KANEBO CHAMOIS :: Japans Number 1 Selling chammy (2002)

Hi guys. For those of you out there who have used a Kanebo Chamois; no further introduction will be needed and you'd probably want to buy one up already! But for those who don't know:

These chamois are far better than anything you've ever used. You think the Meguires one is good? It is, but it's of lesser quality and durability than this chamois. I've tried way too many chammy's but they're all crap and don't soak properly. These were sold in Australia about 10+ years ago but not anymore for some strange reason. My dad bought one 10+ years ago and we're still using it today (though after 10 yrs it has become a little torn lol)

After a long long search I have found an oversea's supplier: SINTONG TRADING. They were hard to find as they were rebranded to AION PLAS CHAMOIS years ago.

These images accurately portray the effectiveness of the chamois (and I Kid you not!):

GROUP BUY CANCELLED. I WAS UNAWARE THAT THESE WERE SOLD LOCALLY. YOU CAN PURCHASE THESE AT SUPERCHEAP AUTO

Cheers, Ben.

Hi guys, Thanks for the quick replies. The price I'm guessing would be APPROXIMATELY $20 - 25 delivered. Keep in mind you are paying for japans BEST chammy.

These are like no other. People lucky enough to still have one.

my parents got one ages a go not sure where from though. I have tried a few difffernt brands but no good, inlcuding all the expensive ones from autobarn.

If these chamois' are as good as they sound, thats a good price! Japans best Chamois?! I want to try it! I just paid more than that for a big Kenco thing

The Aion chammys are still available at supercheap auto for about $8 for the small one.

There's nothing special about them. it's good, but no better than a kenco.

In the comparison image, it's compared to a towel. Of course it'll dry better.

the kanebo plas chamois kicks ass. my parents got one and its something like 20 years old, but still in great condition. works so much better than the crappy ones i have too.

someone check out super cheap auto and tell us if they still stock them and prices.

Many people are already aware of how good these things are. I have never seen these anywhere before.

I will go out to supercheap auto today to check if they indeed stock these. If so, the group buy will be cancelled for obvious reason. I am not here to profit on this group buy. The reason for those costs are for postage reasons as they are coming via japan via singapore.

The size of these are (large) 680x430.

I just checked my chammy sitting on my desk. I bought 3 of them, because I only ever use them twice, then chuck them.

Aion Plas Chamois Synththetic

Made in Japan

Sole importer Nichimen Australia Ltd

Size 340 x 430

Bought 3 of them last week at supercheap auto. Woolies also used to sell them.

They're good, but no different from the kenco one.

$8 each from supercheap.

Big and small sizes available. Big one is like $15

LOLL MAJOR UPDATE: GB CANCELLED

Just dropped by supercheap now:

Large ones are $15.45

Small: $8.25

my apologies. These are GREAT... they last for years. all those who have had a kenabo chammy can tell you that its literally lasted them 10 years or so!

These are rebranded KENABO chammys! The new name is AION PLAS. I ordered one from singapore which is why the price is sitting at around $20.

The Kenco ones are full leather. These ones are made from a PVA sponge which are used in cosmetic applications. They are softer on the surface of your cars paint.

And I would say the quality is better. thicker bigger and known to last many many years.

This thread i guess can serve as a reminder that the kenabo chammys were rebranded to AION PLAS.

Cheers, Ben.

>> This group buy was organised by me to try to benefit the members of SAU. I was unaware that these were sold locally. Hence me cancelling the group buy. The brand is relatively unknown in Australia but these are top chammys with jap quality.

    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
    • Legend. I ended up finding the facebook account of the owner of the first car i sent but sadly he deactivated the account. I think you’re right in saying it’s some sort of well done custom job. Really appreciate your help anyways.
    • Totally equivalent. Stock often goes from the comp cover because that's where the actuator is also installed and the factory needs 2" of hose to make the connection - and it comes as a pre-assembled unit. They totally have a boost reference from somewhere between the turbo and the throttle(s). Oh, jeez. Just do it in M12 then. We don't actually care that much. I would expect any such AN converter fitting to rely on an o-ring or some other seal onto a flat surface under the flange of the hex**, because bolt threads are no intended to provide a pressure seal. unlike..... pipe threads. **which also requires a suitably flat and smooth surface on the turbo's boss to provide the seal.
