Also not wanting to start up a debate about injectors but the standard ones

were deffinately used for the tune. I straight away said mate this dyno must

be a very happy dyno. But thinking back these guys hade a dyno day about 2 years

ago where the car was run and made 160rwkw. At the time the car was also run on

two different dyno's in a 4-5 month period. The difference between all three was 1kw.

Also the owner said he thought they were very good numbers and added that he has

the dyno regularly calibrated by dyno dynamics. The Nismo fuel reg was used and

only a bit more than standard pressure was run. He said he would deffinately

not run rediculous pressure through any cars that come through the workshop.

I did have the S15 injectors ready for the tune though, just in case. :P

ill be using standard injectors for my tune too, with just an safc2.. std afm.

i'll be maxing out the afm and injectors within safe limits till i get something better.

Joe. Just to let you know that my standard air flow meter was maxing out at 195kw

but only in cooler weather (cold morings etc). But every car being different you may

get more. :miner:

got my turbo today. i ended up installing it at night with my house's sensor lights, a LED light and a mate always walking around to get the sensors on. it took me around 3hrs, it was farking dark and i smoke alot.

the order i did it was: (after fitting actuator and oil drain pipe).

-line up the dump pipe and put the nuts and bolts in but dont fully tighten

-sit the oil drain pipe into its position and nip it up but make sure you've got a little bit of movement

-fit the water line that comes from the engine side of the turbo

-bolt the turbo into place onto the manifold, do all of the bolts up tightly before starting on the oil feed line.

-line up the oil feed line and the water line on the other side and tighten

-go back and double check everythings tight.

-make sure you do an oil change + top up your coolant before starting your car.

-then wack all your piping back on.

when i was turmed the car on for the first time i unplugged my CAS, let the motor kick over to build up oil pressure then once it did i plugged it back in and started it then let it run for 10mins as Aaron instructed.

look out for leaks etc so be ready to turn the car off, best to disable the turbo timer for the first few starts.

p.s. its 4am, im sure ive missed something but ill edit when i get some sleep.

i was lucky enough to score an 0b6 vg30 exhaust housing which is the largest housing they come in. looking at the difference in wheel sizes, it makes my pants all tingly.

the car sounds a bit meaner. i havent boosted it at all yet because my little ball bearing inside my turbotech boost controller disappeared when i accidently opened it all the way when trying to turn down the boost.

but i still took it for a drive and it feels good even though i couldnt boost it :) .

i thought the drilling to 6mm would effect oil pressure, but it didnt at all. all temps are fine too.

im going to run around 7-8psi (well, the lowst i can), when i get a new afm ill go get it tuned.

lag doesnt seem too bad, but without a boost controller i dont want to give it at all to find out.

i hadnt thought about it Paul but i might actually do that, last thing i want is bearing failure while im at the drags or on a track. but im sure the turbo will be up to it, it hasnt shown any sign of weakness.

What boost will you run? (when you find ur ball bearing!!)

I found mine very noticable as you would expect. But this was greatly improved

once the car was tuned.

I fitted mine myself; you really need another person there when you're installing just to help out. Mine performs great with the PFC now in. Boost hits hard, no real traction to speak of through first second and occasionally third at only 8psi.

Double check your water lines on start up, I had trouble at first getting mine to seal (seeping out coolant). They need to be just that little bit tighter than you think they should be.

Boost response has reduced a bit at driving speed (60km/h 4th gear), but definitely worth the sacrifice.

Also check the wastegate before installing, I noticed mine was a little loose when it first arrived, didn't think anything of it. Now once installed it rattles and it’s driving me crazy. It'll only require taking the dump off and putting a circlip in, but I’m lazy and that'll take effort.

im thinking about getting one for my Rb25de as my RB20 turbine is shagged after many minutes of zero oil pressure driving. (on old blown RB20)

has anyone got one of the Ball bearing garret items that sliding stocks?

i took the car out for a bit of a hammer last night, 10psi is the lowest my boost controller will let me boost.

the car feels pretty good, boost comes in nice and strong, and because im running so rich from 2500rpm (when stocky would start spooling), the turbo kicks in at around 3700rpm.

im pretty sure with a good tune it will kick in a bit earlier.

the map isnt closed loop, your fuel map is determined by the amount of air passing though your AFM.

your larger turbine will come in later and suck more air later, so until it comes on boost, the ECU will add the correct amount amount of fuel for manifold vacuum.

when it does come on boost, it will see more air going through the AFM and compensate with more fuel

I just got a chance to give mine a decent run last night.

I installed the turbo last week but still had the stock injectors in, so was using the actuator only to control boost (ie. ~10psi), so it was pretty slow and boring as the wastegate would start to open as soon as you made + pressure, then slowly built to .6 bar.

Installed some 555cc injectors last night and put the turbotech BC back on set at 1.1bar.

