Beer Baron
I like the nissin ramen. they sell them at coles. They are a long way from decent ramen, but are decent instant noodles. they even come with a little pouch of sesame oil Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/142101-beer-baron-in-japan-pics-bs-stories-etc-in-here/page/6/#findComment-2690314 Share on other sites

Beer Baron
well, I did whore myself out for a while. to be honest I dont know how I really pay for anything. I work, they pay me, I rapidly spend the money! How the hell I pay my mortgage and keep my cars on the road let alone take my japan trips is a mystery even to me. I guess I do work fairly hard when needed, and get paid fairly reasonably. Plus I save bugger all. NYL83R
ohhhhh, now i want to go back when we went to Kyoto, we made the extra trek down to Himeji Castle.....recomended if you have not seen it before. Beer Baron
yeah, I didn't make it to Himeji this time I have heard it is excellent though. I was more keen to get to Miyajima as it's one of the 3 most beatiful views in Japan. So it was a choice between those two. Miyajima certainly didn't dissapoint though. Beer Baron
sidd, no airport pics i'm afraid. didn't really have the inclination, and i think airport security is pretty jumpy atm and may not appreciate this big white man taking pics. Yep, first half of the pics were canon S50, and second half canon 400D (after S50 met an unfortunate end). Beer Baron
ok, some pics ahoy mateys. (apologies if some are re-posts, but it can be said I dont know my post button from my elbow). This is a 700class Nozomi Shinkansen. The biggest fastest train in Japan. It hits over 300kmh in a number of spots on the Sanyo/Tokkaido line. I've now travelled this line from it's start in Tokyo to the end down in Kyushu. This is a 500 class Nozomi. It's a little smaller/shorter than the 700 but I think it may be a little faster? I'm not sure. But it also looks pretty sweet, but I think the 700 class is the newest, and most agressive looking. This is the Golden Temple at Kinkakuji in Kyoto. Such a beatiful, tranquil place. another pic of it. This is a shrine located in Kyoto near the Imperial Palace (i forget the name :embarssed: ) The grouds of the Imperial Palace in Kyoto. These are huge. and very nice. another pic of the amazing colour in the sky, and leaves at the imperial palace grounds. A small stree in Gion, in Kyoto. This is a very old part of Kyoto, and those of you who have seen memoirs of a Geisha will recognise it. I wandered around here a little at night, and got to see some real life Geisha on their way to appointments, and returning home etc. Some of them were amazing. A really fascinating area. This is the floating Torii (entrance gate) at Miyajima near Hiroshima. This is considered one of the 3 most beatiful views in Japan. and has been for hundreds of years. There are deer wandering all around the island. It's quite weird. Some of them have had their antelers removed (ie chopped off) but some still have them and you have to watch yourself around those. Here's two having a nice little battle. 5 story Pagoda at Miyajima The changing leaves at Miyajima. It's hard to capture the rich colour of these. They are so vibrant it's startling. Deer with antlers still intact. I gave it a wide birth. Well, I did piss it off a bit with some flash photography... haha. the floating Torii at night. Stunning. Now some more Osaka-Jo pics for Steve. The walls and moats of this place were astounding. And even more so given it still remains in the middle of the city. Such contrast of old and new. Also, the castle, grounds and moats took a crew of 100,000 men 3 years to build! This is the inner moat. Half is dry, half filled with water. The castle itself Here is the Hiroshima style Okonomiyaki I had for Dinner in Hiroshima at a place called Okono-mura (Okonomiyaki Town). It's a building and all floors are filled with shops making Okonomiyaki. That's it. Beer too. Hirsohima style is the type with noodles on the bottom (it's my favourite style of Okonomiyaki). Oishii kata desu. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/142101-beer-baron-in-japan-pics-bs-stories-etc-in-here/page/6/#findComment-2697101 Share on other sites
Beer Baron
ok, some more: some info on the stones at Osaka-Jo. No one really knows how they built this, and managed to position all the massive stones. check out the size of it! It's like the size of a small appartment. This is the new Auction bidding room at USS-K Gold. Seats over 1000 people. Bidding on 4 lanes. each lane has a car pass through at least every 15 seconds. So that's a total of 16 cars per minute or ~ 1000 cars per hour!!! The pace is frantic to say the least. That's all for the min. I've run out of energy. Will do more later. Beer Baron
Will you do tours?I pay good. lub u lon taim! yes happy to do a tour, but I'm in it for the money, not the lub! so if you can flop out some yen (instead of the wang) then we may be in business. or as we say in Japan: "hard money, pay down".
