Hey all.

I had a great day down at wakefield park raceway on 24/1/07.It was myself, dad, cousin & dads mate.We were supposed to have another come allong but the impending rain threat turned him away from the day out.

Had a few misshaps b4 starting the race day out.

The the sprayer nozzel blocked up on me that morning when i put it on to test it.So i ended up just squishing the hose together at the tip faced it at the intercooler and sprayed it that way.It wasted water like you would not beleive and would not have been as efficeint at cooling the intercooler thats for sure. But the good thing was that even though it was a hot day,it was stopping detonation (ping) @ 13psi on the stock turbo.going hard all day long.

Also id like to add that a stock 6.0L SS has torque of steel for a stock engine. The old man was walking away from me as i shifted into 3rd gear, while i was in 3rd gear, and so on.I was gaining on him in the twisting sections though it wasnt enuf to pass him.Plus he is a good driver. :miner:

I met a few others from the SAU forums there that untill that day i didnt know. They were Andrew aka grippy (track spec r32 gts-t) and Reece aka turismo (bmw 318i) whose mate had a track spec r32 gtr.

The best times for the day in my group were,

Dad- 1:12.9 manual,SS 6.0l VZ commodore, stock allbeit bar bendix brake pads,(will check up on what they were),with potenza re040 street tyres.

Me- 1:14.3 manual,r33gts-t,on rb74 pads and federal 595ss street tyres.

Dads mate- 1:14.? auto, monaro CV8Z LS1,stock allbeit bar bendix pads and potenza re040 street tyres.

Cousin- Was the official timer/picture taker .lol.he needs to have a few more things done to his car before it is track worthy.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Grippy was slightly quicker than the old man though cousin didnt time him grrr.I beleive he was in the 1:11.0 - 1:10.0 region on semi's.

Reeces mate,in the gtr,was pulling 1:10:?'s on potenza semi's.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All cars were getting extreemely hot though.Lucky for me i took the precautions of all those new cooling mods. We had 20 min intervals in between sessions of street & race cars to come out so it did give the cars a bit of time to cool down.

My R33 Gts-t

All in all the brakes were working well, though i did have do really dip into them, and at times thought they were a bit spongy.Which could have been the stock brake lines (flexing) or stock rotors (not letting enuf gasses out). There was a slight hesitation coming onto boost into 3rd gear.Im blameing the coil packs .The tyres were performing very well i thought, just had to check that the tyre pressure was up to scratch on all 4 corners each time i came in and they treated me nicely each time i went out,and had them up to temp..

Thanks for reading,pics to follow.

Craig.

Trust33 whats with the oil cooler vent? Why not just cut slots into your inner guard? It's only plastic after all! LOL!!!

Also, what's your brake set up? Sounds like you had some fading issues.

What pads are you running?

Tell your cousin - cool pics! and he doesn't need much done to hit the track, get him out there!!! Bet you he must've been spewing when he saw all of you blokes going around.

Who's got the stock black R32 GTS-t? Looks like it only has FMIC and xzorst?

What No BMW Dori Dori Pics :0

But Seriuosly guys, had a great day, you guys were good fun and I think everyone is happy with there times. This is the first time I've ever been to a racetrack, and its the first time I've driven a 200hp+ car, let alone a Track spec GTR

Definantly keep me posted on any upcoming days at Wakefield, or Eastern Creek or any where in NSW

My Times

1.18 in a stock 95 318is, Blown shocks, Old sun damaged 2nd hand front tyres, and 240,000k's on a 1.8L N/A Motor

1.12.9 in a track spec 32 GTR, Coilovers, 14psi, rollcage, and elec tourque split and the tyres where just regular Potenza at the end of their life (they came with the car from Japan about 2 years ago)

The owner of the GT-R was in the 1.10 area

I did have a lot of trouble on the day though, GTR overheated every 8 laps or so and had to take it back in and the BMW had troubles but weren't track related (Under 100kw at the fly, blown skocks and sun damaged front tyres maybe ) all 4 wheels were flat spotted half way through the day buy the owner of the cars

Cheers, Reece

The whole reasoning behind the vent was to avoid debri's flicking from the tyre directly at the oil cooler. This way it can vent the required air and keep any nasties from damaging it.

I know that there are many people out there with the setup you are talking of and i havent heard of any probs with them cut.but seen it is my daily somthing is bound to find its way where it shouldnt.

