forged.

Is it a 4 door with a pretty shitty paintjob? Because i'm quite sure that thing is near or higher than 400rwkw

with the stupid nuts hanging from the tow hook on the back?

heard him bragging about how much power it had one day, and I thought..... It's still a 4 door R33

Epic Fail

Adding those gay ass nuts on the back, thats just a whole nother level of gayness

i'm not sure, but the guy that drives it looks a bit dodgy lol. I just heard off a mate it's got crazy power but i've never seen him gun it.

I dont really know what he's like, I just got a bad first impression from him.

plus I hate those F#@#R#@$ hanging prop things. Dont know how people think they look cool/good lol

Also if anyone is chasing parts for there car and want a part number (up to R34 is all I can access AFAIK) then let me know

I have got Nissan Fast working on my laptop, and its easier to give Nissan a part number then let them figure out what your talking about. Just need VIN number to search parts

i'm not sure how many doors as it was behind me and stayed behind me haha.

also i wasn't sure how much the standard internals could hold. i was just assuming that bigger turbo meant better internals =/.. i have a front mount and spitfire coils.. but other then that i have no idea on what my car has done to it.. any of you guys wanna check it out and tell me? haha

25's will hold up to 300rwkw with std internals no problem

If you do everything right and look after the engine you can shoot past this figure, but above 300rwkw is basically anyone's guess. Could last forever, could last a couple of weeks. A good tune and good servicing goes along way to keeping your engine healthy

Direct wired my fuel pump today. Seems to hold steady 18-19psi boost now instead of surging between 17 and 19

Needs a retune now, into the high 10's on my AFR's now lol

ahh nice to know that haha, also one of my mates has a spare hks intake manifold.. can i bolt that on assuming that everything lines up right. and not have to get a tune?

HKS intake manifold?

Not a Greddy one?

And I would at least take it and check the AFR's. If it's a Greddy like mine (well rip off version) then your changing the airflow into the engine, so it may or may not affect the tune. I had mine tuned after Plenum got installed, but I was running Power FC before this. Stock ECU is pretty safe with AFR's etc. Just get it checked out

    • For fuelling the Haltechs have O2WB fuel controllers. Very useful for helping tuning VE and correcting for *small* mistakes. Of course if your injector/cam/trigger/sensor data is just wrong (or for a GTT which is not a GT) then you will get impossible reactions to things. I am sure you know this already but the reason people don't typically put haltechs (or any Aftermarket ECU) on GT's is because there's practically no real gains to be had - So this knowledge won't be commonplace.
    • Can someone tell me if the cracks seen in the rear sway bar bushings in these photo's is unacceptable from a roadworthy point of view?
    • Shouldn't need a "base map" for anything other than guidance to ignition tuning. You just need the engine capacity right, the injector size right, and something, almost anything, for a VE map. On an NA engine, fuelling is almost completely a function of load signal & rpm. It should run and drive with a completely flat fuel map. It will be too lean under load, but that's easily fixed. We used to tune all ECUs without any base map. There were no such things (until someone had tuned a near stock engine on one, and then they had a "base map".
    • What did you actually buy/how much did it cost? When I got mine in like.. 2017...? 2019? the aim was to run Torque for gauges via ODB2 and things like Track Addict/Laptimers/Dashcam/Reversecam/Spotify etc. Mine never broke, but I wonder if you've got the same needs (it sounds like it). Cause I liked the idea of being able to do anything with it. That said, yours also cost 3x the cost of what I spent so... food for thought.
    • For me there is a massive difference in manufacturer or big brand crippled android (Sony, Kenwood etc) vs the sort of thing I've installed here, which is basically just a tablet in DIN form factor with open Android, and the other model of course is mirroring - Android Auto/Carplay. I hate the locked down manufacturer and AA options where they decide what apps I'm allowed to install, including the Launcher but also importantly things like Ecutek (for this car) or Real Dash (Stagea) are not supported. Plus those crippled versions tend to be slower due to both overheads and lower spec hardware. On the other hand, when this breaks I'll likely be in trouble for support....but how is that different to owning an Infiniti anyway
