Cruise & Camp (victor Harbor Or Other Alternatives)

Recommended Posts

Yeah that is probably true when it comes to Victor, there are other caravan parks down that way we could go to. Could make it Normanville or Goolwa or even Rapid Bay. Will call the victor caravan parks though before rulling this out, but need a better idea of numbers first.

Thinking he may be referring to more than just crashes mate. Break downs & stuff would also be on the cards for that long a trip.

I'd also suggest if we were going to go as far as Stansbury the car's being used are running reliably, & that people should try & bring tools & spare parts just in case.

Somewhere like Victor it's not so hard too go & get something if you really need it.

LOL we are driving skylines so i can see reliability being an issue :P

Yes well I'm a southerner too which explains why I keep seeing you :P. Figured it would be a bit further for us, probably about 2 & a half hours for us roughly.

I think one of the main points of this though it that it should be an enjoybale drive to get to the destination & then coming back too rather than just a boring highway trip. Personally I've never been over to the Yorke peninsula so I wouldn't know what the roads are like.

Another suggestion might be Wallaroo nice beaches, fishing, close to Moonta Bay and Kadina. Also a hour away from clare if your into wine. Trip up there is easy about a hour and half bit dry at the mo so mostly brown in colour. Some farmers weird structures on the way up to lol at.

i think a two night stay would be good sumtime caravan parks have dormatory type cabins your can hire

our church group went to wilminton the other year and we got like a 12 berth cabin not modin but cheap and fun we had like 12meter bon fires each night

i love Yorke Peninsula, it's heaps nice up there

but it's such a long drive.

It's amazing what different people call a long drive.

My wife's family live 6 hours away near Port Lincoln, and we'll drive there and back in a weekend.

I'm not a huge fan of 6 hours after a full day of work though.

Her father has driven to Adelaide and back in the same day a couple times!

He he, I'm into a bit of fishing too, won't post pics cos i don't want to hijack the thread. I'm up for anywhere as i said before, my car is reliable ;) (touches wood)

I have a annual trip down yorks, good fun, great people, nice drive, good fishing and too much beer :D But that's real camping, not this caravan park stuff

I'm up for 1 or 2 nights, but if it's for 2 nights i'll need a bit more notice due to work. I'm guessing it would be the same for others tho.

If people are worried about reliability there'd be nothing stopping people from driving non Skylines. While the drive is part of the adventure, I think it's more the social side of things that comes first on this one :D Just my thoughts, feel free to disagree.

If we do go a bit of a ways i might be a good idea to organise someone with a trailer to ferry some gear across, big esky, bbq etc. we could chip in a couple of bucks each to cover the extra fuel.

Yeah I don't think 2 to 3 hours would be so bad myself. I'm used to spending well over an hour traveling each day.

    • The final part arrived today to un-clampify and simplify the intake Who would have though a 1/2" hose stainless bulkhead fitting designed for below waterline bilge pumps would be what I needed Test fit on a 3" offcut I had laying around to see if it would work, and it worked a treat All going well the intake will be on its "final version" tomorrow
    • Good luck on the weekend mate
    • Must have been an absolute nightmare to drive when the power steer was out, the rack ratio/wheel size/caster is all set up for power assistance
    • Welcome to SAU, what are you looking at buying?
    • I checked the injectors again (1 and 2, since they’re easiest to access) to make sure they weren’t clogged. Even though the entire fuel system had been cleaned, I wanted to be certain. Everything looked clean, so I reinstalled and connected everything. When I started the car to confirm everything was okay, it immediately revved up high, so I shut it off straight away. I checked to see if I’d missed a vacuum hose or something, but everything was connected. On the second attempt, the car ran without the high idle, but I noticed a distinct “compressed air” sound coming from the engine bay. Tracing the sound, I pushed injector #6 forward slightly and the noise stopped — it turned out it wasn’t seated properly, despite the fuel rail being bolted down. While holding it in place, the car idled steadily without stalling and ran for over 5 minutes. At this point, I pulled all six injectors out just in case I hadn’t seated them correctly or dirt had gotten onto the O-rings. Unfortunately, I discovered that I had damaged 3 out of 6 injectors (the OEM 270cc ones) during installation. So yes, this was my fault. Since only the pintle caps were damaged, I’ve ordered a Fuel Injector Service Kit from NZEFI to refurbish them. In the meantime, I reinstalled my new injectors – the car now idles fine for over 15 minutes without stalling. I have not attempted to drive it so far. It’s not perfect yet, as it hesitates when the throttle is pressed, but it’s a big improvement. Unplugging the IACV with the new injectors idles at around 800rpm, even with the IACV screw tightened fully. But this is probably due to tune.
