Only in the fact that it has to physically pump more oil around (extra oil in the lines etc) Personally I doubt an oil filter relocation kit would have enough effect to actually starve the head.

wont affect anything. We use a truck oil filter thats about four times the size of the std skyline one and its got about 1m of line to it and then it goes to two oil coolers and back to the motor.

also what sump would i have to use to run in a s15?

That would depend on where you have the motor sit in the bay, best to install the motor without the sump, fabricate the mounts to suit, then see clearances to the cross member and sway bar etc

or have a chat to Fatz regarding what they did in his S13

I haven't used SolidWorks as such, but I used to work for an automotive R&D company and there I used SolidEdge - pretty much just a leaner version of SW :) At the moment I use microstation to do all my drawings whether they be .dwg or .dgn.

Waiting for my N1 oil pump and bearings to arrive then my RB30 will be running again.. after xmas will probably see a GT35R get bolted on

I'm just about to get the cams sorted from Tighe cams for mysetup.

I've been recommended by both my tuner and Tighe cams to go the 265/265 in/exh.

My only small concern is will the 265/265's lope over noticeably on idle? A mate has the 254/254 cams and the idle is baby smooth; the note did change slightly but there is no lope.

If the 265/265's do lope would the 254/265 setup smooth the idle?

I wouldn't mind a slight lope but I've been you tubing SR20's (same bore stroke) with 264 cams and they lope over like bridgy's. :S

All though the SR's do run a LOT more lift that I will be running (8.9mm).

The cams are hydraulic so no doubt slightly reduced ramp rate which may also smooth idle slightly compared to rb26 solid cams.

Any guesstimates based on sort of similiar experience? :S

Considering the cams you are running at the moment, either setup will be a vast improvement. Being that you aren't running a huge turbo, the power difference of the 264 inlet cam over the 254, i wouldnt expect to see an extra 20rwkw between the two. Its all up to you, but considering you are almost at the limit of streetable 2wd power, i would go the smaller inlet, to maintain the low rpm torque, and idle quality, but its all trial and error.

Cheers Adriano,

I do plan on dropping a GT35r .8 on it at a later date once I push the limit of the GT30.

As Uni is now all done with and I'm working I have a fair bit more $$ to throw at the car and have some fun with it down at Mallala. So it will be primarily a car I race down at the track. Similar to the Troymeister but I'd still like it to idle 'ok' so it doesn't attract too much attention. :(

I'm hoping some one has played with 265 cams in a hydraulic head and the RB30. ;)

this vid is of a 33 gtst i've help built this year. its a built rb25, solid lifter head, 260/9.15 cams, big port work both sides, os valves on the exhaust side. its just sounds pure porn at ilde (~900rpm), and u should hear it on full noise ;) *creams pants*

Sounds very very nice. I've replayed it over and over and over. I could listen to it all day. lol.

All though partially due to the solid lifter setup. Hydraulic cams sound much smoother. :) A good thing for not being defected though. ;)

Cheers Shane. :(

i know myself and the owner dont get sick of it hahaha

they can be turned so its not as 'raspy' on idle, but then there goes hp, and who wants to do that? :(

he's running a 35r with the .82 rear, and power tips over at 8000rpm (although 1 silicon joiner is sucking closed at high rpm so that could be playing a part in that) so i reckon something closer to 270deg would be ideal on an rb30 with the 35r

How many ponies did it produce?

You could try sourcing a set of A'PEXi 270 degree cams, pretty sure these retain the hydraulic lifter setup... from memory they run 9.0mm lift.

The downside is they went out of production some time ago so Yahoo auctions may be the best bet...

    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
