To follow up the fund raising efforts on our last monthly cruise

This is the letter I received from Heather Lee explaining everything.

To Whom It May Concern:

Our second eldest son Adrian had been diagnosed with Terminal Cancer at the start of this year. Adrian turned 19 in December 2005, by the 19th January 2006, we were told he has Metastatic Adencarcinoma (lung cancer), which is a very rare type of cancer, especially for someone so young, and who has never smoked.

We have had 3 lots of chemo treatment but to no avail. We went on a trial drug called Tarceva this also did not help. Now Adrian has gone into Palliative Care, as both of his oncologists we were seeing are unable to do anything else for him. Therefore the Palliative Care doctors are trying to make Adrian as well as can be expected so he can try and enjoy what time he has.

We never actual told Adrian that he would only have short time to live as we didn’t what him to give up hope and to stop fighting for his right to live. While he was on his treatment there was always hope that this one may help. However Adrian is now in Palliative Care. Therefore Adrian also is aware now, that he only has months to live not years. This was the hardest day of my life to see my son trying to deal with that type of information at 19yrs old.

Adrian had his whole life ahead of him he was in his third year as an apprentice chief, just brought his first car and enjoying what time was free with his mates and family. I think that not been able to find any doctors here or overseas to help Adrian is very hard to deal with. However I think some days Adrian handles it better than Neville and I and the rest of his family, which consist of an older & younger brother and a younger sister, which all still live at home. He also has an older sister & a brother in law and a 1 year old niece, but they live in there own home.

Well as a family you could only image how hard this is to deal with. We want Adrian to try and live each day to the fullest. This is not always easy. I have had to give up work to become Adrian career. He want’s to stay at home not in the Palliative unit as the next closet patient to Adrian is about 50 years. Therefore we have doctors and a nurse that come to the home to check up on Adrian, and receive his medication for pain; they have been just great with him.

Hence the reason for this letter, we basically are asking for donations, you know pass the hat around or make personal or company donations, so as we can raise enough funds to take Adrian to Disney Land, and visit as much of the state’s we can. This is his Adrian’s last wish.

We would appreciate any help we can get or any ideas to help to get our son to the states. Due to Adrian time frame we need to do this ASAP so we hoping to do this by Christmas.

All donations can be made either by direct debit into Adrian’s account which has been set up in regards for Adrian’s pension. Adrian is unable to access these funds without my knowledge as all withdrawals have to be noted allowing the account to be audited if required. Therefore we would like to thank you for helping raising the funds to help send our son Adrian and myself to Disneyland/States.

Kyles -- is the one that has the number plates '4MYSON' on a 180sx..there has been a bit of talk on Tuned about raising money for him to go to the US!

Cancer is such a bi@tch but to happen to someone with their whole life ahead of them is even worse! Lets hope everyone donates and he can go do the things he loves

No disprespect to Adrian and his family but can we have some more info?

Is Adrian a silvia member ??

StageaGirl,

Yes Adrian has been a member of silviawa for about 18 months now. He has been fighting this for quite a while now sadly knows he wont make it. He is however, trying to live every day he can.

Sorry about that guys.. the text didnt come out exactly how i planned it in the post. It has been updated.

Hopefully that should work now.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thoughts and prayers to Adrian and his family.

I can relate as I wear the scares of my battle with cancer on my face.

I will be a grooms man on Saturday for my best mate so will not be able to attend this cruise.

Would love to help in some way though?

    • It would be different if the sealant hadn't started to peel up with gaps in the glue about ~6cm and bigger in some areas. I would much prefer not having to do the work take them off the car . However, the filler the owner put in the roof rack mount cavities has shrunk and begun to crack on the rail delete panels. I cant trust that to hold off moisture ingress especially where I live. Not only that but I have faded paint on as well as on either side of these panels, so they would need to come off to give the roofline a proper respray. My goal is to get in there and put a healthy amount of epoxy instead of panel filler/bog and potentially skin with carbon fiber. I have 2 spare rolls from an old motorcycle fairing project from a few years back and I think it'd be a nice touch on a black stag.  I've seen some threads where people replace their roof rack delete with a welded in sheet metal part. But has anyone re-worked the roof rails themselves? It seems like there is a lot of volume there to add in some threads and maybe a keyway for a quick(er) release roof rack system. Not afraid to mill something out if I have to. It would be cool to have a cross bar only setup. That way I can keep the sleek roofline that would accept a couple bolts to gain back that extra utility  3D print some snazzy covers to hide the threaded section to be thorough and keep things covered when not using the rack.
    • Probably not. A workshop grade scantool is my go to for proper Consult interrogation. Any workshop grade tool should do it. Just go to a workshop.
    • In my head it does make sense to be a fuel problem since that is what I touched when cleaning the system. When I was testing with the fuel pressure gauge, the pressure was constantly 2.5 bar with the FPR vacuum removed. When stalling, the pressure was going up to 3.0 bar (which is how it should be on ignition).
    • ECUtalk pages don't mention they support the ABS computer (consult port has more than one CAN), so you might just need a different scan tool. But, I would expect ABS is a different light to the brake warning/handbrake light, do you see an ABS light come on for a few seconds when you turn the key from ACC to IGN? But since you said: I'd have a look at the ABS sensors in the rear hubs to make sure they are not damaged, disconnected etc.
    • OK, if it idles at 1000+ with the AAC, its not an idle airflow problem. The cold start valve just gives extra air when the engine is cold, but you have enough air without it to idle at 1000. I think you are back to a fuel problem, sorry. Can you see the fuel pressure staying constant or does it drop as the revs drop to a stall?
