RB25DET ones from a R33 dont work....different ports IIRC and verry different water lines etc, and more.

Greddy dont do one, used to a long time ago (i think)

Jun copies can be had from japan for cheaper than what calais turbo dudes were making.......stryder ones from thailand are available but look fair average....

The jun copies pop up now and then on ebay

Plazmans units are pretty good.

These look ok as well. Shorter runner length than using the factory bottom half. Works out to around $700 inc frieght.

ey what are the benefits of a plenum? is it worth the $800?

well ive seen RB20's well into the 200rwkw range with stock plenum.

So its your call if you think its worthwhile... personally... i'd spend the money on cams or something else.

The plazman units have been tested to deliver 15rwkw peak power improvement over standard on just a stock turbo application. So thats 15rwkw you can't get with the same setup on the factory plenum. Peak power is however the least important fact and almost not worth looking at. The average power increased significantly. Plus the bonus is better response off boost which the Rb20 so desperately needs.

I'm considering one myself because I can't get away from the fact that it's a good idea every way you look at it (if you have a front mount like I do) and not really that expensive once you have decided not to exceed a level of power but, you are chasing more average power.

Average power is king you see. Sure you can get to 200rwkw with or without one (then again the plenum is probably always going to be 15rwkw or more higher) but, with the higher average power this ought to give you, a car equiped with one will smash one without in any gear and in any enviroment. It simply will out accellerate it period. Or if you want to cap the power at 200rwkw you can achieve this with less boost.

I'm not suggesting you don't look closely at the dollar value on performance return (it's worth getting as much info from the manufacturer to back up the claim) but, peak power means bugger all by itself.

Those stryder plenums are rubbish, Ive seen them in australia. Welds could be done better by a shop kid in high school. There are better examples out there.

They have short runners therefore (correct me if im wrong) less responsive down low and a larger tank so it will actually decrease response. But as the average rb20 intercooler piping is vastly reduced in length it will even out and probably work better.

From memory, the longish runner length on efi applications usually is to do with pulse interference at low engine speeds causing issue with mixtures. More for low speed / light load on a turbo application. It gives each cyl a more sepparated source of air for better mixtures. Once force fed it becomes a non issue and restriction takes over as the big problem. Longer runners might be slightly more restrictive in that situation. Bell mouths help improve over the factory design and perhaps might offset he shortening of the runners a bit for less pulse interference.

I did see a pic recently of a Stryder plenum and the bell mouths seemed to be hard up against the walls of the plenum, that would kind of negate the benifit they have.

The Plazmaman units look very good though.

    • The filter only filters down to a specific size. Add to that, the filter is AFTER the pump. So it means everything starts breaking your pump even if its being filtered out.
    • Just like in being 14mm too small (296mm) makes it not fit, being 14mm too big (324mm) it also won't fit. You want to find the correct rotor.
    • @GTSBoy Ok so that was the shops problem...they showed R33 rotors on R34 page and i did not know 296 do not fit(and are for R33) Yes i bought "kit" with rotors and pads. Pads are ok(i have GTT calipers front and rear). They have some 324mm but no 310mm. So i dont know if they would fit. I have 17inch LMGT4s So another question. Can i fit those in the rear or they are just "too" big for that?
    • I started removing the tank a while back with the intent to give it a proper clean. Got to a bolt that I couldn't undo completely due to a diff being in the way, so just said f**k it and siphoned the gluggy old fuel out and called it a day. Looking it the tank it looks less corroded than the one in the pics for that billet hanger from Frenchy's anyway. Isn't it the fuel filters job to worry about this stuff? I scraped off most the crusty shit of the hanger but will give it another go before reinstall coz maybe the fuel and return pipes are also full of gunk  
    • Pretty sure it is a common fault. I believe this is the only part you need, but don't quote me as I don't have a V36.  I also believe it is a bit of a pain to change and the device needs to be encoded to the car once it is replaced, so may need someone with the right tools.
