You guys on here are incredible. All this guy wanted to do was tell us that he got defected and how it is unfair, but the police and general victorian attitude towards Performance cars brainwashing has rubbed off onto you and you guys have become like cops yourselves.

Police reads these forums and see that you tools are in favour of what they do and as a result do it some more.

Everyone here Im sure likes to enjoy there car and Modify it, why not. People with 4WDs mod them too.

Not everyone can afford a big fine and a defect and to afford getting a roadworthy. Its a lot of money which some people dont have or the time it takes off work etc and what does it achieve.

Fair enough and unroadworthy car is a unroadworthy car, but for ridiculous things that this guy has mentioned I think its a load of rubbish.

But ohh well, doesnt matter, all you brownie points scorers are gonna jump on ans preach about how compliant you are with the law so victoria will become an even more anti performance car state.

whether you agree with what the defect was given for or not, or the attention import drivers receive is justified or not, the fact that it does exist at the moment and we all have to live with our choice of car. There are a lot of idiots out there in all kinds of cars, imports and locals...imports are easier to spot in a crowd so they are targeted more...right or wrong its happening.

I am lucky at the moment (touch wood) as with WA plates on it I have not been looked by the police...they just keep driving. The thing that annoys me the most is with cars that you see driving around bellowing smoke. We take good care of our cars and they run a lot cleaner than a lot of cars that seem to go by unchecked.

The fact that u got pulled over in a skyline that sticks out is not surprising. But i just gotta ask do u show them some respect when u get pulled over or do u give them attitude or act hard? If u give them respect and act normal they shouldn't be harsh on u and speak down on u. If they do however ask them for their names and badge numbers straight away and tell them you dont want to talk to them until u get some sort of witness (but always keep your cool). Also i dont know about VIC but in NSW cops use car mounted cameras and mics to film everything when they pull u over. u can always use that footage as evidence of harassment but remember it works both ways. If u have defects they have the right to book u which is fair enough but no matter what they cant talk down on, insult u or be aggressive if u don’t pose a threat. I have been pulled over a few times but each time the cops were ok to me. But I make sure I show them respect and act normal (don’t act too nice and try to suck up as a lot of cops might see you as weak and take their anger from a shity day out on u).

Ey, Its not Kim to you, You dont know me for shit and I would wanna know you either so dont try to pretend to. I dont see how you can tell me to F*&K off considering I have been on here for longer and owned so many more skylines than you have!!

i'll call you what i want. and i dont want to know you, i dont associate with people such as yourself. and wow you've owned more cars... congratulations... the point is this...

so get over it. harden the f**k up and dry your eyes.

A bit off topic, but if you get pulled over in Vic, can you get out of the car? or do the police see that as a threat? In WA I normally get out of the car and meet them at the back of the car and start talking. If I ever get pulled over here I dont want to get out of the car and the cops thinking I am going to do something and they pull a gun on me or something

as far as im aware your meant to stay in the car unless they ask you to get out...

but i dunno if thats right.

I don't need to get over it...I dont have a problem with it. I have altered my car because I wanted to, and accept any issues I get because of it. I was trying to get across the same point that you are  To accept the possibility of being stopped by police because of the cars we drive and having it looked over...and possibly defected.

the harden the f**k up reference was to him. not you.

dont mind us hype, we havent owned 80+ cars and havent been driving for 90+ years like starionturbo...and our R33's are shit boxes compared to every single car he has owned....thats just the way it is

whats with some of you guys? who cares if he whines or whatever, you dont have to read it or post? ITS A PUBLIC FORUM

Some of you here think your in the police force, chill out no need for attiude, you keyboard warriors!!!! (wouldent be surprised if some of you are cops though... haha)

:wave::huh::no: :sorcerer:

Not everyone can afford a big fine and a defect and to afford getting a roadworthy. Its a lot of money which some people dont have or the time it takes off work etc and what does it achieve.

Victoria has certain regulations in regards to what's legal and what's not for a vehicle to be used on the road.

People have options.

Nobody is forcing 123456 to drive a vehicle which doesn't comply.

It's his own choice.

When someone chooses to do something which they know full well could cause them grief, it's nobodys fault but their own.

Most people don't need a degree in rocket science to know that if you play with fire, you will get burned, eventually.

Some people learn the first time, others will keep sticking their hands in the fire to see if the same thing happens.

....but honestly, there is no point in complaining about it.

I've already offered the best possible advice for this type of situation, but seeing as nobody has taken it on board yet, I'm not opposed to repeating myself.

    • It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about. Reliability of everything in a 34 drops MASSIVELY above the 300kw mark. Keeping everything going great at beyond that value will cost ten times the $. Clutches become shit, gearboxes (and engines/bottom ends) become consumable, traction becomes crap. The good news is looking legalish/actually being legal is slighly under the 300kw mark. I would make the assumption you want to ditch the stock plenum too and want to go a front facing unit of some description due to the cross flow. Do the bends on a return flow hurt? Not really. A couple of bends do make a difference but not nearly as much in a forced induction situation. Add 1psi of boost to overcome it. Nobody has ever gone and done a track session monitoring IAT then done a different session on a different intercooler and monitored IAT to see the difference here. All of the benefits here are likely in the "My engine is a forged consumable that I drive once a year because it needs a rebuild every year which takes 9 months of the year to complete" territory. It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about with this car.
    • By "reverse flow", do you mean "return flow"? Being the IC having a return pipe back behind the bumper reo, or similar? If so... I am currently making ~250 rwkW on a Neo at ~17-18 psi. With a return flow. There's nothing to indicate that it is costing me a lot of power at this level, and I would be surprised if I could not push it harder. True, I have not measured pressure drop across it or IAT changes, but the car does not seem upset about it in any way. I won't be bothering to look into it unless it starts giving trouble or doesn't respond to boost increases when I next put it on the dyno. FWIW, it was tuned with the boost controller off, so achieving ~15-16 psi on the wastegate spring alone, and it is noticeably quicker with the boost controller on and yielding a couple of extra pounds. Hence why I think it is doing OK. So, no, I would not arbitrarily say that return flows are restrictive. Yes, they are certainly restrictive if you're aiming for higher power levels. But I also think that the happy place for a street car is <300 rwkW anyway, so I'm not going to be aiming for power levels that would require me to change the inlet pipework. My car looks very stock, even though everything is different. The turbo and inlet pipes all look stock and run in the stock locations, The airbox looks stock (apart from the inlet being opened up). The turbo looks stock, because it's in the stock location, is the stock housings and can't really be seen anyway. It makes enough power to be good to drive, but won't raise eyebrows if I ever f**k up enough for the cops to lift the bonnet.
    • There is a guy who said he can weld me piping without having to cut chassis, maybe I do that ? Or do I just go reverse flow but isn’t reverse flow very limited once again?
    • I haven’t yet cut the chassis, maybe I switch to a reverse flow. I’ve got the Intercooler mounted as I already had it but not cut yet. Might have to speak to an engineer
    • Yes that’s another issue, I always have a front mount, plus will be turbo plus intake will big hasstle. I’ve been told if it looks stock they’re fine with it by a couple others who have done it ahahaha.    I know @Kinkstaah said the stock gtt airbox is limiting but I might just have to do that to avoid a defect so it atleast looks legit. Or an enclosed pod so it’s hidden away and feed air from the snorkel and below Intercooler holes like kinstaah mentioned. Hmm what to do
