What the? Care to explain the whole story?

hey all

the white 33 was my mate, poor guy!

his bad luck just doesnt end.

i wasnt there though, apparently my friend was waiting in the middle of the intersection at the lights waiting for the oncoming cars to stop so he could turn right. the lights went orange and a truck booted it through the intersection. Out from behind the truck was a white SS VS Commodore driver booting it as well. as my friend turned right. "bang"

IMPACT ON HIS FRONT LEFT guard, TYRE, spun him (r33) 360 degrees around. air bag popped out and pretty much saved his life as the impact propelled him forward with his head nearly hitting the steering wheel

FUEL started leaking out of the SS, the battery in the ss Commodore shorted and create the explosion and subsequent fire.

though at this early stage the details are alil sketchy.

From all reports the SS driver admitted to my mate that he was travelling 65-70 kms in a 60 zone.

Result:

No one injured, SS written off. r33 sedan impact on left hand side. engine not affected.

just thought i would update everyone,

cheers

Was it still orange when the commo came through the intersection??

hey mate,

sorry i really dont know if it was still orange when the commodore came through,

the cop reckons if the witness on the motorbike can definitely say that the light was orange, then they can pin the commo, but thats still a lil sketchy.

all i know is that its going to be a pricey repair bill.

cheers

even so the commo driver already stated 65-70km/h and as ur friend was already in the intersection it is still the commos fault.

true! good point!

Again an interesting thought...

my friend overheard the conversation with the commo driver and the cop.

the commo driver told the cop that he was travelling 70 odd. the cop asked him "did you know this is a 60 zone?"

the commo driver quickly changed his story and claimed that he was only driving 65km/h. still it really depends on what the witnesses say because at the end of the day its one persons word against the other.

To make things worse my friend copped a fine as well ontop of damaged r33, not sure what the SS driver got. The ss driver has full comp insurance while my friend only had third party. The cops only write the report, i think its up to the insurace company to determine who was at fault. isnt it done by percentages??

cheers!

ah thats rubbiash hopefully skyline driver doesnt get bent over

truck going through on yellow you would hope noone is following

Its not rubbish, hes in the wrong. How would you like it if you were going through an orange light and someone pulled in front of you? Sure he was speeding and making a mad dash, however he should have waited until there was no cars, its not like he was going so fast he couldn't see him, or the light was blatantly red. He has no defence his insurance will have to pay out.

In those situations you should be extra careful as LOTS of accidents happen that way, and a lot of people do the mad dash for the orange light. A good habbit my dad taught me was if you are in that situation and going through an orange with the possibility of someone turning right in front of you is flash your high beams so they can be certain you are going through.

um sorry man yellow does not mean speed up it mean caution STOP he clearly would of had time to stop if he wasnt doing 70 and though Ah trucks going through ill go as well

i agree the line should of waited too untill all trafic was through even if that means waiting till his light is fully red and other cars are beeping @ him, the other cars waiting for there green light can see his predigament and will wait for him to leave the intersection

all in all commo driver should cop huge find and be @ fault even if the cop takes his 2nd awnser of 65kph hes still 5kph over the limit

no doubt both parties are at fault, so no point arguing it :)

Your automatically 12% in the wrong for just being in your car on the road in the first place. No doubt everyone will cop a fine, but the actual payouts/claims will be determined by how much % each party was at fault.

My mate had same situation happen to him. He was coming thorugh an orange light, but wasnt speeding. Driver turning saw it went orange and just freaked, then turned infront of my mate, and both had a bad head on which resulted in my mate kissing the steering wheel. Wasnt my mates fault, as he wasnt speeding, but he still was deemed to be part responsible for it..

Hope no-one was seriously hurt, and everyone learnt a lesson...

Actually, I'd like to see where it says that in the law/regs/statutes.

I hear that alot but no one comes up with where it says that just for being on the road you are at fault for an accident. I had a friends insurance company try this on him a few years ago, in attempt to reduce his claim repayment. He couldn't find anything that stipulates that for being on the road you are immediately at fault, and after persistence they dropped the matter.

However, the R33 in this incidence looks to be in a tricky situation. I'm hoping for his sake that turns out OK.

It wont say that you're immediatly at fault, but you will be at fault to a certain extent for just being on the road to start with. We all know u wont be in a car crash if u dont get in a car to start with :)

Im sure if any insurance company chose to, they could dispute any matter, as they will always have enough money to spend on a court case than u or i would even consider.

Every case is different, so yes your friend may have been let off in the past, this case may swing in totally the other way...depends whose insurance guy has had a hard day :D

There probably wont be much the r33 could say other than he failed to give way.

i hope the commo driver gets found at fault, only reason being he has full comp and the other guy doesnt, but apart from that he did turn in front of the other guy. In that situation i make sure everyone coming is definately not going through and is slowing down before i cross over.

Thats right i would have waited.. no matter even if on coming traffic was beeping there horns, caz what would they do run in to you and then there at fault. But the main point is that every one survived :)

    • I'd be very surprised if you can buy new OEM mats. But if you can, I want some too!  Do you have links to the variations you found? Also, where are you located? I found that Nengun is happy to list items to purchase but when you do buy them you'll get an email that it's actually discontinued. As far as I know the variations in floor mats are different colour schemes as well as automatic and manual having a slightly different shape. The automatic ones fit into a manual car without issues, but I think you'd have trouble fitting the other way around. I have photos that show the shape difference if you care. FWIW I bought sets of used floor mats in decent condition at yahoo auctions.
    • Hi 🙋‍♂️. Just bought my Unicorn but the interior need some minor work so it would match my expectations ;). I noticed it is hard to get used oem floor mats in good condition so i started to dig if there's any chance to buy set of new ones. I found two websites - nengun and amayama and it looks like one can still buy factory new floor mats in Japan, but thers a small issue. Some mats (i assume genuine, oem ones) are marked as G4900 and these are "discontinued". The ones you can buy are marked as G4911 but i have no idea if these are also oem, made by other producer or some lower quality replacements that looks entirely different. Can anyone help? 😃  P.s. there is also some strange indication - 0V005, 0V015 and 0V505. Any idea what does it mean? Would appreciate any help with this 🙏
    • Hi, Marek here 🙋‍♂️. I finally fulfilled my longtime dream - recently bought Stagea and now waiting for it to arrive in Poland. There's only few of these in my country, and one of the owners  recommended mi this forum as a source of all the info i'd need since now i own one  so here i am.
    • Version 1 aluminium airbox is.......not acceptable No pics as I "didn't like the look.....alot" Even after all my "CAD", and measurements, the leg near the fusebox just didn't sit right as it ended up about 10mm long and made the angle of the dangle look wrong, the height was a little short as well, meh, I wasn't that confident that Version 1 was going to be an instant winner I might give Version 2 another go, there's plenty of aluminium at work, but, after having in on and off a few times, and laying in the old OEM airbox without the new pod filter and MAF, there may be an option to modify the OEM air box and still use the Autoexe front cover and filter.... maybe This >  Needs to fit in here, but using the panel, and not the pod, the MAF will need to fit in the airbox though> I'm thinking as the old OEM box and Autoexe cover that is sitting in the shed is just sitting around doing nothing, and they are relatively abundant and cheap to replace if I mess it up and need another, it may well fit with some modifications to how the Autoexe brackets mounts to the rad support, and some dremiling to move it get in there, should give me some more room for activities, as I don't want to move the MAF and affect the tune Sealing the hole it requires to stick it in the air box is simple, a tight fit and some pinch weld will seal it up tight  I am calling this a later problem though
