hey every1 (first post)

ive heard through word of mouth that as of next year skylines and s-chasis's wont be eligible for import no longer. Apparently this was because there is simply too many here. Sounds a little far fetched and unfounded, but can anyone put truth to this?

cheers

Nah, that is a total load of rubbish - rest easy knowing that you will be able to import even more makes and models next year as the list of SEVS approved cars grows.

If they were concerned about there being too many of one model around then they can start by cutting back on Commodore and Falcon production

I heard RX7's are no longer allowed to be imported? :[

this one is true. that happened awhile ago, restricted turbo models only? im not sure on that part. but but it was series 7 and 8 models i think they stopped allowing them to be registered, not sure if it was qld only, but if i recall, resale values went up ?

Man... rumours these days are getting a little silly. Back in the day they were actually plausible rumours.

Compliance by a RAW and SEVS is a national legislation, so if you can bring one car in into VIC then you can bring that very same car into QLD. I don't see why QLD registry wouldn't allow you to register a car with the correct paperwork etc, unless the registrant had restrictions on his license etc that stopped him from doing so.

1988 and old cars however do not go through the national scheme and as such is up to the discrepancy of the engineer/registration authority of each state.

There are plenty of others that 'could' be imported also if there was enough demand and someone was willing to put up the money for a test car, but hopefully these examples above will give you an idea of some of the newer models coming up and a little eye candy to keep you busy for a few minutes too.

Are the Evo Wagons going to be available for complience in Manual?

The EVO wagon (CT9W) was only built in tiptronic automatic so and manual models around would have been manual conversions.

Most compliance workshops are saying that they will not comply cars with transmission conversions although there are a few around that have no problem with it, so it depends on which workshop gets plates for this model first.

Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
