Sydneykid…

You generalised and were caught out… Ya get that…

This is my last post…

I’m sorry I ever even came to this forum.

As for the trip to Japan that you say you’re going to pay for…

No need for PM’s… Email me…

We’re off to Toda’s Fightex suspension workshop… (You did say my choice)

All expenses paid by you…

What you’re suggesting would be cool, but honestly… I don’t believe you.

Roy

oh and i'd like to ask, what is wrong with them outsourcing parts anyway? For example carrillo rods and shit like that, heavy duting forgings of there rods are known to take over 1000hp, for the price to strength there pretty damn good really. That goes for all the other manufacturers too, they produce in greater numbers than the jap shops, they can therefore lower there prices.

I just dont see the point of the argument really.

Hey Xeron - Love the subtle link

But you are right, there is nothing wrong with outsourcing. It has been happening for ever, and will continue to.

I personally have a problem with companies who outsouce their catalogue, then double the price and give them their flashy names in flashy boxes, and neither corfirm or deny that you can buy the exact same thing from the original manufacturer for half the price. I believe their should be more information available about this, as we all have a budget which limits our performance. I would hope that, Like I and Sydneykid have, is made public (for SAU and SDU forums anyways) about certain products that are available from the original manufacturer, for half the price. A lot of this information is hard to come by, and can save you HEAPS in the long run...

You realise that none of the Japanese make their own injectors?

They are largely all Denso.

I agree with Sydneykid, in general the Japanese often outsource their parts and charge a premium.

Whether Toda do this I can't say but to say that it's not a common practice because Toda do not do it is short sighted.

Nippon Denso is a Japanese company…

The Denso injectors sold by Blitz, HKS & Sard are all priced competitively…

No secret is made as to the origins of these products…

With regard to TODA Products… For the record…

TODA Racing uses the latest design and manufacturing equipment to produce TODA products. All product design is carried out using the IBM CATIA (CAD/CAM/CAE) which is the same system used by Honda, Boeing, Ferrari, and other high technology manufacturers.

All TODA products are manufactured in-house by TODA. Having an in-house manufacturing capability means there are no compromises in design or manufacturing. Product testing is carried using advanced analytical software, engine bench testing (engine dyno), and race testing

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
    • It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.
    • If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.
    • Lock me in mate, although I'm not sure if I'll be heading up from Goulburn or down from Sydney, either way, return will be back to Goulburn
