What do you get when you bolt a supercharged 1,000bhp engine, hitherto found under the bonnet of a four-wheel-drive monster truck, into a home-made motorbike chassis?

Most people would probably say “trouble” or possibly “a ride in an ambulance”. But for engineer Nick Argyle, it seemed the obvious thing to do when tinkering with some bits in his garage one day.

Argyle had built his own monster truck some years previously before selling the chassis but keeping the whopping 8.2-litre Mopar V8 engine. Lacking the space to build another truck, he decided that the ideal home for the supercharged powerplant would be a two-wheeler.

Called the Rapom V8, the result is the most powerful road legal motorbike in Britain, with between 1,000 and 1,200bhp depending on the boost from the Littlefield supercharger. That makes the Bugatti Veyron, the fastest car in the world with 987bhp, look rather tame.

And if you thought your neighbour’s SUV was a gas-guzzler, the Rapom consumes a gallon of pure alcohol ever four miles. Fortunately Argyle only uses it for the 10-mile trip to his local dragstrip in the Cotswolds and then only in the daytime as the bike lacks headlights. The frame, constructed from massive, 3cm thick steel tubing, is extra long to prevent the bike flipping over under hard acceleration and as it tips the scales at 1,000lb, a reverse gear is needed for manoeuvring.

With such a surfeit of power, just two forward gears are needed in the API racing transmission. Stopping power provided by racing brakes gripped by six-piston callipers.

didnt know where this was appropriate, mods feel free to move it if need be >_<

thats the radiator not the cooler. it isn't intercooled. the supercharger runs like a drag cars. straight into the intake.

by the looks of where the handlebars are, you would almost be leaning against the back of the blower when you ride it.

I cant see the handlebars :S im sure there there but there hard to see...

also the seat sits heaps far back from the bars, stearing this would be fun...

Would not want to experience a blower Back fire...... shrapnel for breakfast.

    • Why are you so adamant on going M12? Why not follow Brad (GTSBoy) suggestion. You're talking moving from a 1/8" size, to a 1/2" effectively. 4 times bigger. Why skip the commonly available sizes in between? The bigger you go, the more likely you are to strip the threads out at a later date, as guaranteed, someone will put a huge spanner on the M12 and really tighten it up, and you're only in thin wall, so not a lot of threads to engage!
    • Hi. Yeah thanks. Car is already at tuners and it staying there to resolve "many" issues they do not like. So it is in a good hands. Getting a good tune on that Nistune ECU too so the car would be good. Just needs a little tune up and love.
    • Probably gonna remove manifold and turbo. I’m not sure if I can get M12 x 1.5 air tight. Could use high temp Loctite 246 or something similar, but I don’t know. Maybe it’s just best to remove everything again and weld an 1/8NPT on there instead.
    • Yeah, saw the ratios, not impressed. Would like the punch I have in the first gears now. With those ratios it won't be the same.  Also want the h pattern gearing, or at least a quiet gear set that don't need to come apart for service each year. Looks like the only "reasonable" way Is a 8hp70 transmission, but where is the fun in that🤷‍♂️
