Just looking - that PIARC weekend in July also falls on the same weekend as the SAU (WRX) event at Winton. And that's the only visit to Winton we have for the year. So I'd suggest finding another date - even if it is early 08?

Bugger.

I am waiting for reply to my email sent to PI Sprint Sectretary yesterday to see if any other days or events or anything we may be able to work in with. What about L2S private practice days?

John,

PI is..... difficult to get. They have a lot of Bike ride days but other than the PIARC weekends (which usually is only 3-4 each year) there is no real track days at PI other than various club sprints. And even though everyone loves going to PI you will find most clubs will only go to PI once a year due to the costs involved. If you look at all the Vic club calanders there is hardly another track day down there for the whole year. But I also think the WRX Club who we run with were only granted one date this year even though they might have wanted to run a 2nd round.

Pretty much to hire out the track for a day will cost you around $20K for everything you need anyways. So then you need 100 people at $200 to break even. And THEN you will have the 75dB noise limit placed upon you as only the PIARC weekend have the 95dB limit granted to them.

As I said - PI is difficult.

Im told with the amount of bikes and testing that bikes and V8s do their...well club car days are not really on the radar like it is at other smaller curcuits. I have no wheard 3 people tell me that plans are a foot for F1 to be testing there...they just need ot modify their pits to accomodate. So im pretty sure McLaren will priority over us hacks. Farkin Alonso :)

Yuck cost more and harder to get to than Eastern Creek. Eastern Creek have HEAPS of track days at least one a month.

What was the track day you guys did at P I the Sat before Easter as not on their callender or are you guys special?

John - it was a club sprint day - run by the WRX Club.

OK so are there other days that we don't know about as I could nto see this on PI track website in callender of events section or am I stupid??

Yep John - that is only the events held by PIARC the club.

If you want to know when other clubs are holding events there the only option is to go to each club individually and find out if and when they are holding an event at PI.

I know there is an MSCA event (which you don't want to go to) and the PIARC weekend in July. I don't know of any other club events this year.

The clubs I would recommend going to a day with (WRX, Maserati, AROC, HSV and FPV) have all had their event at the Island for the year already.

    • Just trying to get my head around this. At 5psi of boost, you turn on your wmi pump, and then you're using a 3000cc injector, to allow flow upto the actual engine, where you have your 6x200cc injectors and a 500cc injector. If the above is correct, what advantage are you obtaining by having the 3000cc injector blocking flow, is this just incase a line breaks between that injector and the motor you can stop flow immediately? Or are the 6x200cc and 500cc less injectors and just spray nozzle?
    • Welcome! New member myself, but I had an R33 back in 2002. Best advice I could give, based on my experience: if you're running the factory turbo, be very conservative with boost. I made the mistake of just fiddling around with the boost controller and cranking the boost for fun, and the end result was my intake pipes popping off frequently from the constant deluge of oil that was being blown into the recirc by the stressed-out turbo, which itself was siphoning oil from the engine and farting it out both sides of its centre bearing (or something to that effect). If I could do it all again, I would have gotten a new turbo and had a tune dialled in professionally and then just left it alone! Funny you mention the metal shavings in the gearbox, as I had the same thing - the probe plug (magnetic drain plug, essentially) would come out caked with shavings. At least it was doing its job. Not sure if that's just sacrificial wear and part of the deal, or if my gearbox was shagged, but I wasn't abusing it. Enjoy the R33 - they're a dying breed, and if they weren't $35k+ on CarSales in Queensland, I might have picked up one of those again, instead of the 370GT I own now (though I'm loving the 370GT, that big 3.7L V6 just hits different).
    • Howdy folks. I owned an R33 back in 2002, which was thoroughly beyond my capacity (financially speaking) to maintain/insure, so we parted ways in 2004. Fast forward 21 years (to literally yesterday, in fact) and I'm now the proud owner of a 2007 V36 370GT. I'm happily surprised by how much power the VQ37VHR makes, compared to the RB25DET, considering the latter is turbocharged. I had planned to add a turbo at some point but I'm on the fence about whether I'll even need it (though I do love the sudden onset of extra torque). Any other 370GT owners around the traps, I'd love to hear about your experiences with this car (good and bad).
    • Perhaps the answer is... more jacks!* *proper jacks must be used.
    • I NEVER think about using a scissor jack unless there is absolutely no other alternative. f**king things are dangerous, annoying and stupid.