I am getting 1bar at ~3200rpm and full boost by 3500. First and second gear are a bit of a joke if you are up it and this is still running the PFC tune from my old hi-flow (which wasn't much bigger than stock, just with steel wheels).

It feels pretty fat fuel wise so hopefully a re-tune will have the turbo spooling even earlier :)

    • I had 3 counts over the last couple of weeks once where i got stranded at a jdm paint yard booking in some work. 2nd time was moving the car into the drive way for the inspection and the 3rd was during the inspection for the co2 leak test. Fix: 1st, car off for a hour and half disconnected battery 10mins 4th try car started 2nd, 5th try started 3rd, countless time starting disconnected battery dude was under the hood listening to the starting sequence fuel pump ect.   
    • This. As for your options - I suggest remote mounting the Nissan sensor further away on a length of steel tube. That tube to have a loop in it to handle vibration, etc etc. You will need to either put a tee and a bleed fitting near the sensor, or crack the fitting at the sensor to bleed it full of oil when you first set it up, otherwise you won't get the line filled. But this is a small problem. Just needs enough access to get it done.
    • The time is always correct. Only the date is wrong. It currently thinks it is January 19. Tomorrow it will say it is January 20. The date and time are ( should be ! ) retrieved from the GPS navigation system.
    • Buy yourself a set of easy outs. See if they will get a good bite in and unthread it.   Very very lucky the whole sender didn't let go while on the track and cost you a motor!
    • Well GTSBoy, prepare yourself further. I did a track day with 1/2 a day prep on Friday, inpromptu. The good news is that I got home, and didn't drive the car into a wall. Everything seemed mostly okay. The car was even a little faster than it was last time. I also got to get some good datalog data too. I also noticed a tiny bit of knock which was (luckily?) recorded. All I know is the knock sensors got recalibrated.... and are notorious for false knock. So I don't know if they are too sensitive, not sensitive enough... or some other third option. But I reduced timing anyway. It wasn't every pull through the session either. Think along the lines of -1 degree of timing for say, three instances while at the top of 4th in a 20 minute all-hot-lap session. Unfortunately at the end of session 2... I noticed a little oil. I borrowed some jack stands and a jack and took a look under there, but as is often the case, messing around with it kinda half cleaned it up, it was not conclusive where it was coming from. I decided to give it another go and see how it was. The amount of oil was maybe one/two small drops. I did another 20 minute session and car went well, and I was just starting to get into it and not be terrified of driving on track. I pulled over and checked in the pits and saw this: This is where I called it, packed up and went home as I live ~20 min from the track with a VERY VERY CLOSE EYE on Oil Pressure on the way home. The volume wasn't much but you never know. I checked it today when I had my own space/tools/time to find out what was going on, wanted to clean it up, run the car and see if any of the fittings from around the oil filter were causing it. I have like.. 5 fittings there, so I suspected one was (hopefully?) the culprit. It became immediately apparent as soon as I looked around more closely. 795d266d-a034-4b8c-89c9-d83860f5d00a.mp4       This is the R34 GTT oil sender connected via an adapter to an oil cooler block I have installed which runs AN lines to my cooler (and back). There's also an oil temp sensor on top.  Just after that video, I attempted to unthread the sensor to see if it's loose/worn and it disintegrated in my hand. So yes. I am glad I noticed that oil because it would appear that complete and utter catastrophic engine failure was about 1 second of engine runtime away. I did try to drill the fitting out, and only succeeded in drilling the middle hole much larger and now there's a... smooth hole in there with what looks like a damn sleeve still incredibly tight in there. Not really sure how to proceed from here. My options: 1) Find someone who can remove the stuck fitting, and use a steel adapter so it won't fatigue? (Female BSPT for the R34 sender to 1/8NPT male - HARD to find). IF it isn't possible to remove - Buy a new block ($320) and have someone tap a new 1/8NPT in the top of it ($????) and hope the steel adapter works better. 2) Buy a new block and give up on the OEM pressure sender for the dash entirely, and use the supplied 1/8 NPT for the oil temp sender. Having the oil pressure read 0 in the dash with the warning lamp will give me a lot of anxiety driving around. I do have the actual GM sensor/sender working, but it needs OBD2 as a gauge. If I'm datalogging I don't actually have a readout of what the gauge is currently displaying. 3) Other? Find a new location for the OEM sender? Though I don't know of anywhere that will work. I also don't know if a steel adapter is actually functionally smart here. It's clearly leveraged itself through vibration of the motor and snapped in half. This doesn't seem like a setup a smart person would replicate given the weight of the OEM sender. Still pretty happy being lucky for once and seeing this at the absolute last moment before bye bye motor in a big way, even if an adapter is apparently 6 weeks+ delivery and I have no way to free the current stuck/potentially destroyed threads in the current oil block.
