Hi..

I dynoed my car like last week at ISmotor in Sydney and get 130rwkw only..

I only have SAFC ,3 inch catback, filter, bov on the car now..

When they dyno the car after 130 km the car start rumbling..

It runs 8 Psi all the way..

The mechanic said my coil pack and spark plug is not good,

so i ordered Splitfire coil pack.. they said 10 of 15 R34 have problem with the coil pack

But then i asked few people that when sumthin not right with the coil pack the engine light will show on the dash..

It confuse me now :D:thanks:

So Anyone have any idea whats wrong with my car..

Thanks in advance

Also how much power am i expecting from Tiptronic R34 GTT..

I've recently run into this problem, it was indeed the coilpack not working but it was only half f*cked. The engine light couldn't come on but the coilpack would work/not work very quickly - this resulted in my car stuttering and missing all over the place. Might have to get a set of splitfires myself soon.

He said he got 15 Gtt coming to him and 10 of them got this problem..

And he own a GTR R34 and have the same problem..

Dont have the graphs cause i dynoed it to tune the SAFC but its unsuccesfull cause of the car giving problem..

100% sure or not.. The coils cost almost $1000, if its not the coil problem ill be wasting my money..i just paid the deposit and its comin dec 5 if its not the problem probably i can cancel..

So how many Kw normally if its a stock R34

Oooo, now I understand what your saying. I'm not one to speak but you need to structure your sentences a little better.

Yeah if you find you need splitfires get them from Nengun or Perfectrun. Should only cost you about $550 delivered and maybe 1-2 weeks delivery time.

If it was the coilpacks wouldn't the car be misfiring? Or can they cause other problems as well...?

Just a quick question.

I have seen all this posts with R34 and failed coilpacks shiting themselves.

R34's are only roughly 8 years and younger.

Are they a bosch unit? (Sorry i haven't pulled mine out to check)

I have worked on various Japanese car's as a mechanic and have never seen major problems with coilpacks.

Has anybody checked to see if there is somesort of official "service bulletin", similar to what Ford and Holden do to make diagnosis faster?

Cheers

Josh

Yup i have backfire in my car, and when the car gets hot it start to like rumble..

i just wish the splitfire will fix it..

I had that in my old CA18DE, swapped every single coil and in the end turned out to be the crank angle sensor.

Ended up getting one from one of the guys in my club, nissanexa.com. But i think it was about $150 for a good second hand crank angle sensor. Also it retards timing too if it's rooted.

I'm not sure how much it is for an R34, but if you find out let us all know. Still always good to get a proper diagnosis, swap out the coils first because that's the easiest to do. If you're planning on upping the boost by a significant amount, i'd still go the splitfires, because in the end you'll probably end up doing it so even if it doesn't fix the problem you wouldn't have wasted your hard earn.

My two bobs.

    • Have you done the Ignition Sync Wizard in the AEM software?
    • Find out what RPM it was idling at with the IACV unplugged. It's very weird that the rpm didn't change at all, and then it stalled. When it stalls is it nearly like a switch off, like you've turned the engine off? Or is it more stutters and sputters and coughs to death over a few seconds? Or does the RPM just slowly keep going down and down? Have you done a test of trying to start it with the AFM unplugged? Does it still die?     If you Follow Josh's advice on using Nistune to check the voltages (which is a perfect method!) if you see anything out of wack voltage wise, THEN get the multimeter out and read the voltage directly at the sensor. If the two vary, then you're now looking for a wiring issue vs a sensor issue. So be aware, what the ECU sees, may not be what the sensor is actually saying too...
    • You very likely need to get it on a dyno and tune it. My assumption is, you've got an RB25DET tune in it, which has a different manifold, different injectors, and different cams as a minimum. What O2 sensor are you running?   When you say it runs extremely rich from idle all the way to redline, is this just free revving it you see that?
    • I seem to the be only person that is using a Haltech 2500 on an NA motor, I've installed a Bosch DBW throttle body to the OEM intake manifold and am having problems maintaining AFR even with the wideband o2.  It will run extremely rich at idle and up to redline, but under load it will go extremely lean in the 20s and i'm essentially having to rev it over 4k and feather the clutch to get it up to speed.  I've read a few other threads of about the butterfly, it seems removing the vacuum to it is supposed to have it remain open, i've noticed no difference under 4k with the vacuum line to it plugged.  I'm hoping someone here has had luck using the NA manifold with Haltech, and if they happen to have a tune for it.
    • I don't know any details, but I really wouldn't be surprised if they do it as a LHD only version, at least initially.
