silvercam
was just wondering if there is any differents between a rb20 cefiro engine and 32 engine do they use the same turbo? are they the same in parts and performances? cheers Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/148463-rb20-cefiro-and-rb20-32-differences/ Share on other sites
Chris_A31
There are a few differences, one being the sensor plugs on r32 are round, square on a31. Also the r32 engine has a little more power in stock form. The r32 has factory bov and a31 doesn't. I have heard there is more potential for higher power outputs from the a31 engine, not exactly sure how or why though. Not sure on if the turbos are the same Edited December 23, 2006 by Love_Hate Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/148463-rb20-cefiro-and-rb20-32-differences/#findComment-2771058 Share on other sites
daisu
I'd guess that the engines themselves are physically the same (besides the lack of BOV) and that the power difference is in the ECU. Though the difference in power output is negligible from what I remember. D-limo
Coil packs, ignitor and related loom are also different. Some choose to retro fit opposing parts from R32 when the packs eventually fail. Another option is Splitfire adapters wich allow R32 packs to plug straight in. BenA31
difference in power is due to the ECU and very slight difference in cam shafts from what i recall. Although i could be wrong... salad
I also remember the camshafts being slightly different. A31 afm also has the Z32 afm plug. Z32 plugs straight in Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/148463-rb20-cefiro-and-rb20-32-differences/#findComment-2771154 Share on other sites
silvercam
thanks for all the replys so with these spitfire plugs can u get spitfire coils that u can just plug in to replace the stock coil packs over coil pack problems? dangerous_daveo
I guess also being a tad newer in many cases they might have ironed out a few bugs in the engine if there were any. CEF11E
The cefiro inlet cam has a longer duration and the exhaust cam is retarded about 2 deg from the R32 cam. ceff afm, coilpacks and ignitor are different. ECU also only has 1 fuel map and 1 timing map as opposed to the skyline. it has 2 fuel and 2 timing maps. If you look at the 2 maps the skyline runs 3 deg more timing and has different load tp scaling. salad
Does that mean an R32 gts-t ECU would be a decent upgrade for A31? (for safety's sake) I know they run A31s cos my friend borrowed my remapped ECU Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/148463-rb20-cefiro-and-rb20-32-differences/#findComment-2771436 Share on other sites
huddy
ceffy & skyline rb engine turbo's run different water/oil lines, slight modifications are needed to banjo fittings etc. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/148463-rb20-cefiro-and-rb20-32-differences/#findComment-2771471 Share on other sites
D-limo
thanks for all the replys so with these spitfire plugs can u get spitfire coils that u can just plug in to replace the stock coil packs over coil pack problems? They are adapters. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...mp;hl=splitfire Seems Splitfire didn't want to manufacture different coilpacks for the same engine. If you could get hold of a R32 coil pack loom and are 1/2 handy with electrics you could easily knock some up yourself. lySdEXiA
the turbo is different also, R32 is ball bearing ceffy is plain bearing. also slight differences in the exhaust side. later ceffys run the rounder R32 style loom plugs, but most are early ones AFM, coils, CAS and some other sensors are the same as R31 Redtop RB20DET. turbo is also the same as that of a redtop. loom (bar the plugs), injectors, head is all the same as r32. funkymonkey
while working on my dad's cef (series 1) I found that it had more parts in common mechanically (well, engine and electrics) with the R31 GTSR than it did with the R32 GTSt. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/148463-rb20-cefiro-and-rb20-32-differences/#findComment-2807385 Share on other sites
S13 SecaBoy
i just found out that my R32 RB20DET engine is being run off a cefiro ECU... can anyone tell me if this is dangerous for the engine? i'm trying to track down an R32 ECU, but having no luck so far... if anyone can help me by answering that question, it would be GREATLY appreciated...
