Comparing my old Rb20DET pump and the RB25DET pump I run on mine the RB25DET pump had the same amount of lumps but the gear was thicker so it would flow more.

My Rb30 block cam with 2 x 1.8mm restrictors.

I believe the Rb25DET's run 2 x 1.5mm restrictors and the RB26 1 x 2mm restrictor.

I'd stick with 1.5 its safe.

Have you thrown a crank collar on to it so you can rev it a little harder without the worry?

I noticed mine runs a little more pressure up over 3000rpm.

Yours I remember was a bee's dick over 4 on the stock guage where as mines up around 5 at 3000rpm.

4k and over mines sitting on 6.5-7. :S

A little high. :S

When cold with anything thicker than 5w40 it max's out the guage over 8. With 5w40 it sits smack on or just under depending how warm the weather is.

Its probably a sticky relief. :S

My old rb20det with its stock pump never say over a bee's dick over 4 when warm.

Joel, OK i will grab that restricor off you and throw it in. I havent used a crank collar as its still my stock RB30 bottom end and i wont be reving it heaps high due to stock rods, i wont get a collar till i built a forged bottom end, i got h beam rods just need some pistons.

What revs you reckon safe with std crank oil pump drive?

argg what rev's....

I really don't know as I haven't done a motor in 'yet' and to be honest there's no real solid proof of what rev's does what.

It probably eventuates from poor rebuilds. In your case thats not a problem as you know the motors solid.

Hows the condition of the current oil pumps gear drive? They tend to wear and flatten the metal.

A shade before 7.5k?

Thats quite a bit of rev's anyway, ~60km/h in first, ~105km/h in second and ~145-150km/h in third.

Shaun rev'd Antony's quite hard, well over 7k but it the valve springs hated it so the rev limit is set to 7.2k.

When/how do you want to grab this restrictor?

when he brings my cams to adelaide, hehe!

I finally got my engine going and tuned yesterday, made 382rwkw on only 17.5psi boost. Had issues with boost control, if i tried to boost it over 17 psi it would just go crazy and make 25+psi, tried a few different ways using top and bottom port on the wastegate, but had same problem each way. Im currently running a 10psi spring, i will try the 15psi spring i have.

Ill scan the graph and post up later.

holy moley...

Damn nice result Andrew. I bet that plasted a grin from ear to ear the first time you gave it a lot.

So whats different to the old setup?

382rwkw on the gt35/40 .82? Shiet. Quite an improvement over the stock inlet and exh. setup.

Did the restrictor make it to you in time to be fitted up?

Yeah, it takes off so much beter than the 2WD.

New setup is has Better cams, better plenum, better exhaust manifold. I hope to sort the boost out soon to run around 20psi and get a bit more out of it, need to build my bottom end now so i can rev the thing, power still going up at 7000rpm limiter.

Nice.. So you say better.. You mean still stock gtr plenum and stock gtr cams but better than the rb25 shiet?

Quite impressed with the result. Excellent.

Craig- Head over when your around, show you what a RB30 can do, if its not broken....

Joel- yeah better than RB25, still stock GTR plenum, Bit bigger cams than stock.

Will do mate have fun.

Andrew.. Are you still running around with that 100mm china fmic?

I'm having a look at a gts4 4door this week. Appears really tidy. Most likely I will grab it as its a bargain. I plan on transfering the motor over and quite possibly selling off my head and throwing a gtr head on it. Simply due to bonnet clearance issues.

I'd prefer to have the gtr head with its plenum in the gts4 for the same cost as having an rb25 head with a 700-800 odd plenum.

My only concern was the exh. manifold.. Where did u get your head to manifold flange or did you cut it out yourself?

Probably biting off a little more than I can chew with regards to fabrication. :S

Joel- I made the drawing of the head flange and got a mate to profile cut it. Rb25 head with a side plenum would clear the bonnet better than GTR as the front timing gear cover is wider and fouls on the front corner, the rb25 cover isnt as wide.

How much $ you picking the 4 door up for?

Even the rb20/25 front timing gear cover still fouls with the bonnet. It requires choping to allow the bonnet to close.

The 4door.. Its interstate and he wants 8k. It is cheap and 100% dead stock. It sounds too good to be true, I'll soon find out. Laying a deposit down first thing monday under the condition that it is in the condition he says, then jumping on the plane with a cheap flight down there and lmao.. drive it back. :S

We'll see. Hopefully it all works out well.

Soun good joel, With the RB25covr in my black car i never had to chop the bonnet supports, just modifed the engine mounts.

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