If you look at the opposite side behind the stock cooler,it has the same thing but is moulded into the plastic. :D

Thanks alot, looks sweet as :)

Next time I go up I should have the skyline, and an LSD no matter what, so it should be a bit easier to get the dori dori action happening >_<

Give us a PM when you get things hosted, good to see a bit of footage of you guys,

Cheers, Reece

Last time I was at Wakefield they wanted to ban me for getting sideways!!!

My avatar is a photo from my last visit and the pimply teenager with the flag on pitlane had a go at me saying drifting isn't allowed, blah blah blah.. and if I didn't stop I'd be asked to leave. BAH!!!!!

The thing was it wasn't drifting anyway, I wouldn't call a little power oversteer on the exit of corners drifting.

Pffttt! Damn Wakefield... all the photo's and adverts for the place show a red 200SX getting hell sideways. They advertise and promote the shot, but when you get down there to do the same, they wanna kick you out??????

Did anyone get told off for getting sideways like I did???

p.s. sorry for long rant!

    • Apologies for the long post, but needed somewhere to lay out the entire timeline of events and actions taken:   I've got an 89 GTR with a R34 RB in it. It's been running great all year, driven probably 500KM in the last month. It's not my daily driver, just a weekend fun car.    Build info: R34 RB26 - HKS 2.7 stroker kit, HKS adjustable cam gears, HKS turbo upgrades, Trust intercooler, R34 factory DENSO 440cc injectors, JUN chipped/tuned R32 ECU. All of this work was performed in Japan back in 2019.    Thursday 10/2/25 - It's a nice day and decided I'll drive it to work, I start it up in the garage and I notice it took a few extra cranks and sounded a bit funny. I figure maybe it was just because it was a pretty chilly morning. I pull it out into the driveway to warm up a bit before leaving. As I leave the driveway, it feels very off and sounds like a misfire. I pull it back in the garage to deal with after work and take the daily to work. I was able to diagnose it as a cylinder 5 misfire with the old spark plug test (unplugging each plug until a sound change with the engine running). I take off the whole ignition system, ignitor, plugs, spark. *Important note, it is still on the R32 ignition system with the separate ignitor system. I test each system with a multi-meter and nothing presents as a smoking gun. I put it all back together and it starts up no issue. I go ahead and order the PRP R35 ignition conversion kit. It should arrive today (10/13/25)   Friday 10/3/25 - Another nice day, car starts up great and drives great all day. Very pleased that everything seems to be OK   Sunday 10/5/25 - Decided I'll take it to play some golf, load up and drive to the course about 25 minutes away. Drives wonderful the whole way there, I pull in the parking lot and the engine completely comes to a stop. I do not recall if it sputtered at all, but just remember all of the sudden the engine was off. I roll it into a parking spot, try to crank it back on and nothing.  It'll crank and crank and not even try to start. End up getting it towed back to my house and push it up into the garage.    Items I have checked: Fuel in the tank Fuel Pump relay Fuel pump fuse  Spark Plugs & gap Coil packs Ignitor    I know the cylinders are getting fuel as the plugs smell like fuel after a start attempt. I tried spraying starter fluid into the manifold and cranking and not even a sputter.    I decided to do the live CAS test (removing the the CAS, ignition on and spinning the CAS stalk to see if the injectors pulse and spark is active). All of the injectors were pulsing and I have spark at the plug. The half-moon end of the CAS did seem very loose, I'm not sure how much play is supposed to be there, but it was more than I expected. There was no in/out play of the shaft, just the tip end that is pinned on had quite a bit of play.    CAS Play video   When I put the CAS back in, I stupidly did not re-time the engine. I know I need to do that tonight, however, I do not think it will start given it seemingly was not the issue. My plan is to do the PRP R35 coil kit and retime the engine at the same time.    I plan on ordering the Haltech Nexus Plug-in ECU once they are available again, but ideally would like to get this sorted before firing the parts cannon at it and potentially adding more variables.    Anything glaring that I am missing here, I'm a bit at a loss?
    • Get it on a dyno. Get something logging Consult. Run it up and find out what is causing it.
    • Looking for a plenum for rb25 de+t neo  Not looking to push much power maybe 300kw at the wheels, is there much difference in flow for Freddy “Greddy style” compared to original Greddy or options like Proflow or Otaku garage?    I won’t be porting the de Neo head for now as I think it’ll be fine 280-300rwkw but appreciate the help and any experiences anyone has between them and any advice. Thanks  Looking at this plenum for now below
