holy crappers, i wouldn't have paid that much lol luckily i didn't stop in. Did u go?

Yeah, I coped it, not happy but! the food there was a rip off to! I should of put the money to the next mod for the car!

spin fest = rip off!

so when i waved to you on the nicklin way sam, i was going down for a drive by, but couldnt justify spending $20 to go see cars i most likely would have seen before. and most likely know the onwer's of anyway.

now u have comfirmed my suspicions lol

Bit of a kinda sunshine coast question.

I know its a bit north, but has anyone been on the gympie skid pan?

I didn't know it was there until the weekend when i was at the kart track and heard some action going on.

i havent actually been on it but i have been there when a local club has been there, looks like a good time, u can actually hire the place im sure, some driver training place owns or runs it.

yeh i did the same as u bsurk...drive by along nicklin @ 20km/h and realised id seen most of the cars anyway and that $20 for entry was ridiculous...kept going and spent $2 on a slurpee, much more satisfying

yeah, i just went for a walk up on alex hill for something to do instead.

The skid pan is alrite, its a bit of a lose-lose situation though imo its not worth $75 and only havin 6 or so cars there but on the other hand when I went there, there was 15 cars and it was only $55. Although the price was more suited you also to tend stand out in the sun waiting for 10 or so cars to have their turn so you can have your 5 donuts then either race back for shade and refreshments or hit the back of the cue and do it all again. The lap time trial thing they did was also fairly gay

not only was spin fest a rip off, but after the cops hand finished writing everones number plates down when everyone left, a good portion of them got defected, a mate who had his car their got screwed badly cause he had his nos with him and just laying on the passenger foot well disconnected (it was emtpy to) :( for spinfest

Yeh the cops are really 'cracking down' on modded cars of late.

I actually walked up and had a chat to a young cop in mooloolaba last thursday night who was radaring (sp) on parkyn parade...and i just asked him if he were the type of cop to defect/book young drivers for what seem to be very mild acts of stupidity and/or minor ADR infringements. And his response was something along the lines of, "i appreciate cars as much as any of you guys, i wont defect you for having a loose pod filter or a loud BOV...as i know they are pretty well harmless." and followed by "But its when you guys do the stupid sh!t, time and time again...expecially after all the media coverage, young drivers continue to do it."

So basically he said that, yes the force is cracking down on young drivers and yes that means modded cars are an easier target. He also said that there are officers on the force who are very biased when it comes to this, but they are generally the ones who are family/friends of kids who have died of late in crashes caused by speeding/drunkeness etc etc...

Clearly it was a revenue-raiser booking cars outside of quad park. But the rest is something to think about i guess...

I took a copa for a spin the in car about 6mths ago. absolutly love it.

Well the majority of them are normal people, just sometimes when they throw on the uniform their mentality changes.

I thought spinfest was ok. I entered my car in it as it doesn't get out that much. Some pretty sweet cars there. Heaps that I hadn't seen before.

I agree that the entry fee was a bit much but there was a fair bit of stuff to see there. Much better than sitting on alex hill IMO >_<

I also heard that the piggies setup 2 defect stations on nicklin way so I got someone to scout the area before I left. My car is mostly legal but some things are just BS. Will be pulling it off the road next June anyway, just have to last until then :D

cops will be blitzing for cars and hooning, but also the christmas drink driving thing also doesnt make life easier. so this time of the year is not the best time to actually be driving a vehicle with major or minor defects, just not worth it, they will get you.

There is a motorkhana every 3 months down at that skid pad. Ive been to the last 5 or so. $25 Entry & i think 8 or 10 tracks for the day. Not sure when the next one is as they were having insurance issues at the last one which was in nov.

It's a fun day but i do get roasted at everyone as there is no cover unless u bring your own!

    • Per Mark Roberts of Sonictune: Mark Robert Author At this time, no. No ETA either 2016-17 models. You will be able to purchase and install a 2018.5+ TCU though   TCU purchasing and pricing info! As we near the release of TCU tuning, I am going to answer some questions I get asked often.   What do I need for TCU tuning? At this time, you will need a 2018.5+ TCU to be able to tune. If you have a 2016-to early 2018, you will need to replace your TCU with the newer version. One good way to know if your TCU is good is if you have auto upshift in manual mode in 1st gear around 6500 rpms. If your manual 1st gear goes to 7k rpm and will hit the rev limiter unless you shift, you have the older TCU.   Why do I need to buy another ecu license/phone flash if I already have it on my ECU tune? The TCU is its own computer module. It is completely separate from the ECU. Because of this, you will be required to purchase a TCU license and, if your tuner has it, the phone flash license required to tune it via phone/bluetooth.   Do I need TCU tuning? TCU tuning is NOT required. However, the faster your setup, the more it will assist in track and dragy time consistency.   If I’m ECU tuned by (tuner A) can I get my TCU tuned by (Tuner ? Yes, since it’s a different module and a completely separate flash, you can have two different tuners. However, it is highly recommend that you have both tuned by the same tuner. For me, my TCU tuning will directly complement my ECU tuning style and features and running my ECU and another TCU or vice versa MIGHT cause some issues. At this time and for the foreseeable future, I will only be tuning my current ECU tuned customers TCUs.     I have a SYVECS AWD controller. Do I still need it? Yes! The AWD controllers main job is to control your AWD system. However, with TCU tuning, you will no longer need the auto-shift function as that will be done through the TCU. The AWD controller will still be very beneficial for racers looking to maximize traction on the launch.     Shift schedule changes: holding gears longer at lower pedal input as well as max shift rpm changes. Please note, the new ECU race rom coming out will address 90% of the shitty drivability issues these cars have through custom maps from myself and Racebox—as well as others I am sure.   Increase shift speeds: as seen in the videos I’ve been posting, the TCU shifts much faster once tuned.   Increased shift pressures: as also seen in the videos, much firmer full throttle shifts.

    • The fancy pants red shock tower brace is finally incoming from MX5 Mania, getting it shipped from 'Merica has been a long and problematic process, and GWR, the 'Merican supplier will not ship directly to consumers outside of the US, Mania basically had to order a heap of them, the colour choice was silver, or red, and we all know anything red adds 5 killerwasps of dynotorques..... Whilst it does fit over a 2.5, and I've seen a few photos and videos of it being installed and fitting, google also says it might get real close to the FAB9 intake front runner, people in the US says it does fit with the FAB9 intake, except for one person who said it slightly touched.......so there is that.....LOL..... As it seems that I am the first in AU to have this combination of parts there's no local knowledge about fitment, so I'm just a willing guinea pig in this endeavour, I'll cross my fingers and toes and hope for the best In other news, I ordered stuff from China  on the same day I ordered the 23° silicone bend from Victoria, the stuff from China arrived a day ago, the 23° silicone bend is still travelling around Australia thanks to Australia Post, and "may" be here next week
    • Very good news...I contacted Racebox about it last night. My car is a 2016 so remains to be seen if it is compatible, requires a TCU swap, or is impossible.
    • What ECU are you running? This is probably the biggest question. If it's a PowerFC, I'd probably change the ECU and get something newer that will handle the injectors in a nicer way.
